My Best Friend's Brother

"I honestly don't understand why you dislike me so much," Harry smirked, backing me into the wall. I let out a gasp as his body pressed against mine. I could feel his body heat radiating against mine and I couldn't even mumble out an insult. "Do you still hate me?" he asked, his voice low, almost coming out as a growl. I nodded in response, not trusting my own voice. His eyes left mine, his smirk still perfectly in tact. I suddenly felt his warm lips sponging soft kisses up from the top of my chest, to the top of my neck, and up at my ear. I could hear his slow breathing as he opened his mouth. "And now?" It took me some time to respond, but I finally mustered out the word. "Always," I said, before he moved his face in front of me, crashing his lips against mine.

I suddenly felt the warm heat from the Styles household hit me as Gemma unlocked the front door, moving aside to let me enter before her. I gave her a sly smile as I walked in, wiping my shoes before stepping on the perfectly white, tiled floors. I let my body adjust to the warm temperature inside before pulling the sleeves on my jumper down over my hands, which was always something that had been a habit of mine. I turned around the face Gemma as she closed the door gently before pressing the small button on the back of the door handle. It made a quiet click noise, indicating that it was now locked. She made her way over to me, and we strolled towards the door that led into the kitchen. A smile grew on my face when the smell of Spaghetti Bolognese filled my senses, and it grew bigger when I saw Gemma's mum, Ann, sitting at the marble bench, flicking through a magazine. Anne is like my second mother; she has been there for me when my own mum couldn't, and I treasure the kind of relationship that I have with her.

'Why hello, mother," I spoke up, causing Anne to turn in our direction. She grinned at me and slid off the bench stool, standing to her feet. She extended her arms in my direction and I wandered over to her, opening my own arms, too as I went. She engulfed me in a hug and swung our bodies back and forth together. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you in years!" she exclaimed, pulling out of the hug, but placing her hands on my shoulders, keeping us a certain distance apart. "Anne," I began, a grin present on my face. "I was here Friday night. You, me and Gem watched The Notebook, remember?" Anne rolled her eyes, "You know what I mean!"

She released her gentle grip on my shoulders and turned back towards the bench. She slipped back on the stool and continued flicking through her magazine. I turned to Gemma who tilted her head backwards, hinting for me to look that way. I leaned to the side, hoping to catch a glimpse of whatever she was referring to. I then saw Harry walking into the theatre room, tapping away at his phone. I rolled my eyes and placed my hands on my hips. "No," I mouthed, my voice coming out as a whisper. She pouted, giving me the slight puppy dog eyes. I walked over to her, shaking my head, causing my long hair to flip over my shoulders. "Please," she whined, her voice quiet, so Anne couldn't hear. I let out a sigh, my voice going back to its regular volume. "Fine," I groaned, walking out of the kitchen and towards the theatre room. I didn't take much persuading, I have always been like that. Not a good thing, nor a bad thing.

The first thing I saw was a blank television screen; Harry hadn't even turned it on yet, he was just sitting on the black leather couch, still on his phone. Whoever he was talking to must have been really interesting. I leaned my body, shifting my weight to one foot, before folding my arms over my chest. I then cleared my throat, causing Harry's head to snap up in my direction. He then rolled his eyes, looking down at his phone again. I rolled mine too, walking down the couple steps to be on the same surface as everything in the room. I strolled over and sat on the couch next to Harry. "Hey, Mr. Direction," I piped up, referring to his band name, thinking that it was quite humourous. I smiled at him; fake of course. He looked up at me once more, boredom in his green eyes. "Can I help you?" he asked me, sarcasm being the only thing that I could hear, over his massive ego, of course. "I just wanted to come and see how you were going," I stated a simple lie. Truthfully, how Harry was doing was never something that I cared about.

"Cut the crap, Brooks," he spat, letting out a small, yet evil chuckle. He always addressed me by my last name, so I did the same to him. "You're only here because my sister asked you to." I clapped my hands and smirked at him. "Glad you caught along, Styles," I replied, my eyes turning into slits, glaring straight into his green orbs. "Now," I added. "If I have to be nice to you, you have to be nice to me," I continued. "And from what I've been told, you already agreed to that," I concluded. Harry's phone was now locked, and he looked at me in disbelief. I frowned, my expression giving away my sudden confusion. "I agreed to it, yeah," he began, all of my attention on him. "But I wasn't planning on actually going through with it. And I sure as hell didn't think you were going to either," he told me, his eyebrows raised, finding my previous actions obviously now amusing. "I know your game, you never give in this easy."

I rolled my eyes for probably about the millionth time, now. "You're wrong," I said. He raised one brow, turning his body around the face me, one leg tucked under the other. I doubt I am. There has to be another reason you're willing to act friendly towards me," he said, turning to face me, tucking one of his legs under the other and leaning into the back of the couch. 'There's not," I simply stated, leaning my back against the couch also, staring straight ahead of me, feeling Harry's burning glaze in the side of my face. "Only the fact that Gemma is forcing me," I added, looking in his direction. He looked at me for a few seconds, without saying a word, his signature smirk planted on his face. I was beginning to feel intimidated, so I stood on my feet, pulling my jeans up slightly and straightening out my jumper. "Now," I began, swiveling on my feet to look at him. I placed my hands on my hips and looked down at him. He gazed up, meeting my eyes, as cheeky grin spread across his lips. I ignored it when I noticed it and continued to act as daunting as I possibly could. "Are you going to be nice to me?" I added, suddenly feeling like I was talking to a little child. His eyes scanned me up and down, which made me feel self conscious. I just tried my best to ignore it, and raised both my eyebrows, waiting on his answer. "I guess I could," he replied, meeting my eyes once more. I dropped my hands from my hips and nodded, a slight smile playing on my lips. I turned to make my way out of the room when I heard Harry speak up. "But," he said. I turned to look at him. "If I have to give you the nice attention you're requesting," he added, standing to his feet and walking over to me. "I'm gonna have fun with it," he concluded, shooting me a sly wink. I rolled my eyes and turned on my feet, storming out of the room, acting as dramatic as I could, letting him know that I wasn't going to let what he said get to me.
