13. Chapter 13:

You're serious?

“You’re serious? You’re not kidding with me? You’re really here?” After I had screamed for what must have been ten minutes I calmed down and I was now staring at Sophie with my mouth open. She laughed lightly and nodded her head as she grabbed my limb arms.

“Yes I am here, Jo. And you should really speak English you know. We’re in London after all!” I laughed along with her as I began crying. I hugged her tight to me and mumbled into her hair.

“I’ve missed you so much. I am so sorry for everything, Soph.” Her face got really serious for about two seconds before a huge smile spread across her face.

“Let’s talk about that later.” She spoke in a hushed tone, probably so that the boys couldn’t hear. When that thought popped up in my head I realized they were all still around Soph and me. I smiled sweetly to them and hugged every single one of them. Starting with Niall and ending with Louis. It was but awkward hugging Louis because it felt like we were fighting but it was nice to feel him near me. I stepped back after letting him go and looked at all of the boys in front of me. I put an arm around Soph as I spoke.

“Thank you so much guys!” I looked at them and they gave me an odd look. I raised one of my eyebrows and gave them a confused look. “Why are you all acting so awkward?” I laughed a little and they shrugged. Louis looked at me in the eye for a few seconds before whispering something to Harry, and then walking off. I became eve more confused as I looked at Harry. Harry just shook his head and leaned in to speak in my ear.

“He’s the one who did it, Jo. Look, you guys need to…” I cut him off as I felt where he was going with this.

“Need to what Harry?” I looked at him with hurt eyes as I felt Soph tighten her arm around me. “I am not ready, he said he understood that.” Harry sighed and scratched the back of his head. I saw Niall walk towards the bar, probably getting bored of this in his drunken state. Zayn had also walked off, seeing Perrie and the girls arrive.

“He does understand that.” Liam interrupted and put an arm around Harrys shoulders. “But he just really likes you. He’s going to miss you lots.” He looked at me with sad eyes and I felt like crying all over again. I was just about to start explaining myself when Soph spoke up and saved me.

“There is something you have to understand. If Jo says she isn’t ready she is not saying that because she wants him to suffer. She would never do that she cares too much, about all of you. But she has something holding her back and I know she hasn’t told you guys yet but that day will come. Now baby girl?” She turned to me and gave me a bright smile. I smiled as tears leaked from my eyes. She quickly wiped them away and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “What do you say about grabbing a few shots and then dancing?” She turned to the boys with a serious expression. “It’s an open bar right? Because I’m broke.” They both laughed and I smiled as I realized that my best friend hadn’t changed during the time apart.

“Well no it isn’t, but come with me.” Harry grabbed her hand and she grabbed mine as he dragged her towards the bar. Liam stayed back as his friend Andy came over to him. We walked over to the bar that was closest to us, there were two bars. One on each end of the room. The one we were walking over to was the biggest one. Harry got the bartenders attention and he came over to us. Harry leaned over the bar and spoke something into the guys ear. When he pointed at us two I became a little suspicious. The bartender nodded and Harry turned to us and smiled.

“This nice gentleman is going to give you girls what ever you want, for the rest of the night.” He pointed to the bartender and he nodded while smiling to us.

“So what can I get you ladies?” I smiled and looked at Sophie. She had that look in her eyes that told me this night was going to get crazy. She rubbed her hands together and eyed the very handsome bartender.

“Four tequilas!” She threw her hands up in the air which made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants.

*Louis P.O.V.*

I couldn’t stand there watching her be so happy when I felt so miserable. I told Harry I was going to get a drink and then left the group as I made my way to the bar. I sat down on a barstool and the bartender came over and asked what I wanted. I ordered my usual beer and he gave me one quickly. When he turned to help other people I rubbed my eyes. I felt tired and angry all the time. This whole party felt unnecessary, I mean we were celebrating us leaving all our loved ones? I swear it was like I was PMSing all the freaking time.

I didn’t know how long I sat there sipping on my beer but when I looked across the bar I saw Johanna, Sophie and Harry talking to the bartender. Harry was speaking into the buys ear and after he turned and talked to the girls, Soph threw her hands up in the air. The bartender grabbed a few shot glasses and began pouring shot for the girls. Harry hugged them both before leaving. The girls stood close to each other and talked amongst themselves. They really seemed like the loved each other, sisterly of course, and I wished I could have that with Jo. I wanted her to share all of her deepest secrets with me but she didn’t want to do that. The girls downed the shots and after both making disgusted faces.

I saw Jo look around the room and her eyes fell on me. I felt my breath catch as she smiled at me, looking slightly worried. She whispered something to Sophie and then disappeared into the sea of people. I found it odd that she would leave Sophie there all alone, but who was I to judge her? Plus I didn’t know where she was going. Maybe she just went to the bathroom or something. As I was thinking about where she might have went someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around looking extremely bored. I expected it to be some celebrity that came to our parties just to promote themselves. But when I turned around and saw that very beautiful girl I felt a smile sneak its way onto my face. She smiled shyly towards me and then turned her face towards the floor. She fidgeted with her hands and looked up at me with nervous eyes.

“Louis we need to talk.” I felt my smile fall as she just stared at me.

“About what?” I played dumb and hoped she would drop the subject. Of course, she did no such things and pressed forward.

“Please just stop.” She spoke so low I almost didn’t catch what she said. I looked at her and saw the pure hurt in her eyes. “Stop acting like I am the one causing you pain. I told you I wasn’t ready, you told me you understood.” She looked so helpless when she stood in front of me, begging me to explain. “Just. Why do you hate me so much?” She looked at the floor and sighed.

“I don’t hate you.” I heard myself speak but the voice sounded strange, it didn’t sound like mine. It sounded like someone scared. She sighed again and looked up at me.

“I know. The boys told me you brought her here.” She pointed to the other side of the bar where Sophie stood watching us. When she noticed us staring she waved. I looked back at Jo and gave her a weak smile.

“Yeah I did.” She smiled sweetly and waited for me to continue. “I knew that even though you said you were fine with being alone I felt like you didn’t mean it. And Sophie is someone that you can do stuff with.” I looked away from her beautiful eyes and felt my heart drop. I wanted so bad to be there for her.

“Thank you.” I noticed that she stepped forward and before I could react she placed her finger on my chin and lifted up head up. My eyes met hers and I felt like a little boy with my beating heart and sweaty palms. I looked at her with longing eyes as she leaned closer and closer to me. I stopped breathing as her forehead rested against mine. She closed her eyes and I kept mine open. I watched her and it looked like she was having a war with herself. She stayed exactly like that for a couple of minutes before speaking in the softest voice.

“I am so sorry.” Again I almost missed what she said. The moments went by so fast and before I knew it she had turned around. She grabbed the guy nearest to her and shoved her face onto his. She began snogging him like crazy and I felt sick. I felt rage and jealousy rise in my stomach. I stood up from the barstool. I grabbed her arm and ripped her from the strange man in front of her. She turned around and looked at me with anger in her eyes. The fact that she seemed mad at me made me even madder. I wanted to punch the guy she had been kissing.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” I practically screamed at her. I was so mad at her for being so close to me and then just turning around, kissing someone in front of me. She had told me she wasn’t ready. She took a deep breath as she stared at me.

“What I want Louis.” I kept my gaze on her. I couldn’t find the words to say how hurt I was. “And what I don’t want Louis, is you.” In pure shock I let go of her arm and she turned and walked away from me. I felt my heart break into a hundred pieces and it didn’t feel good. I stood there staring out into the crowd. How could she? A single tear slid down my cheek.
