15. .

We only have another day left at Grandma's house now, and I'm so excited to see Mom and Dad. They haven't called within the past 3 days, but I wasn't going to call them because I figured they were having a nice time.

I walked into Grandma's living room. It was small, just like ours, but it had a more comfy feeling to it. Her whole house, except for the kitchen, was covered with the same, brown plushy carpet. This room was a tannish-cream color, and had a brown, leathered couch with the TV across from it.

I plumped myself down on the couch and turned on the TV with the remote. The first thing that popped up was the news, as always. Grandma always had the news on.

I was about to change the channel when something caught my attention. There were pictures all over the screen with images of a crashed cruise ship. My heart sank. I don't remember witch cruise ship Mom and Dad had been on, but I hoped it wasn't this one.

"The S.S. Seagull just crashed this morning at about 9:30 a.m. Although most of the passengers were able to get out safely, some had been trapped in the bow part of the ship, drowning them." the news woman said.

"The cruise ship was headed back from Jamaica." She continued

Mom and Dad went to Jamaica. They were coming back today, and staying in a hotel until tomorrow.

    "No!" I screamed

I threw the remote at the wall. It shattered, and created a dent in the peaceful colored paint.

    I began to cry.

"Why is this happening?" I screamed out loud

Grandma came running into the room.

"What is the matter, Stephanie?!" She asked me in a rushed voice.

I pointed to the TV, too traumatized to talk.

    She gasped.

"Stephanie, we can't make any conclusions until we've gathered our facts. I'm sure your parents have made it out safely." She assured me.

Although I wasn't too assured. She said that in a choked voice, like she was about to cry.

She grabbed me up and hugged me tightly.

"It's ok dear, but don't go getting any ideas until we know for sure."

I sobbed, harder, and harder. Until it got to the point where I couldn't quite breath.

"There, there." Grandma crooned, "I'm sure your parents are fine. Let me go start you a nice, warm bubble bath. I know it's a scary moment right now, but we just have to wait and see before we begin to break down emotionally."

    "Wha-what about Blu-Blade." I asked

"I'll try to get ahold of your neighbor in the phone book. I'm sure he'd be willing to take care of him for a couple more days until we can get ahold of your parents."

   "O-ok." I said through a choked voice.

She lifted me up to where I could stand, and helped me to the bathtub.

I lied in the warm bath water, hoping my parents weren't dead.
