18. 'Did anyone see you?'

’You’ve got to be kidding me, are you telling me that you aren’t even going to wait and see if he calls?’

Amelia had calmed down and so had I, after the whole discussion in the taxi. She actually stayed calmed all the way back to the hotel room and we even had a whole meal without her going at it. But the moment I told her that I was going to call Niall when the show was over she went at it again.

‘He is supposed to call you! He was the one that left you all alone here.’

I sighed and shook my head as I began dialing the number. In one way Amelia was right, the best thing would be to wait for Niall to call since he was the one that didn’t invite me and was out and about. But I was the one who actually got my booty over there and watched him perform, and I wanted to be the sweet girlfriend and congratulate him on his biggest performance.

‘I wasn’t all alone here; I was with you at the show, so you haven’t really gotten any case here.’

She glared at me and tried to yank the phone out of my grip but fortunately she didn’t succeed the first or second time, and after that she gave up. She raised her arms in the air and let out an big sigh.

‘And it isn’t thanks to him that you were there, but suit yourself!’

She huffed, crossed her arms and placed her bum on the couch as she stared intently at me. I shook my head once more and pressed the dial button, I counted the tones to 4 before anybody picked up.

‘ello?’

He sounded exited, and heck, who wouldn’t be after that show? I didn’t even have to see the ending to know that the probably went out with a big bang.

‘Congratulations on a great show, you guys were awesome.’

I congratulated him and tried to hold back a smile, I was hoping that we was going to be excited over the fact that I actually got to see them perform.

‘Oh yeah right, thanks. You watched a live feed then? How sweet of you.’

He responded and I chuckled, did he really think that I would sit at home and watch a live feed? Usually those things sucked and you couldn’t hear or see anything but screaming girls.

‘No, you silly, I was at the concert, with Amelia.’

Niall became dead quiet, you couldn’t even hear him breath anymore. I guess that it wasn’t a good sign and that soon he would start yelling or worse, tell him how disappointed he was at me for going behind his back or something.

‘Did anyone see you?’

Was the only thing he managed to get out of that pretty little mouth of his.

‘No, nobody saw me. And if they did, they would just think that I was in Ed’s company, which I was. When are you going to realize that nobody is connecting you to me anymore, and they are not going to either since I’m friends with Ed.’

I rambled on trying to explain myself, and trying to get him to see that us out in the public wasn’t such a bad idea at all. Nobody would suspect anything if Ed was close and nearby and our ‘little’ problem would be solved and we could live happily ever after.

I sneaked a glance over to Amelia, she was listening intently on our phone call. I gave her thumbs up but she just shook her head and my smile faded when I heard Niall’s reply.

‘It doesn’t matter, when are you going to get it? I don’t want you out in the spotlight, period.’

I glanced over to Amelia once more and she mouthed ‘I told you so’ and shook her head at me. I sighed and continued to listen to Niall.

‘I’m going to the after party, and this time for our sake, stay inside. We’ll talk more about this another time.’

With that he hung up the phone and I tossed mine in Amelia’s lap with a groan, and she just shook her head.

‘I told you so.’

-

The phone rang and Amelia quickly picked it up, I guessed that it was Ed calling because that was the only time she was quick about anything.

‘Heya Ed.’

Her face lit up in a huge smile and her voice was almost as smooth as honey, damn that girl got the love bug pretty bad. Did I sound the same way when I talked to Niall? At least I didn’t think I did, and well, if I did I would seriously think that I needed some help because damn, it sounded ridiculous.

‘He wants to talk to you.’

She handed the phone over to me and walked off, I walked over to the window and stared out as Ed’s investigation started.

‘Where are you girl? And why haven’t you brought Amelia with you? I’ve been waiting for you all night.’

You could hear the party in the background and from numerous gossip pages I knew that they were out and about singing karaoke.

‘Didn’t Niall tell you?’

I asked him carefully, I really didn’t want to create anything. Niall and Ed were friends too, and if Niall hadn’t told him the whole ‘I don’t want to let her out in the public’ thing from his point of view, then Ed wasn’t going to be happy with the whole truth.

’Tell me what? Harry and Taylor are even here, where are you? Get over her ASAP, you and me could do another duet!’

I sighed and glanced around to see if Amelia was anywhere in sight, she wasn’t going to be happy when she found out what I was about to do.

‘I’ve got a really bad headache, I don’t feel good at all. I think I’m coming down with the flu, and Amelia stayed here with me so I wouldn’t feel alone.’

I hate the fact that I had to lie to him, but it was for the best. I didn’t want to ruin his evening and of course I didn’t want Niall to get into trouble.

‘Do you want me to come over? Make some tea? I could be there in 10 minutes..’

He started rambling but I interrupted him quickly.

‘No no, you go have fun you stud. I have Amelia here with me, she’s taking good care of me. Go have fun and we’ll meet back in England later.’

After some sighs he agreed with me and wished that I would get better and that we would see each other soon, we bid farewell and I ended the call. I looked up to see Amelia standing in the doorway staring intently at me.

‘Liar, liar, pants on fire.’

‘Don’t judge, just help me pack my bags so we can leave this godforsaken place.’
