Behind the Scenes of Victoriana

Ever wonder what goes into a manga? Well, for Victoriana, the process took me about 4 years. To really, truly BEGIN. So in case you're wondering, here's why it took so long...

5. The Early Stages (continued)

This is the second stage that the drawing process manga goes through. The first one, drafting, is just rough sketches with little circles depicting where I want figures, what shot goes where. This second one is the pencil lines. The third is inking, using tiny ink pens to make the lines permanent. The pencil is erased. Shade is added. The fourth is tones and words, usually done on photoshop for me since I can't buy screen tones (they're super expensive if you don't live in Japan).
