36. The Fifth Marauder

James's P.O.V

Remus was a werewolf now. I was a stag and Sirius was a dog, Wormtail was nowhere so I assumed he just turned to the mouse he is. Kyle, however, was just himself. And he was in danger. Remus was out of control. He started roaring and running. We all followed him, but the Hippogriff behind him distracted us all. Sirius started trying to defeat him, but he just got thrown away. It was my turn to try now but I couldn't; Remus got in my way. He tried to bite it - or at least that's what I thought he was doing, but the Hippogriff was being the stiff creature it is. Such a powerful creature. Even Remus almost got thrown away. I had no chance to live if I fought with a Hippogriff, but did Remus? I couldn't make him defeat him, he was supposed to be safe.

It was all my mistake. I was the one who told them to go to the centaurs which got us this deep in the forest. And also I was the one who told them to go here from the first place. But it wasn't  time for regret now. It was the time of act. But the thing is, I didn't know how to act! If only we reminded Remus to take the potion at least. I'm kind of glad we weren't attacked by the Thestral, I would't know how to act when attacked by something I couldn't see. But we also had the Hippogriff attacking us, and if I don’t help Remus with it soon, he'd probably eat him alive or something.

So I tried to defeat, but I was almost powerless to him. He was so huge and I wasn't certain what to do. Then Kyle ran for it, got thrown away but tried again. The Hippogriff roared such a loud roar that could damage your ears. Kyle went to its beak next and then he pulled its feathers so hard that the Hippogriff used its claw to defeat itself from Kyle while roaring. But Kyle, who was now bleeding, didn't stop. I tried to go and help him but could not. Sirius wet to the Hippogriff's tail and bit it. The Hippogriff roared again, but this time Kyle was still holding its beak but managed somehow to ride it.

Kyle's P.O.V

I don't know how I knew how to act. I just did, maybe it was the adrenaline and maybe it was courage. But either way I managed to help my friends and save them from this horrifying creature. The Hippogriff. While fighting it I knew I had to know it's foible and I couldn't make sure what it was. I tried closing its beak and it helped. I tried punching it's front leg but then it slapped me with its deadly claw. It hurt my face and my shoulder very bad, I had blood on my face and shoulder. But hurting me got me even angrier and with the help of Sirius's bite, I managed to pull its feathers and punch it so hard that I finally found it helpless and pulled myself up on it.

It tried to knock me off of it at first. But it failed and finally decided to give up and bent with its eagle's head on the ground. Remus was uncontrollable now and I was afraid he'd attack the Hippogriff again and what would that lead us to? I had no other option. I had to make it fly. Away from them all.

"Can you take Moony all the way to the Shrieking Shack?" I asked. Sirius barked at me in a way that gave me a yes. So I decided to leave it to them now. Dragging the Hippogriff's head feathers without actually taking them off, I managed to lead it upwards. And flying I was.

It was really scary, the creature was so fast that I almost lost my balance. I tightened my thighs around its body and it objectively obeyed my guidance. It wasn't the same scary-to-death Hippogriff I found in the Forbidden Forest, it was now more like my pet-flying-horse-with-an-eagle-head, weird it all was, but it was so very nice and so fun!

It was the first adventure I had in the wizarding world alone, but it was a spectacular experience. The air was blowing through my face and my body and it made the creature's feathers wave in a very beautiful way. Our speed was unbelievable, but somehow I felt secured, and I trusted this creature with my life. I patted it to make it feel like I was its owner and it kind of worked.

It flew and flew, I wasn't sure where exactly to lead it, but I really had to. I knew nowhere, and it kind of got me panicked for a while. But the huge castle wasn't hard to find - not that I'd go to the castle's doors and just park my bird there! There were still the towers, but from them I had to pass the doors and the passageways. I had to make lots of thinking, so I decided to let the Hippogriff give me a ride around this place and enjoy it for a bit. It was so awesome, through the lake and then the forest we went, but eventually the Hippogriff went back to where it belonged, it was going to the Forbidden Forest, but I managed to let it take me to the Whooping Willow. Partly sure and partly hoping that I would find the boys there.

Sirius's P.O.V

Dragging Remus out of the forest was even harder than dragging him in. What Kyle did was absolutely tremendous! He really saved our lives and got things easier for us to handle, at least we now didn't have a Hippogriff trying to fight with the Werewolf we had with us.

After the hard work we managed to get Remus out of the forest, it did take us a long time since we also were so deep in it and could hardly tell the way out. But at last we did and then we went to the Shreking Shack with Remus the wolf and Wormtail the mouse.

We finally were there, and after about fifteen minutes we heard a faint of a roar, and then Kyle joined us. I immediately took him in a bro hug and so did James.

"How was the ride?" I asked him. Remus was still for a bit.

"Absolutely tremendous!" Said Kyle with so much enthusiasm. "The speed, the lake with the reflection of the moon, the wind - ahh it was all so awesome!" He said.

"Kyle, what you did was extremely courageous and we figured out what your nickname would be -"

Kyle looked at me with a grin and waited for me to continue. I looked at James and we said it in union.

"Lionheart." Then James said, "Because you're tough as a lion-"

"And you're heart's as brave as a lion’s." I continued.

"Lionheart.” Kyle said grinning.  “I think I really like the name."
