Chapter 13

“Georgia?” I called out.

“In here!” A croaky voice said from the hallway.

“Where’s ‘here’?” I called back.

“My bedroom.” She yelled.

I walked inside her bedroom, to see her cooped up on her bed. She took her earphones out when I walked in.

“How are you so calm?” She asked me.

“I don’t know.” I replied. Truth is, I did know. The news still hadn’t hit me. Part of me still believes this is a horrid prank that Georgia and Caroline are doing together. I can believe Caroline’s under Georgia’s bed, videotaping me believe all this so she can put it up on Youtube. But deep down, a part of me believes what Georgia’s saying is true, I’m just too stubborn to accept it.

“You took longer than usual... Did you boss keep you in late?” Georgia asked me with a small voice.

“No... Harry actually was there and I stayed after and had dinner with him.” I answered, “Guess what?” I asked her excitedly.

“What?” She asked me.

“Harry kissed me! He kissed me! Georgia, I think I really like this guy! He’s so... amazing. And fantastic. He’s made me so happy, even if we aren’t even together! He’s just so... awesome.” I said, smiling widely.

“That explains why you’re so happy.” Georgia smiled slightly, then stopped and sighed looking down at the ground.

“Yeah, I guess.” I smiled. “Have you had dinner yet?” I asked her.

“Yeah, I made myself a cheesie.” She replied.

“Oh, ok.” I replied, nodding. We looked at each other for a couple of seconds. As I was about to leave, Georgia called me back in.

“Yeah?” I asked her. She looked at me with worried eyes and then stretched her arm out towards me to give me her phone. I took it confusedly and looked at the screen. It was a conversation in text.

“The person has been texting me.” She cried. I read the texts.

‘I know what you did last night.

You killed her - my girlfriend.

I will get you back.

Georgia was sobbing on my bed sobbing unconditionally with her knees to her chest. I stood frozen in my spot, my stare stuck to her.

Realisation had finally come in. Georgia murdered Caroline. She stabbed her. Caroline’s family was probably still home right now wondering what happened to Caroline. Caroline’s boyfriend who we never go the name of is now broken hearted. They could’ve been in love.  My hand covered my mouth as I sobbed and ran out her room, grabbing my keys and phone, walking out of our house.

I opened my car door and turned the car on, driving to the one place I felt safe.

I opened the door and walked inside.

It had been so long since I last walked inside my parent’s house. Mine now. The familiar smell was there as I walked into the living room. I walked over to the couch and sat down, looking around the room. I noticed a Vogue magazine half open on the coffee table in front of me and an empty mug. I picked it up and put it in the sink in the kitchen, sighing and looking around.

I walked upstairs to where my bedroom use to be. The room was very tidy, my Mum probably cleaned it while I didn’t live here. I frowned at the thought of my Mum. I missed her so much. I wanted to see her again. Even if it was for five minutes... Same goes with Dad. I walked over to my cupboard door where it was covered fully by pictures. Most of them were of me and my friends, or just me. But there was lots of me, Mum and Dad. I took one off, sitting on the bed and looking down at it. I felt a few tears start to form in my eyes. I will never be able to see them again... Ever. The tears finally fell and I sobbed on my bed, thinking about my parents.

I snuggled up closer in the bed. I stayed the night here, I just didn’t want to go back to the house Georgia and I shared.

After about 10 more minutes of just laying in bed, I finally got up. I turned my phone on to see the time, 11:34. There was lots of messages from Georgia, and one from Harry.

Georgia: Rose, are you okay?!

Georgia: ROSE?!

Georgia: Rose, please reply!

Georgia: Rose?

Georgia: I’m sorry.

Harry: Good morning, beautiful. x

I replied to Georgia with ‘I’m fine.’ And for Harry a good morning back.

I walked through, into my parents closet and looking through my Mum’s side of clothing. Her clothes fit me even though I am a bit taller... Was a bit taller.

I decided on a white blouse, some black skinny jeans and some sandals. Today wasn’t bad weather – only sprinkling, so I was going to spend the day out shopping for some clothes.

I walked into the bathroom and looked through the drawers for the spare toothbrushes Mum and Dad always kept from the hotels they stayed in. They came with little toothpaste tubes.

Once I was finished getting ready, I hopped in the car and started driving.

I quietly opened the door, hopping inside Georgia and I’s house.

“Where were you?!”

I jumped, turning around.

“Hey.” I mumbled to Georgia.

“Where were you? I’ve been so worried! You could have been kidnapped!” Georgia said to me.

“I stayed the night at my parent’s house... my house.” I replied.

“Oh. Well, at least you safe.” She sighed.

I walked over to the kitchen bench, where my bag was located.

“Where are you going now?” She asked me.

“Going shopping.” I answered.

“Alone..?” She asked me.

“Yes.” I replied.

“Uh... okay, then. Bye.” She said to me.

I waved my hand at her lazily without actually looking, and hopped into my car.

I crossed my legs as I sat alone in a booth at Mcdonalds, eating my pancakes while scrolling through Facebook on my phone.

“Hey, there.” I heard a voice say.

“Hi.” I replied, to the complete stranger.

“What are you doing by yourself? You’re so beautiful.” The man said.

“Eating. Uh... thanks.” I said to him, awkwardly smiling at returning to my food.

I heard him puff out some air and return to your own booth. My phone beeped and I looked down at it. It was from Harry.

How are you? X

I smiled, replying with – ‘Fantastic, you?’

He replied almost instantly.

Just a bit tired. Can I call you?

I replied with a ‘yes’, and answered his phone call.

“Hey!” I said.

“Hi!” He said dragging out the ‘i’.

“What have you been doing?” I asked him.

“Just been at home, alone. Louis has been at work all day.” He said sadly. “You?”

“I’m shopping. Currently eating some McDonalds’.” I said. He was silent for a bit.

“Are you there alone?” He asked me.

“Yeah, why?” I answered.

“There’s some creepy people in that mall. I don’t want you to get hurt...” He said to me.

“I’ve shopped here since I was like 14 and nothing has happened, ever.” I said to Harry.

“Yeah, nothing’s happened to you... Please be safe?” He asked me.

“I am safe!” I said stubbornly.

“I know... Just... watch out.” He told me.

“Okay,” I sighed.

“Good.” He replied happily.

“So was there a reason why you called me?” I asked him.

“No, just checking up on you.” He said.

“Checking up on me?” I asked him.

“Yeah...” He said.

“Oh, okay. Well, I’m fine! Nothing’s odd’s been going on.” I said.

“Awesome.” He said. “Hey... I was wondering. Louis and I are hosting a party tonight, do you want to come? You can bring those friends of yours..?” He asked me.

“Yes please! And no, my friends have... work to do.” I lied.

“Oh, okay. So the party starting around 8. Do you want me to pick you up?” He asked me.

“Uh, yeah... If you don’t mind. I don’t know the way to your house...” I said.

“Yeah, didn’t think so. Be ready at 7:45.” He said to me.

“Okay, I will.” I replied.

“Oh, and do you have work tomorrow?” He asked me.

“Yeah, but it’s a night shift.” I said.

“Okay, good. If it was a morning shift, you’ll be very tired.” He laughed.

“Yeah, probably.” I laughed back.

“I’ll leave you to shop now... bye, beautiful.” He said.

“Bye, Harry.” I said back, smiling.

I finished my pancakes and left Mcdonalds.

I looked at the dress that was on me in the dressing room mirror. I had found a nice, plain black one. It ended about mid thigh. I had some heels at home that would look perfect with it. I smiled, taking the dress off and deciding to get this one.

After I bought it, I walked out of the shops. My arms were hurting as I had about three bags in each hand. It was almost 4PM so I decided to go home.

Opening my car door, I put my bags in. My shoulder got tugged and turned around.

“Ow! What- Zayn? Hi? Why’d you do that?!” I asked him.

“Your best friend, Georgia? Yeah?” Zayn said to me angrily.

“What about her..? What’s wrong?” I asked him nervously.

“She murdered my girlfriend.”
