Forever and Ever

Charlotte Burke is a normal seventeen year old girl. She lives near LA and is used to all the famous people flying in and out. After her father walked out on her and her mother, she was the one to take care of her mom and adopted sister, Annie. She never wanted anything more in life than her family's happiness.
Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall, and Zayn are anything but a normal boys. Being in a boy band was always an important and lucky part of their lives. By now they were used to all the girls: crazy and throwing themselves at them.
One lucky encounter could change everything for them both. Will Char be able to get over her grudge against pop stars? Will the band realize that by falling for Char music won't be the only important thing? Will they even be able to date with one of them being British and the other American?
Love always has it's ways of working, but it usually comes with a price..............

51. Surprise

Char's POV
I sat for a few hours and got no ideas.
I needed to come up with a speech. Why had they chosen me was unknown, but I felt obligated to come up with a good speech.
But, I got nothing.
"I'll wing it I guess." I said to Curly.
He tilted his tiny dog head and followed me upstairs to my room where I changed into a white sundress accented with Lilly Pulitzer jewelry.
I found my charm bracelet that Harry had gotten me for Christmas/my birthday, and put it on. I went to my bathroom, did my hair and make up then hopped into the car, eager to be done.
"Here I go, off to graduate." I said to myself, almost crying of joy and fear of my speech...

Harry's POV
"How do I dress for something like this?" Louis asked looking at his bow tie collection.
"Go red with your suit." Zayn answered.
"I can't believe I have kept this from her." I sighed smiling.
"Wait she doesn't know?" Niall asked.
"Nope. It's a surprise!" I laughed.
"She hates surprises..." Liam warned.
I shrugged, knowing that she'd get over it. We all had on suits with different colored bow ties; Niall with green, Liam with purple, Zayn with yellow, Louis with red, and me with classic black.
"We're guna be late!" Liam said looking at the clock once we got in the car.
"Then drive like Char and get there." Louis said with a grin.
"Fine, someone read me directions!" Liam said, pulling out of the hotel lot.

We arrived with five minutes to spare and found seats in the back.
"Look it's her!" Zayn whispered pointing to Char wearing a robe standing with some friends.
I felt my heart pounding, about to rip out of my chest. The graduates got into a line and were called up one by one.
"... Alex Borgan. Charlotte Burke." A lady read. When her name was called we whooped and cheered for her. Char took her diploma but looked around really confused to try and see who was cheering since most candidates went up with the crowd silent or crying.
"Priceless." Louis said stifling a laugh.
An hour or so later it was time for the speeches. I listened on and off to some, fiddling with my bow tie to entertain myself. When I saw Char get up I completely zoned in.
"Ok. So first I would like to tell you that I am winging this." She said, a bunch of people laughed.
"But I discovered that that is the only way to talk about what I've been through here. You can't write it down, you can't type it up, it can't be practiced, it's just how we have lived.
I have been at here as long as I can remember. Pre K through 12th! Yeah, that's a long time. And I've been through a ton between those years.
My father left, mother and sister died, hell I moved part time to London! But I'm not here to tell a sob or a life story, I'm here to show you what this school and my friends here have done for me.
When my father left, the entire staff learned me by name and watched over me like a second family. Sure maybe gossip and sob stories about me spread between them, but that didn't make them treat me entirely different!
When my remaining family passed and I went to London, the school kept a spot for me and sent me work. And how did they treat me when I returned? The same! This place is my second home, it's my second family." She said gesturing to her classmates, "I-i can't even put into words what I feel about these amazing people. I remember coming home one day in grade school and telling my mom 'school is amazing it's so fun and I like all the kids' she answered 'I heard, that's what you say everyday'" Char continued making some kids cry and others laugh. She took a deep breath and wiped away her loose tears.
"I will miss this place- so, so much," she said wiping away some tears, "but we are ready. No matter how much your parents don't want to let go, no matter how scared we are, no matter where we will go; we are ready and were prepared by this school right here and the spectacular staff within." Char finished. It was an amazing speech especially for being improvised, and I noticed most kids teary or full out sobbing. Char walked off and sat with two other girls and hugged them.
"Give a round of applause for our graduates!" A lady said as they threw off their caps. We cheered as loud as we could, Niall climbed onto a chair to cheer because he felt the ground wasn't holding enough enthusiasm.

Char's POV
I blinked away my tears and threw off my cap. Whooping and cheering with my class. All of a sudden I saw... Niall? No, must've been a mind trick. I felt hugs and kisses on my cheeks as I walked around the room.
"Great speech!" Everyone kept saying. I just smiled and made my way to the field, alone. I sat in the center and sighed.
I was really done. It felt like a dream, graduating. I didn't want to see the parents hugging their kids. I didn't want to be invited to tag along for dinner. I didn't want to do anything but sit and appreciate how much I learned from this school. My mom and sister would be proud. I can only imagine them taking me out to my favorite Italian restaurant and Annie would've drawn me a new picture. I flopped down on the warm turf and tried to get my mom and sister out of my head, knowing it would only upset me.

I sprang up when I heard:
"Excuse me m'am but I believe that the beautiful girls belong inside, and you might want to be careful when you get up since you are in a white dress... Wouldn't want you to stain it." A man said with a weird half British half southern accent.
"Oh, sorry just soaking it in one last time." I smiled staring at the stars.
"Well, you might want to go back up, people are probably waiting for you." He continued.
"Nah, the only people I really want to see aren't here right now." I stretched and got up.
"Are you sure?" He asked, his voice different. It was a voice I knew well, one i talked with at least once a week. Turning, I saw five boys.
Five boys doesn't even come close to what they were. Five amazing, surprising, loving, caring, happy, and so much more guys...my family.
"Oh my god!" I screamed launching myself at them, my face in complete shock. I was embraced in multiple hugs, broke down crying and hugged some more.
I held Harry's face between my hands and said, "You're here! You're here?"
"Surprise!" He whispered kissing me. I locked my arms around him unwilling to let him leave my side..

"Ok so why the field?" Niall asked, juggling a flat soccer ball.
"It's my favorite place here." I shrugged.
"But you're friends are inside." Liam chuckled.
"They need to be with their families... Can't I be with mine right now?" I smiled, poking Louis's stomach.
"Thank you. You just made life so much better." I whispered, hugging them close.
