7. 2.2 Painfully Wonderful Memory

Although Javier did help make me understand that it was not my fault, I still can't help but feel guilty.

I mean, I must admit, I did things that annoyed him but never to the point where I cheated on him.

"Hey, Clay? I'm going out okay? I'll see you later." I said to Clay on my way out.

"Do you need someone to go with? I could call Javier." He suggested.

"No thanks. I'll be fine." I said.

"Okay. Take care and call me if you need anything."

I headed to the nearest mall. Thought I could do some shopping and all. But all I see are couples, couples and more couples.

  Just great... Sarcasm there.

So I thought I'd go to the park. Then I see more couples and more couples and married couples and more married couples and-

"You're not really helping yourself." Someone told me. But even without looking I know who it was. The green-eyed, light brown-haired and pink lips. Damn Javier Robinson.

"And you're trying to kill me. That's so not cool dude." I said, not even looking at him.

"Ssup, anyway?" He asked. "Feeling any better?"

"I guess. I don't know. But I'm much better than the first day." I said.

  "Well that's good."

  Then awkward silence.

"Where do you want to go? I mean, since we're both here and have nothing to do, why don't we hang out?" He said.

  "The amusement park." I said.

  "Sure. Come on."

To say I regretted it was an understatement. Not that I didn't enjoy my time with Javier but too many memories came back.

"Do you wanna ride the ferris wheel?" Javier asked. But as I looked at it....

"This is so far, the best date ever." I said tok Sam as we are now looking at the city's view, at the top of a ferris wheel.

"So you're saying you didn't enjoy the former dates?" He asked me teasingly, with a mocking hurt look.

"No, no. Of course I did. I enjoy spending time with you." I said to him truthfully.

"Then why don't we make it official?" He asked again.

He's been courting me for a courting me for almost a year now.
And I don't know if I should say yes just yet.

"Fine, fine. I'll wait. I'll wait until you're ready. Even if I must wait forever." He said oh so sincerely.

"If you want to stop now, I wouldn't stop you." I said. Although it somehow disappointed me.

"No, no, I won't. I'll wait. I love you, Chelsea. I want to be with you. Forever."

I can see in his eyes that he's serious and honest and without my full consent, those three words came out of my mouth.

  "I love you too."

"Hey, you okay?" Javier called out. "You've spaced out."

"Yeah, I'm fine sorry." Then I remembered his offer. "A lot of painfully wonderful memories flashed through my mind." I admitted.

"If you don't want to then we don't have to." He said.

"No, I think I'll be fine." I insisted. I walked towards the ferris wheel but he grabbed my hand.

"If you don't want to then we don't have to." He repeated.

"I'm fine. I promise." I said. Then he looked at me.

"Don't worry. Those painfully wonderful memories of yours, I'll replace them with wonderfully annoying memories." He teased. "Last to climb the gondola is a monkey's uncle!" He shouted as he ran towards it.

"How mature!" I said but I ran too, hoping to catch him.

Hoping he would fulfill his promise. I hope, I hope this time, this won't end up as a painfully wonderful memory.
