An Unexpected Love

Jennifer Lancer thought her life was perfect, with the best friends, rich parents, and the captain of the dance and cheerleading teams. But little did she know that was all about to change when mysterious Zayn Malik transferred to her school in America; he helps her get out of her popular funk when everyone starts rumors about her. Zayn will show Jenny what it's like to love and be loved./// Zayn Malik has had a pretty tough life. He had been to jail twice and missed two years of high school. He had gotten expelled from his old school, then he went to a school in California Appleton High and met annoying, yet unbearably loveable Jennifer Lancer. She shows him how to let go of his past and give up on thinking he'll do it again.

8. Zayn

When Jennifer left, I wasn't mad. I was surprised. I couldn't believe she had kissed me, and on the day that she had met me. Not that I didn't like it, because I did. But, I just didn't think she liked me. I called after her and tried to follow her, but I slammed into something short and skinny.

I moaned when I saw who it was, "Oh my god," I said smiling.

Devyn walked up to me and said, "What did I tell you?" And he poked me in the chest. I looked at his hand and got a satisfied feeling seeing that it was wrapped in gauze.

"How's your wrist, Dev?" I asked, ignoring his question. He shook his head and punched me in the face with his left hand. I laughed, and hard. I'm not even joking, I barely felt a thing.

"How's your face?" he asked as I doubled over cracking up. He must have thought I was crying. I stood taller and smiled, pummeling my fist into his jaw bone, and his mouth formed the shape of an O as we heard a large crack.

"How's YOU'RE face?" I asked, grinning and walking around him, trying to catch up with Jennifer. I jogged and saw her sitting with her back up against the wall and her knees tucked into her face in the stairwell.

Oh no. Zayn, don't go over there. You don't like her, you never will, she hates you and she always will. A small voice in my head told me. I shook it, I'm going crazy. I thought- I hear voices. But I ignored them and walked in front of her, grabbing one of her hands that wrapped around her leg. She looked up and narrowed her eyes, she stood and said, "I don't want to talk to-" but I cut her off by pressing my mouth on hers, not understanding why.

My eyes were closed, but I could tell hers were open. I was about half a foot taller than her, so picked her up and put her back down on a stair, so we were closer to the same height, and it was then I felt her close her eyelids. She wrapped her arms around my neck and twined her fingers in my hair. I put my hands on her waist and pulled back, slowly, opening my eyes. Hers shot open and I grinned.

She swallowed and plopped back down on the step through my arms. I dropped them and sat next to her, "Hey." I said softly, taking her hand in mine. She pulled it back but I held it harder. I said, "Jennifer, there's nothing wrong with this..." I trailed off.

Her jaw dropped and she shot up off the stair, dropping my hand. She said, "There is EVERYTHING wrong with it, Zayn! I just met you today, and I am already kissing you in the staircase! Do you know what you are?"

I chuckled and said, "Human?"

She pointed at me and poked me in the chest, "Obviously not! Because if you were human, you would have gotten to know me before you went and made out with me!"

I was offended; she kissed me first! "Okay, Jenny. Try and remember," I felt my own eyes narrow, "what happened less than five minutes ago, in that back room? You kissed me!" I grabbed her bicep.

She shook her head, "And it was the worst mistake of my life!" and she jerked her arm out of my grip, running up the stairs.
