14. 2.9 Am I Over Him Yet?

“You did what?” I asked him again. Maybe I just heard him wrong.

“I told them I was getting married to a girl named Chelsea.” Javier repeated with obvious uneasiness and guilt written on his face.

“You have got to be shitting me.” I said to him with a deadly glare.

“Hey! Be thankful I did. If I said some other girl’s name and then showed up here with you, wouldn’t you think that’s a bit suspicious?” he whispered to me.

I get his point but….. okay I don’t have any excuses. I do get his point I’m just over reacting. I mean, he only told Darcy. It’s not like everybody really thinks were getting married, it’s just Darcy, right?

“Hey! Chelsea, my dear!” Greeted Mrs. Austin, she’s a jolly old lady and she was my algebra teacher back in high school. “I heard you and Mr. Robinson are engaged! I’m so happy for you!” she said as she pulled me into a hug. “Sammy’s not worth it. I’m glad you found Javier.” She whispered to me.

“Thank you, Mrs. Austin.” That was the only reply I could think of.

Then I looked at Javier and sent him a death glare. How the hell did Mrs. Austin know about the engagement?

“I don’t know!” Javier mouthed to me. All of a sudden I was being pulled to the balcony.

“Why is it that everybody knows about your engagement and I don’t?” Sasha inquired to me. “I’m your bestfriend!”

“W-Well, we—we--- uhm.” Shit.

“It was supposed to be a surprise, we were gonna announce it today, but my big mouth couldn’t seem to keep it a secret.” Javier said as he appeared out of nowhere.

“Y-yes that’s it! I was gonna tell you first, but like he said, Javier’s big mouth spoiled the surprise.” I added.

“Really?” Sasha asked me,

I nodded.

“Well just so you know, I am so happy for you. Finally you found someone better that your lunkheaded ex. You deserve to be happy.” Then she pulled me into a tight, tight, bone-crushing-tight hug. “And you.” She pointed her finger to Javier. “I will personally castrate you and make sure you never reproduce if you ever hurt Chelsea. Understood?!” she said in a motherly like approach.

“I promise.” Javier said seriously.

“He’s quite a good catch. Nice job honey.” Sasha whispered to me which made me laugh.

“He is a good catch, thank you.” I replied hooking my arms on Javier’s.

“Fine fine, I’ll go ahead. See you around you two. Congratulations again.” Sasha said as she strutted away.

“I am a good catch thank you.” Javier teased me as we entered the main hall once again.

“Don’t flatter yourself, Robinson.” I said then he chuckled at me. I really thought I was enjoying myself, I thought that I was finally getting over… him… But then…

Oh. Hello there Chelsea.” I know that voice. Very well. I thought she was my bestfriend, well she was until she decided to steal my ‘boyfriend’.

“Carrie. Fancy meeting you here.” I said in a not so fancied manner, then there he was, the man who was behind all my sadness, “Sammy. Good to see you again.” I said trying to hide the bitterness in me.

“It’s nice seeing you to here, Chelsea.” Sammy said. I don’t know if I was imagining things but, I think I saw a hint of… guilt?

Was I right? Was he guilty? I was brought back to reality by someone cleaning their throats. Then I looked over to Javier who was giving me an intense meaningful stare.

“Anyway, this is Javier Robinson, my,, fiancé. Javier, this is Carrie and Sammy.” I simply said.

“Fiancé?” Carrie asked, with an annoying hint of disbelief. “W-well, it was nice meeting you.”

“Y-yeah.” Sammy said. “May I be excused? I need to make a phone call.”

And with that he left.

I looked at his retreating figure, and I cant help but wonder, Am I over him yet?
