10. Poisoned

Draco hurriedly raced down the almost empty school corridors as he hastily made his way back to the Slytherin Common Room. Guilt washed over him as he thought of what he had done. Would the intended target even get the poisoned bottle of Mead? Would Professor Slughorn keep it for himself? Would the wrong person be killed?

Draco sighed, running a hand through his blond hair and decided to think of something else to keep him from worrying. As he climbed the stairs to his dorm, his thoughts immediately went to Arabella, Draco sighed to himself. It had been almost a week since they had last spoken and Draco was beginning to find it harder and harder to keep himself busy so that his thoughts would not alwayas stray to her. But unfortunately  for Draco, Arabella was not an easy person to forget, she never would be. Tears pricked Draco's eyes as he entered his dorm and remembered how he had hurt her just before the Christmas holidays. He hadn't wanted to, but he didn't have a choice. He had never had a choice. Draco sunk down onto his bed in the Slytherin dormitories and sighed before closing his eyes and slowly drifting into a light sleep.

Meanwhire, on the other side of the castle, Arabella was sat by herself on the window ledge where herself and Draco had argued. In her hands she held her favourite book that she had recovered in the Slytherin Common Room. She had figured Draco put it there, knowing she would find it, which showed her that he did care, even if it was just a little bit. But for the first time in her life, she just could not get into the book, her eyes just stared blankly at the page, her thoughts fixed on Draco.

Arabella sighed to herself and leaned back against the cold castle wall and shook her head, as if she were trying to shake Draco from her mind. She took a deep breath and then glanced down to her book again, beginning to read. She was pretty sure Draco would not be thinking about her, so why should waste her time thinking about him? Arabella sighed at this thought and lay her head back against the wall, closing her eyes. It was no use, she simply could not stop thinking about him.

A step of footsteps bounding down the corridor caused Arabella's eyes to quickly open and she quickly looked down the corridor. She smiled as her eyes met with an old friend of hers, Lavender Brown. Lavender stopped in her tracks as she noticed Arabella, her eyes tinted red. Arabella quickly stood up, tucking her book beneath her arm."Lavender? What's wrong?" Arabella asked.

"Ronald is in the Hospital Wing! He-he's been poisoned. Please, come with me?" Lavender explained as her eyes bored into Arabella's, pleading with her. Arabella's eyes widened as she heard her friend had been poisoned and nodded. Lavender quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her off down the corridor.
