17. Chapter sixteen Graduation

Monday day of Graduation.

Santana and the rest of the girls were getting ready for graduation. While the boys were waiting downstairs for them. Graduation was in an hour so Santana was trying hard to remember how to speak in front of a crowd.

“San, I found the necklace Alejandro got you.” Naya says handing Santana her lucky necklace.

“Thank you.” Santana whispers putting it on.

“I can’t believe we graduate today.” Hannah says.

“Neither can I.” Naya replies.

Taking a deep breath Santana walks to the door to her room. “Time to go.”

All of the girls nod and walk down the stairs. When they get down the stairs they notice most of the boys look like they are about to die from lack of oxygen.

“BREATHE!” Brittany yells hitting Mike causing everyone to laugh.

“Owwww!” Mike says grabbing the back of his head.

“Let’s go boys.” Brittany says before walking out the door.

When they get to the school Santana is shaking in the limo Maria and Jack had rented for her and her friends. Getting out of the limo they all walk into the school. As all of the families are getting seated the graduates are walking onto the stage and taking seats all but Santana who stands at the podium.

“Now I would like to present Santana Jones our valedictorian for the graduates of 2012.” Principal James says before taking a seat.

“Hello, most of you know me as the girl who got shot or as the girl who lost her family. But what you don’t know is that when I was younger m parents and older brother were killed by a drunk driver. The day of the shooting I thought I was going to die also. But today I am standing in front of you as the girl who lost a friend in that shooting. Let’s not be the statistic like most school shooting victims. Let’s be the school who moves on and knows that no matter what we made it alive. Today we are graduating being set out into the world. We are finally getting our wings to fly out of the nest and into the real world. But most of all today we are a family of adults who will make it in the real world just like we did in that shooting. Thank you.” Santana says before going to sit down.

“Now it is time to read you your graduates.” Principal James says.

After they get to through the group’s name the graduates throw their caps into the air. Santana and the rest of her friends all wish a farewell to Samantha as she drives off to the airport.

“I hope everything goes well.” Santana says.

“It will.” Dale replies.

“Can we talk?” Santana asks looking at Dale.

“Yea sure.” Dale replies.

Santana and Dale walk into the kitchen at the Jones’ house.

“I’m still in love with you.” Santana whispers.

“I’m still in love with you too.” Dale whispers back pulling Santana into a passionate kiss.

When they pull back they hear Naya’s laughter. Walking back into the living room they see Noah spinning Naya around.

“What did we miss?” Santana asks with a smile on her face.

“Noah just proposed to Naya and she said yes.” Olivia replies.

“Oh my god!” Santana runs and hugs both Noah and Naya at the same time.

Four hours later

The group is sitting in the living room watching a movie when the news cuts through. At first they are talking about a car wreck where four people were injured and one person died. Then they went on about the weather. Pretty soon they got breaking news that would change the group of friend’s lives forever.

“Now on to breaking news. A plane crashed leaving no survivors all casualties. On this plane was eighteen year old Samantha Rodriguez. A victim of the school shooting at Southside High School. I’m Oscar Mchathens and this is Southside news.” The news reporter says.

The whole group just sits there in tears before Victoria speaks up.

“Well at least we know true love really does last forever.” Victoria says.

“No it doesn’t.” Nathaniel says.

Victoria hits him in the back of the head and he changes what he had said before running out of the room.

“What are we going to do? We have lost two friends in the course of a month.” Naya asks.

“We are going to hold our heads up high and show the world that even though two of our friends are gone we can make it through whatever it throws at us.” Noah replies.

“So this really is the beginning of the end.” Santana says.

“I guess it is.” Naya replies smiling at her twin.

Together the group of friends went to the funeral and said their goodbyes. Before they said their goodbyes to each other and headed off to college.

The End.
