29. Chapter 29:

Since we were celebrating Christmas today it was just plain strange for me when my phone rang. I began ranting on and on about how rude it was for someone to call during Christmas celebrations. But then my mother interrupted me and said no one in this country was celebrating tonight. I simply sighed and answered the phone who just kept on ringing. I first looked at the screen to see who was calling but it was just a number.

“Yes, this is Johanna.” I sighed loudly to show my irritation and when the other person spoke I heard their apologetic tone.

“Hello Johanna, my name is Dwight and I am the new principal at the school. I know three old students of yours came by a few days ago and told you the old one got fired.” I closed my eyes and leaned back onto the couch where I was sitting.

“Yes, I’ve heard that.” I tried sounding polite but it was a little hard.

“Well I am now calling to tell you, officially, that you have your job back! If you want it of course.” I heard the smile that was bound to be on his lips and I couldn’t help but smile myself.

“Of course I want it!” I laughed lightly and he joined in.

“Well then, you hired again.” He paused for a moment, as if he was reading on a paper or something. “The next semester starts January 11 so how about you come in the 5 and we can talk about schedule and such?” I nodded furiously and then realized he couldn’t see me.

“Sounds amazing!” We both agreed on a time and then hung up. I smiled largely at my family and waited for me to tell them the news. I took a deep breath before practically screaming out; “I got my job back!” They all jumped up and hugged me. Screaming congratulations and then deciding I was given the privilege to read the Christmas presents, and hand them to the right person. The rest of the night we spent laughing and watching some of the movies we had gotten. I loved my family so much and wished they could stay forever.

*Four days later*

I was now sitting in the taxi on my way home from the airport. My mother and two brothers flew home today. I tried making them stay but my brothers were going to my father for New Years and my mother had plans. I had actually started crying in the airport as they were about to walk through the security thingy. I didn’t want them to leave, but my mother promised me we were going to talk almost every day. I told her I was going to hold her to her promise because of everything that was going to happen.

I sighed as I looked out the window and the taxi drove into the city of London. I loved this city but it didn’t quite feel like home just yet. Soon the car stopped and I paid the driver before getting out. When the taxi drove off I noticed the paps in the bushes and wondered what they were doing here. They all lifted their cameras and snapped pictures of me but I just shrugged and turned to walk into the building. When I got inside I saw a bunch of girls just standing around the lobby. I simply shook my head and walked passed them. When I was standing by the elevator and were waiting I overheard some of the girls conversations.

“OMG! That’s her!” The girls were whispering, trying to speak so I wouldn’t hear.

“Who?” I didn’t look their way but I could imagine them standing very close to each other.

“That girl on Perez. It’s rumored she has a thing with the entire band or something.” I clenched my jaw as the elevator doors opened and I walked inside it. All I could think about was that no matter how hard I had tried to stay under cover some how it didn’t work. I wasn’t going to believe those girls without checking out if it was true. So when the elevator stopped at the right floor I practically ran to out flat and punched the computer on. When I was logged in I opened Google Chrome and typed in PerezHilton.com. I waited for the site to load and then started to scroll down the page.

As the fourth story I saw a blurry picture with the title ‘Mystery girl fools around with our 1D boys?’ written underneath it. I clicked the link to read full article and noticed several photos of the boys but also several photos of me. There were even some photos of us together, at my birthday party. The last photo was of me and Louis dancing. We were standing really close and were hugging each other. I squeezed my eyes closed and pinched the bridge of my nose. I couldn’t believe this. The one thing that I didn’t want, happened.

I wasn’t going to show this to the boys. I didn’t want them to worry about me and I knew Louis would have a hissy fit if he found out. I sighed as I pulled out my wallet from my purse. I pulled out a small card I had gotten three months ago when I first told someone about my past. I picked up my phone and typed in the number and pressed dial. I waited for the person to answer and when he did I almost had a heart attack.

“Yeah.” I hated when people didn’t introduce themselves on the phone. Some just thought it was obvious who they called. I repressed my irritation and spoke.

“Hello Simon, its Johanna.” Something muffled in the background and I heard a door close.

“You’ve seen the article.” It wasn’t a question, he was just stating the obvious. I didn’t respond since it wasn’t a question so he continued. “I’m in a meeting right now about it. I’ll see what I can do.” I sighed in relief and nodded.

“Thank you Simon.” He knew I wasn’t thanking for myself, I was thanking him for helping the boys.

“Don’t mention it.” He hung up before saying goodbye but I just shrugged it off. I knew he didn’t like me because I came with complications. Good for him that this was going to be over soon. I now placed my phone on the table, closed the website and put on some music. Unfortunately it was the one and only One Direction that came on but I didn’t complain. I began cleaning the apartment and packed my suitcase, the last one actually. I was going to tell the boys I wanted to rearrange in my closet. I didn’t want them to know what I was going to do just yet. When I was done with that I began making dinner. Harry wasn’t coming home until the 31 but Louis was coming tomorrow. I cooked myself a small porting of chicken and fries. It wasn’t the most advanced meal but it would do.
When I had done the dishes, eaten and put on a movie I felt my phone vibrate. I looked at it and saw Simons name flash across the screen.

“Johanna here.” I smiled and hoped he could give me some good news.

“Hello, its Simon.” I nodded, even though he couldn’t see me, and waited for him to continue. “We’ve fixed the issue as much as we can.”

“Alright. Do I have to do something?” I waited for his response as I walked into the kitchen to grab a coke.

“Not at the moment but we need a name of the man who is looking for you.” His voice was calm but I could tell he didn’t want to ask me this. I didn’t want to speak about him but I had no choice. I took a deep breath and steadied myself before speaking.

“His name is Michael Jones.” I paused a little while and then spoke again. “Simon, he’s from Brighton.” I heard Simon sigh and I knew I should’ve told him sooner.

“Let’s hope he didn’t see that picture and that he doesn’t come over here soon, yeah?” He paused for a moment before speaking again. “I need to go, I’ll call you when we have a better plan.” He hung up before I could respond and just as he did so the door opened. I turned around to see Louis walking in with his big suitcase. I smiled at him as I walked over to him and gave him a tight hug.

“I missed you.” I whispered into his shirt and hugged him tighter to me as I inhaled his scent. His arms were around me and were squeezing me close.

“I missed you more.” I whispered back and kissed my hair. I thought to myself that it couldn’t be possible that he could’ve missed me more but I didn’t say anything. I leaned back and pressed my lips to his. For a long time we only stood there, our tongues fighting for dominance. The guilty feelings started coming back so I pulled away from him and gave him a sweet smile. He pecked my lips softly before walking off with his bag. I went to sit on the couch and as he came back he sat down next to me. He put his arm around me, pulling me close. I looked up at him and he had a weird look on his face. He looked happy but at the same time weary and he was studying my face.

“What?” I laughed. Feeling a little uncomfortable underneath his stare.

“Nothing.” He shrugged and hugged me tighter. Then his eyes fell on my phone and he sighed quietly. “Who were you talking to when I walked in?” I looked at my phone and considered telling him the truth. He wasn’t condescending or anything when he spoke, he just sounded curious. I thought about it a few seconds more.

“I actually talked to Simon.” He looked at me with shocked eyes and I laughed and patted his cheek. “He just wanted to know if I needed anything not that you were gone and we spoke about your present!” He smiled a sweet smile and I knew he had bought it. I smiled back and he kissed my lips.

“You might not understand how much I adore you.” I took a deep breath as he kept on talking in a low voice. “But when I say I love you, I mean it.”
