7. chapter six accents and birthdays

Three weeks later and everyone is at Santana’s and Naya’s house for their eighteenth birthday party. Santana was laying on her bed looking at a picture of her old family, when Naya walked in.

“Come on Tana time to cut the cake.” Naya says as she walks over to her sister.

“Naya, sometimes I wish Mom, Dad, and Aljandro were here for our birthdays.” Santana whispers in a weak voice.

“Me too Tana. I wish they were here every day.” Naya replies pulling Santana into a hug.

“Girls time for cake come on!” Their adoptive mom Maria shouts up the stairs.

“Coming mom!” Naya yells back down the stairs to her adoptive mom.

“I don’t know how you can call Jack and Maria, mom and dad.” Santana mumbles her eyes downcast.

“Because, they were friends of mom and dad. We can trust them San.” Naya replies taking Santana’s hand and pulling her up.

“Now let’s go eat us some cake.” She finishes.

Santana smiles, it’s not a big smile but it’s a smile.

“Okay.” Santana replies.

When they get downstairs they hear everyone laughing and joking around.

“Britt, come on who was your first kiss?” Mike asks looking at his girlfriend.

Brittany is holding her head in her hands as if she was in pain.

“I can’t take the pressure! My first kiss was Gale Stone.” Brittany practically shouts.

“Calm down Britt’s.” Santana says as she walks into the room.

Maria looks up with an unreadable expression on her face.

“Santana, why is it you never talk to me or Jack.” Maria questions the fiery Latina who just ignores her and walks to the couch and sits next to Brittany.

“Tana- “Maria gets interrupted by Santana.

“Don’t call me that only my friends and Naya can call me that.” Santana growls out looking at her adoptive mother.

Naya sends Maria an apologetic smile before taking a seat next to Santana on the couch.

“Tana, what’s wrong?” Mike asks looking at the Latina who is now crying into her hands.

“I just want my real family back.” She mumbles through her tears.

Brittany pulls Santana into a long and much needed hug.

“San, if they could I bet they would be here, but they are dead and we have to be positive.” Naya says wrapping an arm around Santana.

“I know and it’s my entire fault. If I hadn’t of stayed back for soccer tryouts they would still be here.” Santana replies with a blank look on her face.

“Santana it wasn’t your fault so now let’s just drop it and eat our cake.” Naya tells her twin who is older by three minutes.

Santana just nods and curls up to her blonde best friend. Maria cuts up the vanilla ice cream cake and gives everyone a slice before her and Jack retreat to the kitchen.

“San, why don’t you like Jack or Maria?” Victoria asks looking at one of her best friends.

“Because, they are trying to replace my parents.” Is all Victoria gets in reply before Santana closes her eyes and leans into Brittany’s side a little more.

“Guys I think we should just leave her alone.” Olivia states what most of the group was thinking.

Everyone but Brittany (who was staring at the kitten) nods.

“I think I’m going to go up to my room.” Santana says after about ten minutes.

“Okay San.” Everyone replies in unison.

Santana walks upstairs to her room and lays on her bed closing her eyes before falling asleep.

“Why is she so closed off around your and her birthday?” Hannah asks looking at Naya.

“Because, our parents used to take us to the movies every birthday before they were in that accident.” Naya replies moving to sit on Noah’s lap.

“Noah, why do you look like you’re going to murder someone?” Samantha asks looking at the Jewish boy.

“Because, I’m going to murder that idiot of a drunk driver for killing Naya and Santana’s parents and brother.” Noah replies with a mad look on his face.

“Noah, just don’t” Is his reply from the whole group.

“Why not?” Noah asks.

“Because, San and I need you to stay out of jail.” Naya replies kissing his cheek.

“I know but I’m just so mad that someone can get drunk enough and kill your family.” Noah replies.

“We all are.” Mike says.

“Britt, please put Mist down.” Naya asks when she notices the tall blonde holding Mist in the air.

Putting Mist down Brittany replies, “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine hun just don’t hold Mist over your head.” Naya says.

“So what did you guys think of the party?” Noah asks randomly.

“It was great.” Everyone replies.

“Do we have to go to school tomorrow?” Brittany asks.

“Yes we do B.” Samantha replies.

“Dang it!” Brittany says in a British voice.

“Really Britt?” Naya asks.

“What I hate school.” Brittany replies.

Santana had just woken up when she heard Brittany yell in a British accent. Getting up Santana heads back downstairs.

“You know some people are trying to sleep.” Santana says.

“Sorry completely forgot that you went upstairs.” Mike replies.

“What is everyone talking about?” Santana asks.

“Trying to tell Britt we have school tomorrow Lucas replies with a grin.

“So.” Santana says laying across Brittany and Mike.

“We have school.” Is all she gets in reply.
