Dirty Little Secret - A Niall Horan Story

Everybody has a dirty little secret. Want to know what mine is? My dirty little secret is that.. Well, I am someone elses dirty little secret. Niall Horan's dirty secret that is. A secret he isn't so keen on letting the whole wide world know about. But as everyone may know, is that the thing about secrets is that they often don't stay hidden for long...

13. 'Awh, that bad? I'll just keep singing in the shower then.'

It was time for the first of the three concerts Ed was performing and right now I was sitting front row at an sold out arena feeling misplaced. Tons of screaming fans were chanting for Ed to come out on the stage and at first I tried to get into the spirit and chant with them, but since I actually knew Ed and just got to see him less than an hour ago it felt kind of wrong.

The girl next to me seemed to be calm and collected; I had discreetly looked over my shoulder and found out that she was in fact messing around on Twitter. Apparently I wasn’t as discreet as I thought I was because her eyes met mine and she cleared her throat.

‘Enjoying the sneak peak?’

She waved her phone around a bit in her hand I blushed crimson and apologized.

‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t know where to watch and well..’

I started but I really didn’t have a clue why I had been staring at her and her phone for quite some time. It almost felt as my brain was trying to tell me something, but I was too idiotic to figure out what it actually was.

‘It’s cool, it’s rather boring to wait around, I know, this is my 10th show or something.’

She exclaimed and my mouth turned into an O, she must really be a hardcore fan if she had seen ten of Ed’s shows. This being my first show and alone with no company at that, I guess I suffered of a mild case of the jitters.

‘Wait a minute. I know who you are!’

She looked at me and then she looked down on her phone again and I saw that she was looking around for something on Twitter. After some awkward silence from my part while she was scrolling on her phone she enlarged a picture and turned the phone towards me.

‘This is you. You are Alexandra, Ed’s best friend.’

She stated and I just nodded and she turned the phone back and started to text away on her phone. She looked up for a moment and smiled at me.

‘Cool. Mind if I take a picture of us?’

I shook my head and I huddled closer and gave the camera a huge smile while she took the photo.

‘Thank you..’

She started but before she had the time to continue the sentence the girl on the other side of her shushed us and pointed to the stage.

‘It’s starting, be quiet.’

We hushed down and nodded, turning all our attention to Ed while he got out on the stage.

’That was awesome! You rule, dude.’

I threw my arms around Ed’s neck and gave him a big hug, him being drenched in sweat didn’t bother me at all. I couldn’t be more proud to be Ed’s friend right now, the show was pure awesomeness and you could really see how he shined when he performed. He loved it equally as much as his fans did, I’m sure, he had such a glow to him.

‘I take that as you like it?’

He smiled and I nodded my head vigorously. He held out his arm for me to take, which I did, and then we started walking towards his car. I had waited quite some time after the show for him to see me; I thought that it would be rude to interrupt him from his fans when I could see him almost anytime.

As I was about to move over to his car he stopped me and shook his head and pointed towards a small bus and started leading me towards it instead.

‘But what, wait?’

I was clearly confused but I understood what was going on when a few people stuck out their head from the bus and gave me several big smiles; it was time for the after party.  I hauled myself into the bus with Ed on my heels.

‘Let’s get this party started!’

’Well, that was fun.’

I hiccupped and giggled as I fell off the couch, Ed slid down next to me and we were lying next to each other just staring at the ceiling. Not a sound was heard, if you didn’t count our breathing.

‘I wish we could do this every day.’

Ed said with a small voice.

‘Have a big show and get drunk afterwards?’

I turned my head and stared at the side of Ed’s face. He turned towards me and stuck out his tongue and did an ugly face.

‘Of course not silly, I mean the feeling you get. Everything is just.. Perfect.’

He turned his head up towards the ceiling once more and so did I.

‘Yeah, you are right. Peace and serenity, hanging out with the people you love the most.’

‘Have you ever been so in love that..?’

Ed started but I interrupted him.

‘I’ve never been in love the way you’ve been, then I would have written as many beautiful songs as you have.’

I established. Ed started laughing and shook his head and got up and leaned towards the couch.

‘You can’t write something if your life depended on it.’

I joined in on the laughter, as he was correct. Lyric writing wasn’t my cup of tea, or anything with music at all to be honest.

‘I have you for that, Mr. Singer Songwriter.’

I hummed.  Remembering the last part from one of his songs from his album. I jumped up and grabbed the bottle that was closest to me, which happened to be an empty tequila bottle and started to sing while using it as a microphone.

‘Long nighter, short height and I'm gone hyper. Never be anything but a singer-songwriter. The games over but now I'm on a new level. Watch how I step on the track without a loop pedal. Nananna. Cause you need me, man, I don't need you. You need me, man, I don't need you. Lalala.’

I danced around the room, jumping and doing pirouettes. I stopped quickly when I saw Ed staring at me with an awkward face.

‘Awh, that bad? I’ll just keep singing in the shower then.’

I said with a gloomy voice as I threw myself on the couch, falling asleep almost immediately, with the bottle in my hand.
