Chapter 16

“Bye.” I smiled at Harry as we had walked to my front door.

“Bye,” he said back to me. He kissed my cheek and then walked back to his car. I watched him as he drove off, sending a wave during.

I turned around and jumped when I saw Georgia.

“That was cute.” She smiled slightly. I smiled back at her happily.

“Why aren’t you asleep?” I asked.

“Couldn’t go to sleep... All I could think of was... you know.” She said, referring to Caroline and looking down. It was only when she looked up I had realised her eyes were watery.

“Are you okay now?” I almost whispered. She nodded, forcing a smile.

“I think I just need to relax. Like... Go to the spa. Do you wanna come? We should be finished before your work?” She asked me.

“Yeah sure. When are we going to go?” I replied.

“Uh... Probably after we have lunch.” She answered me.

“Okay. Looking forward to it then.” I nodded, smiling at her. She yawned.

“I’m going to try and get some more sleep.” She mumbled.

“’Kay, goodnight.” I said. I heard her mutter a small ‘goodnight’ then leave for her room. I yawned, deciding to go to bed myself, but having a shower first.

“Let me sleep a bit longer, Georgia.” I mumbled out and turned my head around under my pillow, not bothering to look at her. It was silent for a few seconds until I heard the door shut. I sighed happily at the silence and tried to go back to sleep.

Unluckily, the headache I was expecting to come had arrived. So I decided to get up and get some medicine.

It was 12:40 on the clock as I walked in the kitchen.

After having some medicine, making and eating some eggs on toast and a coffee, I turned on the TV and watched the news for a bit.

“Morning,” I heard Georgia’s voice sigh. I jumped and turned around,

“You scared me!” I told her. She shrugged and walked into the kitchen.

“What are you watching?” She asked me.

“Just the news, the ads are on at the moment.” I replied.

“Did you make eggs for yourself and only yourself?” She asked me, looking at the pan and back to me crossing her head.

“Well, I was going to make you some but I assumed you had already made yourself something.” I shrugged. “Sorry.” I added.

“I only just woke up, idiot.” She said jokingly. I straightened up and looked at her confusedly. “What?” She asked me worriedly.

“You only just woke up?” I asked. She nodded slowly. “...Then who was in my room this morning?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

“I wasn’t in your room this morning.” She answered, gulping. My breathing quickened.

“This isn’t a joke, is it?” I asked her.

“No,” She shook her head. “It isn’t.” She added.

I walked over to the front door, noticing it was slightly left open.

“It’s open...” I mumbled before I opened it fully. I felt Georgia walk past me out the door. She stopped and leaned down to pick up something.

“What? What is it?” I asked her eagerly. She had a piece of paper in her hands.

“’Make sure you always lock your door. Who knows who could break in? From Anonymous.” Georgia read out. I fiddles with my fingers as I thought about what she said.

“That’s... creepy.” I said. “Do you reckon he-... the person did anything else? Other than come into my room?” I asked her.

“I don’t think so... I hope not.” Georgia bit her lip. “Let’s just go to the spa.”

“Mhmm...” I said to Georgia as we walked out. “That was nice.”

“I know. I feel so fresh.” Georgia replied, laughing slightly.

“Rose!” I heard a voice call out. I turned around.

“Hey, Harry.” I smiled as he walked up to me,

“Hi. Oh, hi... Georgia, right?” Harry said.

“Yeah, hey.” Georgia said. Georgia leaned up to my ear.

“He’s hot.” She whispered. I laughed for a bit, and then turned back to Harry, who was smirking. I hope the reason for it wasn’t that he heard her. I doubt it though, Georgia was very quiet.

“What are you doing down here?” I asked him. His house was far away from here.

“Getting some food because this place’s food store is way better then my local one.” He replied. I nodded. “What are you doing?” He asked us.

“Spa.” I answered him, pointing at the building behind me.

“Oh, nice. I’m gonna go because Louis is waiting for me. We gonna go have some- get some food.” He smiled. I waved back, smiling.

“Bye.” I said.

“Bye Rose. It was nice to meet you, Georgia. Bye.” He said.

“Bye.” Georgia waved.

“Oh. Rose, do you want to come to my place tomorrow night? I found a recipe that I really want to try out.” He asked me.

“Yeah, sure!” I grinned. “What time?”

“Uh... 5:30 good?”  He questioned.

“Yeah!” I smiled.

“Ok. Bye.” He grinned, and then ran off.

“Ooh, date night at his place.” Georgia said once he disappeared, wiggling her eyebrows. I slapped her lightly on the arm playfully.

“Do you like him?” I asked her eagerly,

“I’ve only had one conversation with him. But yeah, he seems nice. And, I repeat, hot.” She replied, nodding her head.

“Hehe.” I said jokingly.

“You gotta get ready for work. And I gotta get more groceries.” She said.

“Yeah, come one. Let’s go.” I replied.

“Hey, Amelia.” I said to my co-worker as I walked in. She waved back smiling.

“Really empty today,” She commented to me as I was putting my apron on.

“Yeah. Must be the weather,” I replied, looking out the window at the rain pouring.

“Mhm.” She nodded. “Hey! Did you hear? Somebody got killed a few streets from down here?” She said. My eyes widened.

“What? Really? Why haven’t I heard of this?” I asked.

“It only happened a few hours ago.” She answered.

“Oh my god. Do they know who the killer is?” I questioned. She shook her head. I heard the door open and a customer come in. I sighed and got ready to finish my night of work.
