I think an update is required; I finally got a spare moment today to write. So, we fought and forced Austria towards the border, we were all quite proud. We thought that all are hard work was done, but since we were in the area, Napoleon insisted we try to recapture Vienna.

It didn’t go as easily as before. The emperor, Francis I, refused to sign a peace treaty. “Only,” I heard him say this morning, “if you just so happen to defeat the Austrians.”

“Impossible!” I heart Napoleon sputter back. “We just pushed them towards the border; they’re out of harm’s way for the time being.”

“For the time being,” Emperor Francis I replied in his deep voice. I imagine him to be a bigger man, his voice sounded like it. It held authority.

“Just sign it!” I heard paper shuffling, something being slammed on a hard surface.

“Defeat the Austrians, then I just might consider it.” His voice showed no emotion.

“Fine,” Napoleon grunted. “We’ll defeat the Austrians.” It sounded as if he was about to exit, so I had to find a hiding place quick. Technically I wasn’t supposed to be in the palace, but I wanted to look around, get a feeling of it. I wasn’t by myself, so it should have been allowed. Lots of people had done it, so I wanted to. But, I wasn’t supposed to listen into a conversation; I could be severely punished for listening in to such a private thing!

Anyway, I need to go and clean my gun now.
