18. Chapter 18:

As soon as we walked into the kitchen where everyone else was I automatically let go of his hand. I realized what I had done after and gave him an apologetic look. He smiled at leaned to whisper in my ear.

“It’s okay.” He kissed my hair and leaned back. He then walked to the table where the other boys were sitting and talking about something. I smiled and walked to where Perrie and Yvette were fixing the rice. I sighed and looked at Harry. I cleared my throat and all of the boys looked over at me.

“Why are the girls doing this? I thought I you guys to fix it?” Both Niall and Harry blushed and looked down on the floor. I thought the reaction was kind of strange until I looked at Yvette and saw her big smile. Letting out a sigh again, I shook my head. “Yvette, did you harass them?” I raised an eyebrow at her and saw her blush too. Yet again I thought it was strange but decided not to bring it up in conversation.

“Well yes I did.” She raised her chin just like she did when a student was being difficult. I let out a small laugh and looked at the boys with a sympathetic look. They both shrugged and gave me sweet smiles. I knew Yvette could be a lot to handle if she decided to argue. And if she decides she wants to make the rice, you don’t argue back.

“Yvette I told you to behave!” I laughed and opened the oven to look at the food.

“Yeah yeah. I don’t think the boys are going to complain, or are you?” She turned to them and all of the five boys shook their heads. We three girls just laughed out loud. They looked so scared of her it was hilarious.

“Please try to behave more.” I gave her a pointed look. “Perrie, could you hand me the oven mittens?” She nodded and turned around to get them and then reach them towards me. I grabbed them and then pulled out the casserole from the oven. The room filled with the smell of the food. I heard the boys rise from their chairs. When I turned around they were standing behind the big island in the kitchen. I laughed at how they all eyed the food.

“It smells so good!” Niall practically yelled and began walking around the island towards the food. I put my hand up and he pouted.

“You’ll have to wait. The rice isn’t done yet.” I raised my eyebrow as if to scold him for not cooking it himself and he sighed and backed off a little. I let out a small laugh and placed my hands on the counter behind me. “Are you guys hungry or something?” They all nodded eagerly and the girls and I laughed. As we quieted down the timer for the rice rang and Niall practically jumped in excitement. I just sighed and watched as Yvette grabbed the pot with the rice in it. She placed it on the island counter. I gave the boys a smiled and nodded.

“Can we?” Niall looked at the food as his stupid mouth opened. I sighed and slapped the back of his head.

“Yes, stupid! Grab some!” He gave me quick hug before moving towards the plates to start grabbing food. I watched as they all one by one grabbed food and then went to sit by the table. I noticed that Niall was beginning eating and decided to make him wait a little more. “Oi! Niall!” He looked up at me with an innocent smile on his lips. “Could you please wait for the rest of us?” He sighed as he put his fork down. The other boys looked at me in amazement. “What?” I asked as they just kept staring.

“You got him to stop eating.” I shrugged as I grabbed a plate and waiting for Perrie to be done piling food on her plate, I swear that girl eat as much as Niall. “That’s as rare as getting him to share food.” Liam was the one who had spoken and his voice was low now. It seemed like he didn’t want to startle Niall into eating again, it looked hilarious. Perrie was now finished and I began placing the food on my plate.

“Yeah, what ever.” I winked at Niall who blushed and looked at his plate. “It’s because he loves me like I’m his second mother.” I shrugged as I walked over to the table. “I mean, who is to keep you guys in check if not me?” I gave them a big smile as I placed my plate on the table, then picking up my glass of wine. “But now I want to make a toast!” They all grabbed their glasses with wine too, even Liam were drinking it. They lifted them up towards me and I smiled at all of the friendly faces in front of me. “Even though I didn’t live here long before you had to leave something wasn’t right when you did. I actually missed you guys and I am really happy you’re all home! CHEERS!” I screamed and we all clinked our glasses. We drank and laughed and I sat down on my chair.

“Can we eat now?” We all laughed as Niall spoke up.

“You may eat now!” No one wasted any time speaking as they threw themselves onto their food. Looking at them and seeing how they all enjoyed my cooking really made me feel like a proud mother.

*Two Days Later*

The dinner had gone great and the past few days as well. I hadn’t told the boys I lost my job yet, but I was going to, someday. Louis and I had talked about keeping the whole trying to have a relationship secret from the boys just for a few days and he had agreed. He didn’t want me to feel pressure and that made me like him even more. This actually annoyed me a little, but in a good way.

I was currently walking home from the subway station, and from the last day working at the school. It had been a sad day but the students had been the sweetest ever. They baked for me and we had a nice last lesson. We still did what we were supposed to do but while eating cake and laughing a lot. They all had written me goodbye letters that I could read when I was feeling down. I almost started crying from how sweet they were. And as I was now walking home, unemployed and broke, I couldn’t help but to let those tears leak from my eyes. On top of this just perfect day, note the sarcasm, rain started pouring when I still had five minutes to get home. I let out a heavy sigh and felt more tears leave my eyes. I didn’t know what I was going to do now. I couldn’t let the boys pay for everything, even though they would do that. I didn’t want to go back to Sweden but what choice did I have if I couldn’t get another job? I felt like just when everything started going right again BOOM! Everything was now turning to shit. I hated the fact that I couldn’t keep my job for more then three months.

I was now soaking wet and as I turned the corner of our building I saw Harry get out of his car. I also noticed the ten paparazzis surrounding him. He looked up from the ground and instantly caught sight of me. He began walking towards me but I began shaking my head, in hoped for the paps didn’t notice. He then realized what he was doing and walked into the building. I sighed and walked to the door. I knew the paps were going to think that I was with Harry even though I wasn’t. I ran to the elevator that was just closing, making it by only a second. Inside Harry was, smiling at me as I walked in.

“Hello.” I blushed slightly since I had been running and I was dripping wet.

“Hi to you too.” I smiled and turned towards him slightly.

“Did they take your picture as you walked in?” He asked me with a worried voice. I nodded and looked down at the floor. “I’m sorry Jo. I forgot.” I shrugged and looked back up at him.

“It’s fine Harry. It isn’t the first time though. But luckily my picture hasn’t come out yet. Maybe I’ll get lucky this time too.” I gave him a big smile as the doors opened. We both stepped out and walked to our flats door. We walked in and Louis looked up at us from his place on the couch. At first he gave us a big smile but as his eyes fell on my face his smile fell.

“Are you alright?” He got up and walked over to me. I looked at him in shock before nodding.

“Yeah I’m fine, just a little wet. It’s pouring outside!” I tried laughing it off but he could see through my façade. Without answering him I began walking to my room.

“I need to get changed.” I spoke quickly before going into my room. Unfortunately I heard him follow me. I sighed as I heard the door close behind me.

“Jo, what’s wrong?” Damn it, he knew me better than I wanted him too. I wanted to be able to lie about not feeling well, but noo he had to go and ruin it.

“Nothing.” I didn’t look at him as I took my shoes off. I began picking out clothes to put on after a shower, I needed a shower. I felt his hand on my shoulder as he pulled me around so that I was facing him. His hands cupped my face and lifted it up so that I had to stare into his beautiful blue eyes.

“I can tell that there is something wrong. Please just tell me.” He kissed me lightly on my lips and then pulled back to soon for my taste. “Maybe I can make it better, if you let me.” I sighed and shook my head. As I felt the tears come back I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I felt like a failure as I spoke those next words.

“I got fired.” I didn’t open my eyes. The room was silent for a couple of minutes before Lou pressed his lips to mine again. He began kissing me softly and all I could do was lean into his embrace. His right arm snaked around my waist while the other stayed on my cheek. Now it was my turn to lean back too soon. He sighed and placed his forehead against mine. I looked up at him, his eyes were now closed. He was breathing slowly as if he was savoring the moment.

“What are you going to do?” He didn’t open his eyes as he spoke. His face turned into a frown and that didn’t fit him. He was supposed to be smiling.

“I don’t know. I’m gonna try to find another job but if I don’t…” I trailed off. He opened his eyes and stared at me. Pain was written all over his face as if he knew what I was going to say. “Louis, if I don’t I might have to go back to Sweden.” He shook his head as he broke free from my grasp. He went to sit down on the bed and then put his head in his hands. He looked really sad.

“You can just stay here. Money isn’t a problem.” I sighed and got down on my knees in front of him. I grabbed his hands in mine and made him look at me.

“You know I couldn’t make you do that. It’s too much to ask for.” I smiled a sweet smile and shrugged lightly. “Besides, who knows! I might find a new awesome job that makes it possible for me to stay here.” I saw a small smile form on his face and I squeezed his hands.

“You’re right.” His smile grew and I reached up to peck his lips. He looked at me for a long time before speaking again. “Why don’t you hop in the shower and I throw Harry out? So we can have our first official date.” I felt myself blush as I nodded.

“Sounds amazayn!” He groaned at my choice of words and I laughed. “What should I wear?” I gave an innocent smile as I stood up.

“PJ, we are having a board gaming date!” Now it was my turn to groan. I hated board games. They were so boring it almost killed me some times. I like a few but it was never those I got to play.

“Fine, but we are playing Monopoly!” He laughed and started walking out of my room.

“Yeah, what ever you say.” He kept on laughing at me and I yelled after him one more time.

“And I get to be the hat!” I heard his laughter ring through the flat as I got into the shower. The warm water feeling like heaven on my cold skin.
