An Unexpected Love

Jennifer Lancer thought her life was perfect, with the best friends, rich parents, and the captain of the dance and cheerleading teams. But little did she know that was all about to change when mysterious Zayn Malik transferred to her school in America; he helps her get out of her popular funk when everyone starts rumors about her. Zayn will show Jenny what it's like to love and be loved./// Zayn Malik has had a pretty tough life. He had been to jail twice and missed two years of high school. He had gotten expelled from his old school, then he went to a school in California Appleton High and met annoying, yet unbearably loveable Jennifer Lancer. She shows him how to let go of his past and give up on thinking he'll do it again.

2. Zayn

I walked into the doors behind two girls-one short one and a taller one, even though they were both wearing heels, the short one with purple pants and the other one with a short skirt- with linked arms and I sighed. This school must be teeming with BFFs and groups of jocks and emos. I looked around for Brad and pulled out my phone to text him "Dude, where are you?" he replied almost instantly and my phone buzzed in my hand. "Gemma and I are right inside the doors."

I groaned; I hated Gemma. she thought she was better than everyone else and she treated them like crap. One of the girls in front of me glanced back at me, the one in the skirt, probably wondering why I was just groaning for no reason like some creeper. I shot her a sarcastic smile and brushed past them, right where I spotted Gemma leaning her back against the wall and Brad leaning over her with his arm on the wall above her.

"Hey, my man!" Brad said once he saw me. We clasped hands and smacked our shoulders together. "How do you like it here so far?" he asked.

"I wouldn't really know, but the hallway is nice." I chuckled and sneered at Gemma. "Gemma." I nodded my head at her.

"Zayn." she said scanning me. I suppressed a shudder- what a freak, who does that? Then I heard a gasp behind me followed by hushed whispering.

I looked behind me and saw the small girl smile and wave at me sweetly. I winked at her and the other one snapped her gum and crossed her arms, giving me the up-down. I turned back to my cousin, "Who are they?" I asked curiously.

"Oh, you might want to stay away from them. That's-" Gemma cut him off.

She shot a look at him, "That's Angie and Jen! Ange! Jenny! Come here and meet Zayn!!" she smirked at me snidely.

I smiled, "Thanks Gem! You're too kind," she narrowed her eyes and I snorted. She hated being called Gem because it makes her feel like she is "five". As if a mother would let her five year old out of the house wearing that.

The bubbly girl skipped over to us with her arm still linked with the skirt girl, who walked. She quickly unlinked her arm and stuck out her hand to me, "Hi! I'm Angela! But you can call me Angie or Ange if you want! I'm so happy to meet you! Brad will finally shut up, I've heard so much about you, don't worry it's all good stuff! I'm just really excited to have another guy here!" She gasped and covered her mouth, blushing. "I mean a new student here..." She looked down and trailed off.

I smiled and said, "It's cool. And it's nice to meet you, too." I looked at the other girl, who studied her nails intently.

Angie smacked her on the arm and hissed, "Be polite."

She sighed and said, "I'm Jennifer, call me Jen or Jenny. It's nice to meet you and I hope you don't groan at random points all the time." She said in a bored tone.

Angie elbowed her in the side and apologized, "I'm so sorry for Crabby McRude over here, she must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. I'll see you around, and if you need anything don't be afraid to ask." She waved at me and pulled Jennifer away, probably scolding her. I grinned.

"That was interesting." I said, cocking my head to the side. Brad stuck out his fist and I pounding it with mine, "See you later, man." and I walked down the hall, heading to my first period class before the bell rang. I had memorized the map of the school and my schedule so I didn't look like a nerd on my first day. I saw Jen and Angie walking into Room 113, right where I was headed. Crap.

I moaned inwardly so Jen couldn't make a snide comment. The girls sat at different tables, Angie sat by a guy with short brown hair and a face full of freckles. Jenny sat in a table by herself in the middle of the room and I tried to brush past the teacher, to get to an empty table in the back, but she stopped me by saying, "You must be our new student! Zayn, right?" I sighed.

"That's me." and I smiled, "Where should I sit?" I said, hoping she didn't say by Jen.

She smiled and her big glasses fell low on her nose, she pointed to a place in the middle of the room, "You can sit by Jennifer Lancer over there."

I let out a breath. "Awesome," I said as I walked towards my table and swung my backpack on my chair and scooted farther away from Jen without being rude.

The teacher clapped her hands to bring down the roar of voices, "Okay class, today you are going to be working with your table partners on a two week long project on ancient Greece." I swear I thought I heard Jennifer and I sigh at the same time when she said it. At least we could agree on something.
