Simon Cowell Adopts Me

Taylor was left at the orphanage as a baby and never expects to be adopted, but when Simon Cowell, - aka Uncle Simon - the producer of her favourite band One direction, comes to the orphanage, she doubts that she will get adopted. She was in for a big surprise.

21. It's Time. Am I Ready?

Waiting backstage was the most nerve racking thing that I've ever felt. You just sit there and wait while the host introduces the show. This is so nerve racking, how do stars do it?

Finally they called the break and the hostess, came off the stage. She walked over to me where I was with Zoey and Zayn and my dad.

"Mr. Cowell, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Thank you, and you as well."

"And you must me Ms. Cowell, am I correct?" She asked me.

"Yes. Call me Taylor."

"Sure thing, and who did you bring with you? Of course, I recognize one."

"Uh, this is my friend Zoey, she's my bestest friend ever, and yes, this is Zayn Malik, he and the boys have been staying with my father and me and Zayn are quite close friends though they've only been there for not that long, but I needed the support."

"Oh, well all is welcome." She shook everyone's hand and then turned her attention back to me. "So, Simon says that you're a good singer. Can we hear a sample?"

"Uh, sure." I thought for a minute about what to sing. Then I decided on I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables. "But the tigers come at night, voices soft as thunder, as they tear your hope apart, as they turn your dream to shame." I sang, exactly as they would have in the musical. They all stared at me and I suddenly felt very awkward.

"Wow, Taylor, I didn't know you were that good." Zayn told me and I blushed a bit.

"Yes, he's right, you are very good, we'll let you sing. Now, c'mon, we're about to go back on." She led me out onto the stage where I took a seat in the chair and sipped my tea that was in the mug.

Not a second after we'd sat down the camera man called out, "And we're live in 5, 4, 3," He started counting out the numbers on his fingers, 2, 1, and he pointed to us. We were live.

"Welcome back. Now we're here with the lovely Taylor Cowell. Newly adopted daughter of producer Simon Cowell." She turned and smiled at me. "So, Taylor, what's it like, being Simon's daughter?"

"Well, it's not just life living in a gigantic mansion with servers and chefs to do all your work for you. Some times, I know he won't always be there to tell me he has to leave on business. He has to just... Leave." I told her. "Sure, it worries me, but I'll always have people I can count on, people who don't care that I'm rich. I know what it's like not to have a family, and no money. I was there once not that long ago."

"I see, now do you think you'll get to meet a lot of stars because of your dad's fame?"

"Possibly. I mean, it's up to me whether I let the pressures of society tell me that, that is all that matters. Meeting all the celebrities because I can now."

"But you will meet some, as I know you've met One Direction."

"Of course, I can't stop who comes and goes through my house."

"Right, and continuing on that note, how are the boys? How do they get along with you?"

"Oh, they're great. Always joking, always playing. We're good friends, they aren't afraid to be straight with me."

"And so, since they're always straight with you, have any of them expressed interest in you?"

"Not that I've picked up on. I think that'd be the one thing, they are afraid to tell me. Plus, I'm not allowed to date my father's clients. His rule."

"Would you be willing to break that rule?"

"I don't know. I respect my dad, but they'd have to be pretty convincing to get me to."

"How convincing do you think?"

"Very. It'd take a lot." I glanced at Zayn for a split second before turning my attention back to the interviewer.

"Now, we've heard you can sing? Why don't you sing for us?"

"Without a mic or music?"

"Of course not. We've got a stage right over there." She pointed to the stage and I nodded and got up and walked over to it. I told the dj what music to play and he nodded and I walked back over to the mic.

I heard the familiar beat start and I was in my zone. I took a deep breath as the first note came up.

"You're insecure, don't know what for.
You're turning heads when you walk threw the door.
Don't need makeup
To cover up
Being the way that you are is enough

Everyone else in the room can see it
Everyone else but you

Baby you light up my world like no body else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell
You don't know
Oh, oh
You don't know you beautiful
Oh, oh
And that's what makes you beautiful

So c-come on
You got it wrong
To prove I'm right, I put it in a song
I don't why
And turn away when I look in your eye-eye-eyes

Everyone else in the room can see it
Everyone else but you

Baby you light up my world like no body else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell
You don't know
Oh, oh
You don't know you beautiful
Oh, oh
And that's what makes you beautiful

That's what makes you beautiful

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na

Baby you light up my world like no body else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell

You don't know
Oh, oh
You don't know you're beautiful

Baby you light up my world like no body else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell
You don't know
Oh, oh
You don't know you beautiful
Oh, oh
You don't know you beautiful

That's what makes you beautiful"

The crowd erupted into applause and I couldn't help but smile at the crowd. And at Zayn.
