7. Chapter 7

Candace's POV

We hailed a taxi. Then we waited for our plane headed for The Big Apple. It took us three hours from the Philippines to the States. The plane ride was awfully boring. I was happy we landed. Once we got there, someone was holding a paper written “Candace Sanchez” and we approached him. “Are you Candace Sanchez?” The man asked. “Yes.” I obviously know my own name. “I’m from Diamond Records, come with me.” “Okay then.” He looked convincing enough that he was from Diamond Records so we followed him. We rode in a really nice-looking car. The man is our driver. While he was driving, me and Erin were looking out the window. New York is so beautiful! I know I’d love it here! The man dropped us in front another really tall building much taller than the building we saw last time. “Here you are miss.” He said as he opened the door for us. The guy escorted us to a big room. We expected to see a lot of people but instead, it was a man standing facing the window. “Ah, Candace Sanchez.” He said as he turned at us. “Mr. Smith?” “Yes. I told Mr. Garcia to bring you here, and I know that you got potential to be an artist , but I wanna hear you sing first.” Darn it, I left my guitar in the car. I’ll have to sing acapella. I didn’t get that nervous because there was only one person who was watching me. When I finished my singing, I saw Mr. Smith let out a big grin. “You are really good.”“Thank you so much.”“I want to train you to be an artist. While we do that, do more covers of songs on YouTube so people would know you.” “Okay.”  “When you get the hang of it, I will find you a place to perform, for your exposure. Okay? And start making your own songs.” Mr. Smith added. “I already wrote some songs here.” I write songs when I’m bored. I let my mom and Erin hear them, and they say that they’re really good. “Give it to me. I’ll give it to my writers.” “Thank you, sir.” Me and Erin immediately went out of the big room. I noticed that the driver man following us. “Miss, I will be your personal driver.” A personal driver!? That’s so cool! He can drive us anywhere we want.  “Ok. Can we go home first, sir?” I politely asked the man. “Call me Jay.” “Ok, Jay.” Jay looks young, not like the drivers I see, we get along together well and I like him. We drove up to an apartment and Jay escorted us to our room. “The time you’ll be here in the States, you’ll be staying in this apartment.” When we entered, the apartment was so big for the two of us! “It’s so big! There’s so much room for us.” Erin said. “I hope you’ll have fun at your stay.” Jay said as he closed the door. Erin started opening drawers and saw something. “Money!” She screamed. “What!?” I ran to her. “There’s a note. It says ‘Here’s pocket money to make your stay happier, from Diamond Records’” “We get pocket money!” “But we have to budget that money.” I reminded Erin. “You’re right.” We decided to just stay here and rest. I started to upload covers of myself singing  on YouTube.
