25. .

Blade, the little dappled grey pony, and i ran as fast as we all three could away from the slaughter house, praying that the cops wouldn't show up in time to catch us running away.

And we ran, hard. Just in case they did see us.

We ran through the open corn fields, through the dense woods, and made a cut-through to my house.

And as we ran, i rethought that beautiful phrase again.

Nothing could get between me, Blade or the wind. I am always free. Nothing matters anymore. Just worry about yourself. Don't worry about Cassie, or homework, or friends, or even school period. Blade is your only friend. He's the only one who trusts you. He is your best friend. He will never hurt you on purpose, or hurt you emotionally, or hurt you period, he believes in you...

...and I believe in you Blade, I really do...

"Stephanie my dear Lord, Stephanie! Is it really you?!" my grandma yelled down the barn isle.

How in the hec did she even know I was here?

"Oh Stephanie..." Grandma yelled "You've had me worried sick! We've been searching for almost two days now!" She fast-walked down the barn isle to me, who was outside of Blade's stall holding his grooming brush. I was in the middle of going to put his brush back in the tack stall when she threw open the barn door and made a big hissy fit about me.

Grandma ran up to me and squeezed me tight and i squeezed her back.

"Oh Grandma, you don't even know the half of what I've been through...but i'd like to start out by saying sorry for taking off like that." i said into her shoulder

"Oh sweetie, it's ok. Just don't do it again!" She laughed and i laughed with her.

I let go of her and she let go of me.

"There's somebody that's been even more worried than me though, Steph. And i think that it's time you talk to them and catch them up with this whole misshappening."

She half-smiled and i looked at her mysteriously, wondering who it might be.

It was only then when two very important people made a heart warming appearance at the front of the barn.

I dropped the brush I was holding and solid tears weighed down my eyes.

"Mom, Dad?! But how!" i screamed as i took off at a sprint and jumped into their arms.

They both chuckled and hugged me back. Then we all just...cried. Not at how sad our spring break had been, but at all the relief pouring out of our hearts.

"Hey! You forgot about me!" a little, cute voice piped up from outside of our circle.

"Oh Josie..." i sniffed "I love you so much!" i said, getting a little choked up.

I bent down and scooped Josie up in my arms.

   "I love you too, Stephie..."

I told my parents everything, from the beginning of my journey, from when I first heard that a ship had wrecked, to me running away and finding that Blade was gone, to the slaughter house, and all the way to when we ran back home.

My parents were more speechless than mad. They couldn't believe that a 13 year old girl had the nerve to shoot a guy, and run from it. They couldn't believe that their 13 year old girl could do that. They were almost kind of...proud.

They told me that they would clear everything up with the police. The only thing they said I might have to do was have an interview with the police, to tell them my side of the story and how Steve had stolen my horse. My parents assured me that I wouldn't get in trouble...but the thing is, I was afraid I might, considering I had released all of those horse out into the wild...oh well, I can just blame it on Steve. Hopefully.

So for how my parents had escaped the shipwreck, turns out they didn't. Actually, turns out that wasn't even their cruise ship to begin with. They had been on the S.S Seahorse and the reason they had not returned any calls was because Dad lost his cell phone on the way back.

Either way it was a happy ending for all of us...well maybe not Steve...

The End...
