How to Move

Harry had just told me that Johanna had texted him telling him she was leaving the airport. I sighed and grunted a response before walking into my bedroom. Ever since I met her a week ago there was something that bothered me with her. She wasn’t you typical bimbo, she was the exact opposite. She was a little chunky and she looked really smart. Apparently she just finished studying to be a teacher and that was what she was going to do here in London. She wasn’t rude in any way and she was quite shy when you first met her. So why did she bug me? Not even I could put my finger on that one. I didn’t know why I had been so rude to her the first time I met her.

When she had walked into the room I had felt totally entranced by her. She looked so innocent but at the same time you just knew she was a wild card in bed. And maybe that was why I had to keep my distance from her. She made me think about another girl in a way I should only think about Eleanor. She and I had been together for seven years now. Everything was going fine but it felt like we were ending up in a routine, neither of us felt like we needed to be spontaneous. Gosh, I sound like a girl when I say that but it is true. We were both happy with how things were and she really was a wonderful person. But when Johanna came into the picture, even if it had only been for twenty minutes, she had caught my eye like no one had before.

I was now lying in bed when I heard the rest of the boys barge into the flat. They all wanted to be here when she got here. I wanted to be some place else but Harry wouldn’t have it. So now I was waiting to see her again, and feeling that same torture. She was making me feel like I was cheating on El and I hated it. Al of a sudden Niall burst through my door and jumped on my bed.

“She’s here!” He jumped up and down and I groaned. “Come on! Get up.” I pushed him so that he ended up on the floor and I laughed as he groaned in pain.

“Suit yourself for jumping on me.” I shrugged and walked out into the living room. When I did I found Zayn and Liam watching TV. I sat down and waited there with them. Just as commercial came on I got a text from Harry saying they were in the elevator. “They are here.” I felt them move next to me on the couch jumping up and standing by the door. I sighed and turned of the TV before I joined them and waited. As soon as Harry pushed the door open Niall, Zayn and Liam jumped her so quickly it made me almost get a heart attack.

They were all laughing and when I looked down at them I saw the horrified face Johanna had. She looked like she was being beaten and had given up the struggle. She looked so scared and hurt it made me want to slap the boys.

“Get of her.” I hissed and they all looked at me in shock. I pointed at her and they got of her extremely fast. When she didn’t move I knelt beside her and took her face in my hands. It really hurt to see her so scared. “Johanna.” I felt her shake her head and she took a deep breath. I just wanted that fear to go away for her. “Johanna, it’s okay. We’re not going to hurt you.” She looked so scared that I was amazed the allowed me to touch her right now. She looked like she feared ever sound and it made me realize someone had hurt her really bad in the past. When she slowly opened her eyes, her beautiful blue eyes, I felt my breath catch. She nodded to me and started to sit up. I kept my hands on her face.

“I’m sorry.” She spoke and then laughed. I let my hands fall from her face, still feeling the warmth from her cheeks. When she moved to stand up I jumped up before her, if she needed me to help her. “I’m just not good with surprises like that.” She squealed and started to jump up and down like a mad person. “But I am so pumped to be here!” I felt myself frowning as she just switched her feelings off right in front of us. The rest of the boys joined her in the jumping around. She laughed even louder, it sounded almost real. It sounded as if she wanted it to be real.

When she started to bend down to pick up her bags all of the boys, including me, beat her to it and grabbed them. The rest of the boys walked into the flat and Johanna followed them. I followed her inside and shut the door behind me. Her behaviour made me want to get to know her, it made me want to save her from all the harm she had ever experienced. She was the damsel in distress and… Did that make me her knight in shining armour? No it didn’t. Plus, I had El. I needed to remember that. I loved El with all of my heart, I think.

I noticed someone standing in front of me and when I looked up it was the girl that stole my train of thought. She looked at me with an expression I couldn’t decipher so I looked at her with curious eyes. Her eyes widened slightly as if I had just caught her doing something bad. It only took a few seconds before she composed herself and pointed to my right hand.

“I can take my bag now.” I felt stupid for holding on to it and reached it towards her. Her hand gently brushed against mine and it made my heart race. What was she doing to me? I scratched the back of my neck trying to think of something to say.

“Are you hungry or something?” That was stupid. Her smile became bigger as she nodded. “I’ll go fix some dinner then. You should go get settled in you room.” She nodded again and as she was walking away I couldn’t rip my eyes from her. When she suddenly stopped and turned around to look at me my heart broke at the sight of her face. She looked so torn and broken it made me feel special for getting to witness her moment of serenity.

“Thank you Louis.” She spoke in such soft words I felt my self get goose bumps all over. Her voice sounded so small and lonely, and I wanted to change that. I wanted her to sound happy. She turned around and walked down the hallway. I sighed and kept my gaze on her.

“No thank you Johanna.” I whispered the words and hoped she hadn’t heard me. I didn’t know why I was thanking her, but I knew I was thankful.
