An Unexpected Love

Jennifer Lancer thought her life was perfect, with the best friends, rich parents, and the captain of the dance and cheerleading teams. But little did she know that was all about to change when mysterious Zayn Malik transferred to her school in America; he helps her get out of her popular funk when everyone starts rumors about her. Zayn will show Jenny what it's like to love and be loved./// Zayn Malik has had a pretty tough life. He had been to jail twice and missed two years of high school. He had gotten expelled from his old school, then he went to a school in California Appleton High and met annoying, yet unbearably loveable Jennifer Lancer. She shows him how to let go of his past and give up on thinking he'll do it again.

6. Zayn

As I walked out of the locker room wearing baggy mesh shorts and an oversized gray T-shirt that said "AHSPE Appleton High School Physical Education" a bawling Angela ran past me with her sparkly heels in her right hand. I started after her and yelled, "Ange!" she stopped and turned around, relief flooding her eyes. I went up to her and said, "Are you alright?"

She slammed into me and I took a small step back. She buried her face in my chest and I wrapped my arms around her middle. "She... said," I couldn't hear what she said after that because it was so muffled, "BUT I DIDN'T BELIEVE HER!!!" then she started sobbing harder and I stroked her hair, trying to think of what to do.

"Angie. Ange, calm down okay??" I told her. I felt her nod. "You're already like my sister right? I  haven't known you very long and you have already made me feel welcome, so I think I have an idea." I was winging it. I had no idea what to do. So I gently pulled her off of me and took her hand, "Follow me."

So she wiped her tears with the arm of her 'shoe hand' and followed, "Where are we going?" she asked.

"You'll see, sis." I replied, taking her up the stairs of the building, past the doors to the gymnasium. We walked up both flights and into a small theatre at the top.

"What are we doing in the little theatre?" she asked sniffing and flopping down in a seat. I had no idea this was up here so I opened my mouth to improvise an answer and she cut me off, "You had no idea where you were taking me, did you?" she asked.

I gave her my best guilty grin and she slapped my arm. "Yeah, you, my dear, are correct." I said.

She sighed, "Well then we better both get back, bro." she giggled and linked her arm through mine. I led her back through the stairs, being silly so she would smile. Which she did.

I didn't lie. She was just like a little sister to me. "So, what are you doing? Are you playing a chick's version of football in that room?" I asked.

She shook her head and smirked, "I don't need to do PE. I get to dance instead. I'm on the dance and cheerleading teams, so we don't do it. Jen is the captain and she calls me her assistant, but really, I'm co-captain." she smiled cheekily. She gave me a quick hug.

"You sure you'll be alright?" I asked, concerned.

She smiled and nodded, "I'll be good. Thank you for cheering me up."

I shook my head and returned her grin, "It's what," I lowered my voice, "big," and took it back to it's normal volume, "brothers do."

"Well then thanks brother." she booty bumped me again and I just chuckled at her cuteness. She turned and ran back to the stairs she had bolted down just minutes before. I sighed and walked into the gym with a crowd of guys who had taken 15 minutes to change and bathe themselves in cologne.
