Chapter 19

“That’s the last of it.” Georgia said, sighing shortly after. I looked around at all the boxes packed up. I will miss this place. Sort of.

It was the next day from our incident with the recording cameras. Georgia and I decided to move to my parent’s house for a while. And by while, I mean until all of this creepy, scary text messages would stop and we knew we were safe.

“I should probably text Harry and tell him that we moved. And the address if he wants to come over.” I said to Georgia, taking out my phone and doing it. She nodded.

We both hopped in the car; I hopped in the passenger side.

“Should I tell Harry about all the texts?” I asked Georgia after a few minutes. She hesitated before speaking.

“Um... I don’t know. I don’t think so... I mean, you can, but I reckon you should wait a bit more into your relationship until you do.” She replied. I nodded.

“Stop! You missed the turn!” I said loudly.

“Shoot.” Georgia mumbled.

She turned around, going back.

We arrived at the house, taking out bags of stuff with us.

On my second trip for all our items, I saw Georgia talking to someone. A head of blonde hair that I was all too familiar with.

“Rose!” Niall smiled. Niall was my ex-boyfriend; I hadn’t seen him since high school. He lived in the house just across from the one we have now.

“Hey.” I smiled, surprised he was here. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

“I’m gonna go and put this boxes in the house.” Georgia said, pointing to the house and leaving us alone.

“I heard about your... parents. I’m really sorry, Rose. They were great people.” He bit his lip.

“It’s fine. I’ve gotten over it... sort of.” I replied.

“That’s good. Are you moving back in now?” He asked.

“Yeah, with Georgia.” I smiled. “So, what have you been up to since high school?” I asked again.

“Still into university but just flew down here to see the family for Christmas.” He answered. “You?”

“Well, I moved in with Georgia, got a job at that cafe. I was going to go to university too, but then my parents... you know, so I put it off for then.” I said. He nodded smiling.

“I missed you.” He said quietly.

“I missed you too.” I smiled.

My brain suddenly remembered Harry, my boyfriend who would probably not like it if I was talking to my ex-boyfriend. I shouldn’t be contacting him. I’d hate it if it were the other way around. This isn’t a good thing to be here with him.

“Um, I gotta go back inside. It’s getting a bit chilly. Talk soon?” I said, dropping my smile.

“Yeah, it was good to see you.” He smiled, he went in for a hug and I tensed up. Niall stopped the hug.

“Sorry, um, didn’t think. Uh, bye.” He waved, giving me an awkward smile. I smiled back; awkwardly. I watched him as he walked back into his house.

I sighed, covering my face with my hands. I shut the back door of the car, noticing it was empty, so Georgia must’ve taken all the bags inside.

“Hey!” I jumped at the voice. I turned around quickly.

“Hey, Harry.” I grinned, kissing him on the lips. How long had he been there?

“Nice house.” He smiled, looking up at it. It was one of the white, two story, and suburban looking homes.

“Thanks?” I replied, a little bit uncertain of how to answer. It still didn’t feel like it was mine.

“Can I have a tour?” He grinned cheekily.

“Sure thing.” I laughed, taking his hand and walking inside. It was really warm; Georgia must’ve turned the fireplace on.

“Hey, Georgia.” Harry waved.

“Oh, hey.” She smiled. She was crouching down on the floor, looking through the boxes and trying to sort the stuff out.

“Well, there is the kitchen, there is the lounge room.” I started, pointing towards the rooms. Those two were in the same place.

I still had Harry’s hand in mine, so I led him upstairs.

“There is the bathroom.” I pointed again.

“Nice tiles.” I heard Harry quietly comment. I chuckled.

We walked around the whole house, I showed him all of the rooms, except for one.

“Here is my bedroom.” I said. It was my parents bedroom before.

Harry and I were standing in the door way together. I saw Harry look at me in the corner of my eye. I looked back at him. He licked his lips.

“It’s very nice.” He whispered. He brought his head down to my lips, kissing me roughly. I lifted my hands up to his hair.

“Um.” I heard a voice say behind us. Harry and I split apart immediately.

“Uh...” I said, scratching the back of my head.

“I’m just going to leave this box here.” Georgia laughed, putting a box down and walking out the room, closing the door behind her.

“That was a little embarrassing.” I laughed. Harry just shrugged, smiling.

“What are you doing for Christmas?” I asked Harry. We were currently lying down on my bed, just talking.

“Uh... didn’t have anything planned.” He shrugged.

“Family?” I offered out.

“No... Um, they don’t really contact me anymore.” He replied in an uneasy voice.

“Why?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. He looked over at me, biting his lip.

“I don’t really have a good past.” He said. I didn’t know whether I should ask or not what happened. “I’m not a good person, Rose.” He whispered.

“I don’t care.” I said, smiling slightly.

“I’m sorry.” He said.

“Why are you saying sorry? I don’t mind at all.” I said, worried.

“I’m so sorry.” He repeated.

“You’re scaring me. Did you do something?” I asked him, sitting up and looking at him. He looked at his hands and grimaced in thought.

 “Harry?” I mumbled, confused.

“I gotta run, get home to Louis. I’ll see you later.” He smiled again, his damn dimpled almost distracting me and getting up from the bed.

“No, wait! What were you saying sorry about?” I quickly said.

He bit his lip again, looking at me in thought. He shook his head and leaned down, kissing me swiftly on the lips.

“Thanks for letting me see your house.” He smiled.

“You’re welcome..?” I muttered, confused to why he was acting so odd.

He smiled... again, then left the room.

“What the heck?” I mumbled to myself. What was that?

“So, what’d you and Harry get up to?” Georgia asked me, wiggling her eyebrows. I scowled at her.

“We talked.” I said.

“Yeah, ‘talked’.” She said, giving me an obnoxious wink.

“Yeah. Sort of.” I replied, letting out a laugh.

“Should I turn myself in?” Georgia asked in a quiet voice.

“Turn yourself in?”

“Yeah, Caroline...”

I furrowed my eyebrows. Georgia must be feeling like crap. I wouldn’t know what to do in her position.

“No.” I shook my head after a moment of thought.

“Why not?” She asked.

“Just... I don’t know what I’d do without you. Other than Harry, you’re all I have.” I said. She gulped and nodded her head.

“I feel so bad...” She said quietly. I bit my lip, not replying.

“I’m going to go grocery shopping. You have work, remember?” I said. She nodded her head and got up, walking off to her room to get ready, I presume.

I sighed, tying my hair up and then walking out of the house. The perks of being in this house was that it was so close to town, you could just walk and you’d be there in about ten minutes.

My arms were hurting a little, I hate been strolling around the shops for about half an hour now. I was taking a little longer than usual from being a little bit tired.

“Caroline?” I asked out, seeing a blonde head of hair that looked way too familiar. The person turned around.

“Sorry...Though you were someone else...” I smiled awkwardly in embarrassment.

“It’s fine.” She smiled and walked off.

I bit my lip. Caroline wasn’t here. She wasn’t here at all.

I sighed and walked out to the cashier.

Once all my stuff was payed for, I sped walked to my car. I hopped inside and got ready to drive home.

I am currently laying on my bed, clueless for what to do.

I got my phone out, calling Harry.

“Hey, Rose.” He answered. “How are you?” He asked in a bit of a hushed tone.

“I’m good. Why are you speaking so quietly?” I asked, smiling to myself at his voice.

“Not allowed phones where I am at, at the moment.” He replied, laughing a little.

“Oh, sorry. Uh, never mind then.” I said, getting ready to end the call.

“No! Wait, why’d you call?” He asked quickly.

“I was gonna ask what you were doing.” I answered him.

“Oh... I should be free in about... three hours?” He replied, uneasily.

“It’s fine.” I said. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow?”

“Yep! Okay. See ya.” He said.

“Bye,” I smiled, then hung up.

Who else was there? Georgia was at work, and she was really the only friend I have.

Well, except...

I took my phone out, looking for his number. He finally answered.

“Niall! Hey!”
