Little Girl Blue

After keeping other employees hostage, Rebecca discovers a unique creature that she has never laid eyes on. Locked up, in a cage. Will Rebecca discover what is really going on?

2. Chapter 2

Six years ago she was a first year student in college, studying to become a nurse. The campus was beautiful, with lots of open spaces and flowering trees. She could still smell the cherry blossoms after all these years.

She was sitting under a tree, having lunch, when some older students started a game of football. After a few minutes, the ball landed near her, almost landing in her salad bowl. Several of the football players called for the ball.

“A little help! Hey, the ball?”

Rebecca was too nervous to respond. One of the players, a tall fellow with a tangled mop of blonde hair, jogged over to her and picked up the ball. “I almost hit you!” he said. “Sorry about that.” He smiled warmly, his eyes bright like twin campfires. He extended a hand. “I’m Robert, by the way.”

“I, ah…” Rebecca stammered.

“And your name is?” Robert asked, extending his hand again.

“Alright, then.” Disappointed, Robert turned on his heel and headed back to his game. A few days later, Rebecca saw Robert again, apparently headed to the plastic surgery building. He greeted her, waved, but she pretended not to hear. She ducked into the cafeteria and waited until he was gone.
