Behind The Scenes

Em is that foster kid that moves from house to house. She's labeled as one of those troubled teens and moves around a lot. But when she moves to a new school and falls in love with Simon, she might just have to leave him behind.

7. Electricity

"Alright guys!" Mr Smith yelled from the stage. All of the techies and actors sat in the seat below looking up at Mr Smith. "Tomorrow is our first show, I want it to go smoothly. First shows are always bad, lets try not and butch it. Lets start off with a bang and end with an even bigger BANG!" Mr Smith yelled. His voice echoed through the large room. "Alright, you can all go," he said as he waved his hand to dismiss us.

All the actors walked out the main doors. The techies all headed backstage and left out the backdoor. We all started walking over to Wal-Mart to stock up on Kickstart, Voltage, Bubbly and the drink we still hadn't named. Bubbly was just what all the techies called Cider. We would bring shot glasses and pretend to do shots. Since we were all underage and on school ground, we couldn't actually buy the real thing, so we just used Cider. The unknown drink, we considered calling in Raspberry Dew but no one really liked that name. It was Mountain Dew Voltage mixed with Sprite and Raspberry Cascade Ice. It was amazing.

We had to stock up for 2 weeks worth of plays. Mr Smith figured that Les Mis would be the best performance and that everyone would want to see it. That was why it was going to be 2 weeks. All the actors loved the idea, but to the techies it just meant more actual work.

We all went through the store and grabbed as many bottles and cans of soda then combind all of our money. I handed Ken the $15 that I got every week for food from Ms Nash. It was a good thing it was the end of the week. After we had paid for all of the soda and other food items we all ran across the street to put our stage away. We all made our way though the back of the school to the front. We walked inside and set all the bags down behind the stage and then walked out.

Simon drove me home and before I got out of the car, I leaned over to give him a hug but he kissed me. It wasn't like one of those; thanks for being a good friend. It was on the lips and well...i don't really know. I had never really had a kiss last that long. I wrapped my fingers in his hair and he did the same. After a few minutes I pulled away from him. He looked at me with his deep blue eyes. He fixed his hat but never took his eyes off me.

"What was that for?" I asked.

"I, I don't know. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you or anything," Simon said as he looked down.

"No, its fine," I said as I grabbed his hand. "And it didn't upset me," I said. "I actually liked it," I told him. Simon's eyes seemed to light up.

"Really?" he said. "Then would you mind going out with me sometime?" he asked. I thought about just answering him but finally I just leaned over and kissed him again. This kiss was shorter but I could still feel as if electricity went off. I pulled away and then got out of the car. I waved as Simon started his car again. He rolled down the window. "I take it that was a yes?" he yelled out.

"You decide!" I yelled back as he drove away.
