The Movellas Interview Diary

I took this off and I'm putting it back up again (Nov, 2015). Enjoy! - Here you will find interviews with some of the most talented on Movellas. They will tell you about their likes, dislikes, favourite authors/books, weird talents, goals, ambitions, celebrity crushes and much more. Oh and they will also shed some light on the much debated and controversial question slash topic or whatever you wanna call it, that has been discussed since the dawn of man: is it okay to turn your underwear inside out so it can last a little longer... okay, maybe not that last one...

BASIC INFO

Name:Becky

Age:15

Your best piece of work on Movellas:Occupational Hazard

Likes:The Script, Bo Bruce, Chocolate (chocoholic here), Badminton, Hockey, Rounders, Friends and Rounders

Dislikes: Health food, conflict, people looking down on people, X factor,

Favourite Author: That's so hard... James Patterson, Cornelia Funke, Michael Scott, Maeve Binchy

Books you recommend: Maximum Ride, The Alchemist, Inkheart, The Belgariad

What makes you stop reading a book: When it's boring or depressing. If I don't really want to read on after the first three chapters I'll probably just go and get another book.  I can't cope with sad stuff, there's enough of that in real life.

What makes you read a book more than once: I find it really hard to read a book twice because there's no more suspense and I know what's going to happen. But if I do re-read a book it's probably because I REALLY enjoyed it and have forgotten a lot of the details.

Do you have a weird talent: I have independent eyes??? They can go in different directions. I can bend my thumb backwards-a bit.

Celebrity Crush:Danny O'Donoghue... It's not really a crush, it's more of a fantasy marriage.

QUESTION TIME!

Hello TF, how are you today?

I'm fine thank you.

Let's get this show on the road, shall we? So what made you want to join Movellas?

My mum showed it to me and it's a great place to get feedback and read genuinely good books for free and you can read them any time!!! Also to meet like minded people, when I say I'm trying to write a book people look at you like you're a looney and deluded but it's great to meet open-minded honest people.

Tallulahflanjee – that's a pretty awesome username, how did you come up with it?

Thanks!! The Flanjee is from Friends the TV show, but I spelt it wrong... For a wannabe author I really need to spell better :/ And I've always thought Tallulah is an underappreciated name, everyone thinks it's silly but I just love it!!! It sounds really weird to say... (I thought the Flanjee bit was from friends, when Phoebe tells Rachel that there's something wrong with the left phalange on the plane -Friends is awesome!)

When did you start writing and what made you want to write?

I've always written and loved creative writing. When I was little (like 6) even on holiday I wrote little stories, drew the covers and tied them together with string... I might put some of them online actually because they are comedy genius... although unintentional at the time. I love to write - I think that anyone who likes to write has an overactive imagination and it makes it hard to concentrate... (try imagining people in lessons as rabbits and then comparing who makes the best rabbit. It's hours of fun) It's good to just write a story and escape into someone else's world.

What do you think is the difference between a good story and a great one?

Good books have ins and outs and it's good to check up on the characters and you probably learn something from them and can appreciate their perspective but a great book is one that I can't physically can't stop reading and I have to just get it out the post and sit for 2hrs until I've finished. One that makes you go WOW!!!

Choose any one of the stories you've written on here... once you've done that, can you list a few actors/actresses who would play the characters if it was to be turned into a movie?

This is like an actual fantasy I like to have... Okay so in Occupational Hazard... Casey, I'd love.. the girl who played Rosie in Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging but she's probably too old. I'd really like Chloë Grace Moretz, she played the teenage girl in Dark Shadows and she has the same attitude as Casey, adventurous, strong willed and sarky. If I'm honest in the fantasy, Daniel Craig plays Grant and in the fantasy either Liam Hemsworth or Josh Hutcherson plays Nathan.... and then the fantasy ends usually with me being Casey so that I get to kiss Liam Hemsworth and/or Josh Hutcherson...

What is the best thing about writing?

Just escaping from it all. Creating characters you want to be or know and then ruining their lives to give yourself some problem solving practice and to make real life problems seem less bad.

On your profile page you say that you're a sucker for romance (as am I! Who doesn't like a good cheesy-and-totally-predictable-love-story!) what is it about romance that you really like?

I love the happy ending. I just think stuff never turns out like it should in real life but it's nice to think it could. I just love people being happy and in love it's such an amazing idea and I love to think people can have stuff like that. Any couple who are happy I find cute. Just someone special to support you and be happy with forever it's the closest to magic we have...

If you were to go to an isolated desert island for 12 months and could only take two and a half things – what would would you take?

And a half??? Haha. Assuming we have food and water to survive... My iPod (to write on and surf the internet... I know there's no internet on desert islands but I'm coming to that) electricity to charge it and half an internet connection. I'd drive myself insane on my own, talking to myself doesn't really offer a variety of opinions... I like the outdoors, the freedom, so I'd be fine with island life. But I am a nerd at heart so I need some kind of communication device...

What piece of advice would you give to aspiring authors around the world?

I can't really give advice I've not got published or won anything but I'd love to one day. All I'd say is write, write, write!!! Find the genre you are good at and enjoy writing, it might be journalism or scripting not just book writing -but then carry on writing and trying to get people to read it so you can improve and get it out there!!

QUICK-FIRE ROUND

Candy or Chocolate?

Chocolate- I'm a chocaholic, I should've put it on my desert island list but maybe I can learn to farm cocoa beans and cows or something?? I'll look it up on my iPod when I get there.

Cats or Dogs?

Dogs-I'd probably cry if my cat brought in something dead.

The Hunger Games or The Alchemyst Series?

The Alchemyst. I love the Hunger Games but I won't lie, I still love magic and fantasy- and Michael Scott makes it all seem so real and exciting.
Rain or Snow?

Snow!!! Snowball fights feature in my story it just gives me an excuse to act like a three year old without being stared at... much.

Rich or Poor?

I don't think it matters as long as your happy. It depends how I got like that. I couldn't be rich off the back of someone else. But if I'd made the money myself I'd like to be rich rather than poor, just because I'm lazy really and I could write all day without having to worry about earning a living.

Cola or Pepsi?

Neither. Apple Juice. That's probably against the rules. So Pepsi, the underdog haha.

BGT (Britain's got talent) or The Voice?

THE VOICE!!!!!! I'm completely in love with Danny and itthey don't "mould" their contestants as much and they don't laugh at the contestants. I hate it when they embarrass them because although it's funny and I'll laugh, their dreams are being publicly shattered and they're humiliated.

Sunshine or Rain?

Sunshine... I'm like... the opposite of a vampire... a pirevam I hate the rain. Unless it's absolutely throwing it down, then it's fun to just run around in!!

Interviewee note:

Thank you so much for doing this!!! I appreciate I'm a bit strange but everyone's a bit strange at heart. I hope so anyway, it can't just be me. Feel free to talk to me I enjoy talking...
