Sophie and Justin have never got along with each other. They absolutely detest one another, so when their moms decides to get them to spend the summer together, they do all they need in their power to make up excuses to avoid the other. But will this change when they start to grow feelings for the other part?

1. The beginning

"This is Justin, my son." A woman said looking into my eyes. My mom looked at me as if I had to do something.

"Go on honey. He won't bite." My mom stated. I walked towards the boy and raised my hand for him to shake it.

"I'm Sophie." He looked at me weirdly before raising his hand so it collided with mine.

"You two would probably want to get to know each other. We will be in the kitchen discuss woman stuff." The woman that I still don't know the name of said. They left me and the boy Justin alone in the hall and awkward silence fell.

"Maybe we can go to my room and play." I said as I smiled at the boy.

"Sure." He simply said. I already had a feeling that this would be more awkward than before. It felt weird being with him, I never was like this to the kids in school. Maybe because I don't talk to boys, it scares me. Maybe because I am 5 years old and don't talk to boys. I am so afraid of the bacillus the boys have. I walked up to my room with the boy following me behind. When we got to my room I pulled out some dolls that I usually play with. I don't know what guys like to do so I followed my instincts.

"What is this?" He spoke up.

"Dolls. This is Bratz, I like Barbies the most, but Bratz is fine too." I said to him. He looked at me weirdly.

"And why do you take them out of the box?" He questioned me. What is wrong with him? Why does he ask so much? I'm a girl, I like to play with dolls.

"Because we can play with them." I smiled to him.

"No thank you. That is too girly."

"What do you want to do then?"

"Play hockey." He said and smiled a huge smile to me. Even if I maybe didn't like him, I liked his smile. It got me to smile.

"Well, we can't do that now. So do you wan to have the pink or the purple one?"

"None of them."

"But you have to. Choose one."

"The purple one.." He simply said. Not sounding too excited about it. Why isn't he excited? This is fun.

"My doll is named Natasha. What is your doll named?" I asked him.

"Come on. Just choose a name. You can choose a boy name. It doesn't matter. How about Math? it sounds cool because you can count-"

"I don't want to be here!" He interrupted me as he whined. I don't want you here.

"Go then." I said smiling to him.

"I will!" He screamed as he left my room and threw the doll next to me. I was happy he left, which means that I can play with my dolls all by myself. A few minutes later my i heard my mom talking.

"Sophie! What happened?" My mom shouted as she got into my room followed by that lady and the boy.

"He didn't want to play..." I said and looked down at my doll.

"You were going to get to know each other. Can't you at least try for me and Pattie? It would mean the world to us." My mom said. Pattie? Was that her name. I guess.

"Why?" I questioned her.

"Because we're best-friends and we see each other all the time that it would be good if you two got along." She said. I looked up and she looked deep in my eyes.

"But he doesn't want to play..." I said again.

"Okay. Talk then. Kids like to talk nowadays. Do that. Just don't fight with each other. Okay?" She looked over at me, then at the boy as Pattie said something.

"Just try." And with that Pattie led Justin to me and he seated himself on the floor where he sat before.

"Thank you kids." My mom Kathy said. They then left the room leaving us behind again.

"Talk." I stated.

"Talk." He said back. No one said something in a couple of minutes. We just sat there. Me fiddleing with my doll and Justin tapping a strange beat on his lap.

"You drum?" I asked him. He then raised his head looking into my eyes. They were so beautiful for a little kid to have. I didn't notice before, but his eyes were hazel and really beautiful.

"Yes." He said.

"What songs you drum?" My weird babyish language took over.

"I don't drum songs, I drum what I feel like." He really looked proud over saying that.

"What do you feel like?" I asked him again.

"Nothing." He said. I said to myself to stop talking about the subject because it was so weird, but I couldn't handle myself.

"How long you been drum?"

"Since I was two." He said. So he had been drumming in three years and I have to say that he was kinda good. We just sat there awkwardly again, until our moms called from downstairs.

"Justin. We gotta go! Come down." His mother yelled at him.

"Finally." Was all that came out of his mouth. I followed him downstairs and got to see my mother smiling.

"Have you two got to know each other?" She asked with that smile still plastered on her face.

"No. We only talked about drum." I said as I saw Justin taking on his jacket and getting ready to go.

"Oh, okay." Mom said.

"Well, you maybe get to know each other more next time." Pattie said and followed with a 'goodbye'.

"Bye." My mom said and gave her a hug. Pattie then walked out with Justin through the door and I thanked myself for that it was over. I don't want to meet that boy anymore because I have a feeling that with him it's only going to be awkward. My mom then interrupted me from my thoughts.

"You should probably go to bed honey. It's late." And with that I gave my mom a hug and said 'goodnight' as I walked to my bedroom and tried to fall asleep. My mom later got into my room and gave me a kiss on my forhead.

"Sleep well darling." I was too tired to respond and the next thing I knew I fell asleep.

So this is the start. Not maybe so interesting, but it will get more interesting soon.
