The day he left...

I had a very strange dream the other night, which resultyed in my coming up with this little... Story.
I am not exactly sure where i9t is going or anything but I really felt I needed to write it.

It is about a girl, and her story of what happened to her brother who went missing when she was younger.

Im not a hundred percent sure what the rating should be as the theme may be a little "mature" later on... I am reallly not sure yet. So up to you I guess.

8. Free ride

When I got on the ride, nausea overtook straight away, and I wished straight away that I was not on it. The thing with rides though is that your strapped in. I had always been taught this was for your safety and would keep you safe, but this time, as the man running the ride grinned and snapped the bar down across our knees, I felt as though it was a cruel thing designed to keep you trapped for the duration of the ride and prevent you escaping to freedom.

I remember the feeling of that ride clearly, the swooping sensation followed by the feeling of your innards crushing down together towards your feet, before you swerved round a tight bend and began to rise for the next peak. The ride went round three times, before stopping suddenly enough to give you a whiplash, back where you started, with the same man un-clipping the bar which had held you in place throughout the ride.

"Would you like another go?" He asked, a smirk on his face. Maria shook her head faintly, and I remained silent, because I did not care either way now what we went on. I was counting down till home time. An hour left before I could leave.

"What about you Jodie?" He asked me, I turned to look at him.

"How do you know my name?" I asked him quietly, so quietly I wondered he could hear it, but evidently he did.

"I know your parents. You look a lot like your Dad." He replied, "Now did you want another go? I will let you ride free."

I looked at his face, I could not recognise him, no photos of him at our house. Then again... We didn't take photos any more as a general rule. I wanted to say no, reject the offer of the ride, because it was terrifying. The name of the ride was more apt than I had first imagined. Terror.

"Sure." I said, and he smirked wider still, or maybe that was his smile. I couldn't tell.

"Are you mental?" Maria demanded, turning to face me with a look of anger, shock and a slight amount of awe on her face.

"So they tell me." I whispered, climbing back in the cart. Maria stepped back, walking off the platform.

"I will wait here." She told me, still shaking her head.

I went through the ride again, on my own this time it seemed even more terrifying, and the downward plunges all the more heart stopping. Unless I was mistaken, it went round more than three times. Perhaps five.

"Another go?" He asked when it stopped, and I nodded eagerly, and he let me ride again, and again.

"No!" Maria said, suddenly a while later when he asked me again if I wanted a go again.

"Why?" I asked, slightly irritated at her now.

"Because we have three minutes exactly to get you home!" She shouted, jerking me out of the ride by my arm. "Thank you for your many rides Mr, but we must be going."She snapped at the man on her way off the platform. I thought he would stop her from leaving with me, the look on his face showed him contemplating it, but I glanced at him, and he merely smirked/smiled again.

"Were here till next Thursday." He said, more to me than her, before waving with two fingers and turning away to a crowd of customers I had not noticed before, but that were all tapping their foot and waiting for a ride.

"What the hell are you playing at?" Maria muttered as we reached the town once more. "That creep is like twice your age, if not more."

"He only gave me a free ride Maria..." I replied easily, walking a little ahead.

I started going to the fair more and more, leaving earlier and arriving later, sometimes only just making six. I only went on a few rides though... One in particular, because I always offered free rides. Every time the ride appeared deserted until I left.

Terror. Ride if you dare.
