28. Chapter 28

I smiled at my screen and felt my cheeks heat up. He just asked me to be his girlfriend in the sweetest way possible; I stared at my screen and wonder where he was hiding right now. I looked at the “ACCEPT” and “DECLINE” buttons and pressed the one button that would change my life forever.

“I knew you’d say yes,” he said to me then let out a little chuckle.

I rolled my eyes. “Oh don’t be so overconfident now, I could’ve pressed the decline button anytime”

“But you didn’t, that’s the thing” he whispered in his husky voice. “So…shall I call you babe now?”

I bit my lip and I said yes in my head. God, it sounds so hot when he says it.

“You there?” he asked.

“Yeah, um…” I said trying hard to find the right words to speak.

“Turn around,” he suddenly said and I obeyed.

I turned around and there I found him standing a few feet away from me with his hands on his pockets. He looked so perfect and I wondered how he ended up with me. He smiled at me and I just stared at him dumbfounded. He’s my boyfriend. My very first boyfriend. And honestly, I wouldn’t have wanted another one besides him.

“Hello my girlfriend,” he finally spoke up and gave me his signature smirk.

“Hello my boyfriend,” I said back while biting my lip.

He smiled and I saw his cheeks reddened and he gave me a wink. “That sounds so perfect, especially when you say it”

I smiled and walked towards him and once I was inches away from him I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tighter, I can feel him smelling my neck which didn’t make me uncomfortable but made me giggle instead. I started playing with his hair when suddenly his hands went down to my butt and he pulled me up. I squealed and let go of his neck.

“Don’t let go,” he whispered on my ear which definitely made me obey.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and tightened my legs around his waist. He’s carrying me. Gosh. I’m not a baby but I still found it cute. I kissed the side of his head and I felt him smile.

“Let’s go back to my place,” he said as he walked me to his car.

The ride back to his place was fast and suddenly we were both lying down on his bed. I was looking straight at his eyes and he was looking back at mine. He smiled at me and reached towards my face, running his fingertips from my eye to my lips. I felt myself blush because this has to be the most intimate moment I’ve ever had in my life.

“You are so beautiful,” he whispered as he tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear.

I shook my head and crept closer to him which made us now only about an inch apart. Our noses were almost touching and I was just staring at his beautiful eyes.

“Nah, I’m just ordinary” I said back to him as I suddenly wrapped my leg around his waist and brought him closer to me.

He placed his hand on my waist and kissed me then after a few seconds he pulled away. The only sound we could both hear right now is the sound of our breathing and the sound of our hearts thumping. I guess we were both nervous. I love this boy.

“I love you, Angel” he said like he was reading my mind.

“I love you too” I said back as I went closer to him and kissed him hard.

A few minutes later after our heavy make out we both decided to take a walk to the nearest McDonald’s which was just about 5 minutes away. I looked at my watch and it was already 9pm and I bet my mom would be worried sick. I was tying my shoes when Chris was putting on another shirt. I stood up and placed my phone and wallet inside my pocket. Chris and I both walked out hand in hand outside of his house and started walking towards McDonald’s. I was looking up at the sky as we walked and I was staring at the full moon.

“What you looking at?” Chris asked.

I snapped out of my reverie and turned my head to face him. “Oh, the moon”

“Oh yeah, of course” he said as he looked up and stared at the moon.

We both stopped walking and just started at the moon for a few minutes.

“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” I asked him and pulled him closer to me.

“Not as beautiful as you,” he breathed out and kissed the side of my head.

I couldn’t help the blush that formed on my cheeks and then we kept walking. When we passed by a dark alley, Chris suddenly stopped walking and turned his head towards the alley. He was peeking through, trying to see what’s on the other end then suddenly, he grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the alley.

“Chris what are you doing?” I whispered to him as fear started to rush through my body.

I’ve always hated dark alleys, especially in the movies where the people that go there always get killed and robbed. I was staring at the back of Chris’ head and when he didn’t reply to me that’s when I started to get even more scared. After about 20 minutes of walking that’s when I stopped which made him stop and turn to me.

“What are we doing here?” I said sharply.

“Short cut,” he said then smiled at me.

“Are you sure it’s safe?” I whispered and started to look around and all I saw was garbage bins.

“Of course, my beautiful angel” he said then brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it.

I shrugged my shoulders and decided to just go with it and trust him. What kind of relationship is it if you don’t trust him? I was walking by his side and as we were halfway there I heard a rumbling sound behind me. I stopped dead in my tracks and tightened my grip on Chris’ hand. He turned his head to me and rolled his eyes.

“There’s nothing there, Angel” he said then started walking, leaving me behind.

After a few feet, Chris turned around and placed his hands on his waist. He was looking at me like I was a baby but honestly, I was just scared. I started to hug myself and was so close to crying because I swear I heard something behind me.

“Don’t be scared, Angel” he said. “There’s nothing the-“

My eyes widened and I screamed once I heard the two gunshots. My eyes snapped straight to Chris to and he was leaning on the wall of the dark alleyway. A few seconds later he ran to me and grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him. He hid me behind his back and I started shaking with fear. I knew something was wrong. I was hugging his waist and I felt a tear fall down my cheek as I thought about this day being my last. Chris’ grip on my arms were tight and I didn’t even bother complaining.

“Who’s there?” Chris said calmly.

No answer. I started to calm myself down because that’s the best possible solution to this situation. I started breathing normally and once I lifted my head up, my eyes met with the darkest grey eyes I have ever seen. I screamed in shock and fell backwards, knocking Chris off his feet. The mysterious man stood above me and was grinning down at me. I looked at his right hand and there he was holding a gun. My eyes widened and I stood up immediately, going a bit off balance. I turned my head and suddenly two men grabbed Chris’ arms and threw him against the wall, keeping him restrained. I looked at my surroundings and it was just me and the man with the gun. My body started shaking and I started thinking of ways to survive. I walked backwards and the man with the gun raised the gun towards my chest which immobilized me.

“Don’t you dare fucking touch her!” Chris shouted which resulted to one of the men holding him, punching him in the gut.

Chris groaned and lurched forward, falling to his knees. I stared at him with pity as a tear fell down my cheek. He was in pain and here I am, not doing anything about it. I looked in front of me and faced the man with the gun.

“W-what do you want?” I asked him.

He chuckled. “You,”

“Me?” I asked him and my eyes shifted from his to Chris and back.

“Yes, little slut, you heard me” he said arrogantly.

His voice sounded so familiar…

“Don’t talk to her like that you dick head” Chris whispered.

The man with the gun laughed and walked towards Chris, he looked up at the man with the most murderous eyes I have ever seen him do.

“What are you gonna do about it, lover boy?” the man asked.

“Don’t you fucking touch her or I’ll kill you” Chris answered then spat at his face.

The man wiped his face and glared angrily at Chris then suddenly he hit Chris’ face with the butt of the gun. Chris groaned in pain and then the man kicked his stomach and that’s when I started crying. I knew I could run away right now but I would never leave Chris. Anger started rushing through my body and I had the guts to walk up to the man, grab his shirt and turn him around. I raised my hand and slapped him hard across the face. The man, in shock, fell backwards but not losing his balance. He placed his hand on his cheek then looked up at me then laughed. My eyes widened and I took some steps backward.

“Wrong move little girl,” he said angrily then walked up towards me and I raised my hands about to defend myself but I was too late as he punched my hard on the stomach.

I heard Chris scream and I fell to the ground, on my knees, clutching my stomach with my life. I have never experienced so much pain in my whole entire life. I heard the man laugh harder. I looked up at him and he was grinning down at me. I grabbed his leg, trying to trip him but instead he kicked my face and I felt a stinging pain on my right cheek. Chris screamed at him to stop but obviously he didn’t. He started kicking my stomach countless times and that was when I gave up. I crouched on the ground and tried to fight for my life, I’ve always had a weak body. A few seconds later, the man walked backwards and I managed to find some words to say.

“What do you want?!” I shouted at him as blood came out of my mouth.

“You,” he said calmly. “I’m taking you with me”

“Never in a million years,” I snapped back even though I knew it was the wrong answer.

“Wrong again,” he said as he took a few steps backward and brought his gun up to his face and blew on the tip.

Fear started rushing through me as I realized that he was going to kill me. My eyes widened and I was staring at him with begging eyes and all he did was laugh. I could hear Chris shouting words at him. The man with the gun who was now about 6 feet away from me raised his gun and pointed it at my head. I was kneeling down and I knew I couldn’t do anything to save myself. I took a deep breath and ignored the knowing fact that this man’s voice sounded familiar. I turned my head towards Chris and it felt like it was just him and me right now. He stopped shouting when his eyes caught mine and I nearly broke down as a tear slipped down his cheek. I knew this was it. I knew it. He stopped stuggling and instead looked deeply into my eyes. I knew this might be the last time I would see his face. I smiled at him and ignored the fact that my face was bleeding. He didn’t smile back but instead gave me the most worrisome eyes.

“I love you,”  I mouthed to him.

Another tear fell down his face and I heard the man click his gun, about to shoot me straight in the head.

"I love you too," he mouthed back.

I have no idea who this man is and what he wants.

I have no idea why he wants to kill me.

But fate can change in the least expecting moments.

When I heard the man laugh his evil laugh, I knew it was the end. After I mouthed those three beautiful words to Chris, I was ready. Then it all happened so fast.

I was staring at his eyes.

He was staring back at mine. No words needed to be spoken.

The last thing I’ll be seeing would be the eyes that changed my life.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Chris pushed the two guys that constrained him. My eyes widened. I screamed for him to stop because I knew what he was trying to do. He ran towards me.

My eyes followed his movements.

I was wrong.

He ran in front of the man.

And in that second

I saw the boy that changed me, the boy that loved me and the boy that made me believe that maybe life isn’t so bad after all.

I saw him lying on the ground with the eyes that was once so bright

                                                              Now with no life.
