1. Prologue & Chapter 1

Candace’s POV

“Candace! They’re gonna have a concert here!” Erin hurriedly told me as she went to my small room. I’m such a big fan of One Direction, but I’m not the kind that goes to concerts and screams very loud. I’m like the introvert girl who just hides everything, trying not to be popular. “I’d bet I won’t go there, again.” I just get jealous of the fangirls that always follow the boys everywhere so when they have a concert, I just watch it from the TV and cry myself to sleep knowing that I won’t meet them. “You’d lose that bet because you’re coming with me!” She replied as she held my hand really tight. I was overjoyed but how can she afford that money? I could add up all my allowance for a year and it’s still not enough to watch my favorite boys perform.  “We can’t afford those tickets alone!” I hesitated. “Well my dad knows a guy who can give us two VIP seats, plus, we get to hang with them and eight other girls!” Watching the boys and hang out with them? That’s gotta be twice the fun. “Are you like… Serious!?” “Yes!” “After that excitement, let’s eat.” “Haha. Sure.”

After we ate lunch, they went back to my room. “I’m bored. Let’s look at your photo album, you never showed me any of those.” Erin said as she grabbed an album of my family while we were in Ireland. “I like the pictures you took. How old were you again when you stayed there?” “I was eight.” I said as I flipped through the pages of the old album. “You look so cute! Wait, who’s the cute boy in the photo with you?” “He’s my best friend while we were there. He’s much older than me.” “Well, what’s his name?” “My parents and I call him James, but we know that’s not his first name.” “Nice. And hey, how’s your song? Did the record company like it?” You see, I personally think that I’m a good singer and I want to test my abilities out and try to make it big time. I just recently sent a demo album to a really big record company. “I didn’t check my e-mail yet. I’ll go check.”

“Oh my gosh! Are you kidding me?!” I dropped my jaw. “What!?” Erin was alarmed. “It says here that the record company wants to meet me.” “Yey!” Erin cheered like a baby who just received a lollipop. I laughed so hard. “If you get famous, never forget me.” Ever since our family moved here in the Philippines, Erin was always there and I love her for being my bestfriend “Of course I won’t, you’re gonna be with me all the way.” “Oh, and don’t forget, the concert’s on Saturday.” I reminded Erin. “Oh no! I don’t have much time to buy a dress! Today’s already Thursday!” That sounded to dramatic. Like, why would people get all crazy just for buying a dress or something, but I don’t argue with her. “Calm down! Let’s go to the mall now, will that make Erin happy?” This was me, acting like a babysitter, trying to make the baby happy. “Let’s go!” She said as she grabbed her purse and my arm. To think, our attitudes are far from each other. You can actually tell what kind of person I am from my geeky glasses, quiet thoughts, and unpopularity. Erin says that I look so much prettier when I take off my glasses, she encourages me to wear contact lenses instead of the big, bulky, geeky glasses. I don’t wear contacts even if I needed to. I’m here to express, not impress. I stay quiet and simple while Erin is simply the opposite, but somehow we get along well. People always question our friendship but we don’t mind.  “Are you sure you’re gonna wear that in the concert? The dress is very short.” Sometimes I worry about Erin. She’s gonna wear a really short dress on a cold night. The dress does look good on her with her long legs. “Don’t you remember? We’re gonna meet One Direction.” “Yeah, but it doesn’t mean that you should wear a short, expensive dress. Like what Niall said ‘Intelligence is sexy’” “Too late for that. I already bought it.” She said as she paid for the dress.
