6. Heartbroken

Jessica's POV.

Later that evening, my parents were coming over for dinner. After coming home from the hotel, I had avoided Harry all day and spent more time with Niall. I never knew that Niall could be a funny guy. I just loved being around him. My parents finally arrived and we were all sitting in the living room.

"I'm going to help mom in the kitchen." Angela said, standing up and walked out of the room. "I'm coming with you." I said, standing up and followed her to the kitchen. Our mom was busy cooking which left the two of us to set up the table. "I like that Niall boy." My mom smiled as she began putting the food on the table.

Angela and I were almost done setting up the table. "Yeah, I like him too mom." Angela added and then looked at me, smirking. "He's only a friend." I said.

"Seems like you two are more than friends." My mom said. We were done setting the table and my mom called everybody into the dining room for dinner. "Smells great." Niall smiled.

"Thank you Niall." My mom smiled.

My mom always wanted someone who appreciated her cooking besides her two daughters and husband. We were all seated and there was an empty space beside Harry. "Aren't you going to sit honey?" My mom asked. I just looked at her and said, "I'm going to get a glass of water."

I walked into the kitchen and grabbed myself a glass. When I walked back out, Angela was the one sitting next to Harry which left the space between Niall and Louis open. "You can sit in my seat sis." Angela smiled. I walked over to her seat and sat down.

"We heard that you guys are leaving tomorrow." My mom said.

"We wish to stay longer." Louis said, looking at my mom and quickly glanced at Angela. Zayn also looked in the direction of my sister as I kept my head down while eating my food. "Jess, is there anything you'd like to add?" My dad asked.

I looked up at my dad and shook my head. "No, nothing." I said and continued to eat. When I felt full, I excused myself from the table and put my plate into the sink. I walked out of the kitchen and quickly went to my room. I closed the door behind me and went out onto the balcony.

Of course there was something for me to add, but if they stayed longer, that meant I'd see Harry longer. I didn't want to see Harry. My friendship with him was done. I was tired of him and his personality. His... his bad boy image. I hated the idea that he flirted with a lot of girls and dated girls for publicity.

Why can't he be like Niall, or Liam, or Zayn? They're all nice guys and even Louis a nice guy too. I'm not saying that Harry's not a nice guy, it's his actions that need to change. I looked up at the moon in the sky and all the stars.

"Hey short-stuff." Harry walked up behind me. I was on my balcony when he came up beside me, leaning against the railing like I did. "Hey." I said as I glanced at him, then looked up at the sky. "Why are you out here?" he asked. I shrugged and told him that I was just looking up at the stars.

"Do you know that whenever I look at the moon... I'm always thinking of you?" He looked at me as I looked at him. "Really?" I asked him. He smiled, "Of course. You never really left my mind Jess."

Tears came to my eyes and I fought to hold them back, but they instantly rolled down my cheeks. How could I be such an idiot? "Jess?" I heard a voice behind me and I turned around to see it was Niall. "Hey." I said, quickly wiping my tears away. "Are you okay?" he asked.

I nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine." My voice cracked as he reached out and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back, burying my face into his neck. "Stay with me." I whispered, then looked into his eyes. He nodded as I held him tighter and I felt him kiss the side of my head.

The next morning, I woke up and Niall was still asleep beside me. I stayed beside him and rested my head on his chest, listening to the sound of his heart beat. The sound of his heart beat calmed me. Being with Niall made me feel safe.

He stirred a bit as I looked up at him and his eyes met mine. I had almost forgotten how blue they were. "Morning princess." I smiled up at him, giggling a bit. "It makes me happy that you're smiling." he smiled.

"You're the reason I smile." I told him, sitting up. "Sorry if that sounded cheesy." He sat up next to me and took my hands, holding them in his. Somehow it felt right, but my heart had all ready been broken. Was it possible for me to fall in love with Niall? I mean, after all, he is one of Harry's best friends.

"It's not a big deal." he smiled.

"I wish you could stay longer." I said, looking down at our hands.

"I don't have to leave yet." he said. I looked up at him and he nodded. I guessed that he read the expression on my face. I got off the bed and took his hand. "C'mon, let's eat. I'm starving." I smiled as the two of us headed out of the room and down the stairs.

We entered the dining room where everyone else was gathered. Angela was gone again and I was left with the guys. "Where's Harry?" Niall asked as we sat down at the table. "He and Angela went somewhere. They didn't say where." Louis said.

Harry's POV.

"She's heartbroken Harry. Don't you think she needs a little time to herself?" Angela asked me. She and I were eating at a small café. I knew that she was right. The two sisters always looked out for each other. When one of them was down, the other would help cheer them back up again.

"I guess you're right." I said with a sigh, looking down at my hands. Angela reached out and touched my arm as I looked up at her. She gave me a reassuring smile. "Everything will be okay Harry." she said.

"How do you know?" I asked her.

"Trust me. It will." she smiled.

Angela and Jessica walked with us into the airport before we were going to the terminal to board our plane. We were all waiting until it was time to go. I distanced myself from Niall as I watched him and Jessica have a laugh. Louis and Zayn were talking with Angela. "You going to be okay Harry?" Liam asked, sitting in a seat beside me.

I nodded, "Yeah. I'll be fine."

Finally it was time to board the plane and we all said good bye to the sisters. I knew that'd be the last time I'd see them again; that I'd see her again. But I still hoped that I'd see her again one day. The guys and I boarded the plane, then went on to resume our tour.

Jessica's POV.

We arrived home after the long silent car ride and I went upstairs to my room. I closed the door and got in bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I cried. I've never cride this much in such a long time. The pillow that lay beside me smelled like Harry. I reached over and touched the empty spot on the bed next to mine. It still felt like he was there lying beside me.

I wouldn't say that we broke up because we were never together in the first place. I had lost my best friend, and it was over some stupid question too. Later that evening, I ate dinner with my sister. "Liam called." she said as I nodded. I picked at my food on the plate. I wasn't really in the mood to eat at all.

"Jess, talk to me." she said.

"I don't want to talk about it." I said, picking up my plate and set it on the counter in the kitchen. I went back upstairs and locked myself in my room. I never wanted to come out. The next day all my friends at school were talking about prom on Saturday. They were asking each other who they were taking to prom, and then the question came to me.

"I'm not going to prom." I told my friends as I grabbed my stuff and walked out of the cafeteria. This my routine that past week. I'd go to school in the morning, go home when school ended, and lock myself up in my room until it was time to eat. I hadn't spoken to any of my friends since then.

I heard my sister's voice downstairs. She sounded like she was talking to someone. It was Friday night. "I don't know what to do. You're my last hope." I heard her say. I wondered who she was talking to. "Yeah, I'll talk to you again tomorrow. Thanks." I went downstairs the minute she hung up. "Who were you talking to?" I asked.

"Just a friend." She replied, then headed to her room. I waited until I heard the door close and saw that she left her phone on the counter. She can be careless sometimes. I picked up her phone and looked in the recent calls. The name was like a flashing neon sign. Harry Styles.
