57. Ollivander's

Ruby's P.O.V

We wanted to go now to Ollivander's, a wands shop. The boys said that the wands there choose the wizards, it will not happen to us since we're muggles, we will choose the wands. I really didn't quite get it, how does a wand choose its wizard? It's kind of impossible right, but then again everything here is possible. Nothing's impossible.

We reached the shop. The banner said, Ollivander's - Making of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. Woah, 382 B.C?! Entering the shop was like having the same dream twice. I remember going to a wands shop with my mother once, just so that I can know more about the wizarding world, she never told me to pick a wand for myself, I wasn't allowed to, since I'm a squib. But I never saw someone getting chosen by their wand.

The shop was not normal-sized, boxes of wands filled it. There were some books there and a small lantern that filled the whole shop with its illuminating light. Mr. Ollivander himself was not there, I think.

James cleared his throat.

"Mr. Ollivander, are you in here?" He asked. And then someone came as if out of nowhere, which made me realize there was another door in the shop, probably led to another room.

"Hello, hello. Potter, Evans, Black, Patel, Rosier, Lupin, Bell, Whitby, Zeller." He said turning to each one of them. "and if I am not mistaken you're Abbot." He said when he turned to me.

"Yes." I said really shocked.

"Your parents did visit me a couple of times, and your relatives brought their wands from here." He said smiling.

"Oh." I said realizing. "Did they?" Mr. Ollivander  nodded, a small confident nod, and then turned to Ethan, Alex and Kyle.

"Hmm, I'm glad to say that my memory has never failed me, I'm grateful for that -should I call it- talent I've got. However, I have to admit, I don't remember seeing the three of you, or your parents before." Mr. Ollivander said. Alex smiled.

"That is, Mr. Ollivander, because we're muggles." She said the last word in a lower voice.

"Oh I see. The Hogwarts' guests! Welcome. In case you haven't known yet, this shop is for wands, many wizards buy their wands from here." He told her.

"But, Mr. Ollivander," I started. "Wands choose their wizards, does that mean that we have to choose our wands?"

"Indeed. Now since the wands will be useless to you four, I've put some of the weakest wands in here-" he said pointing at a pile of wands. "So, if you found anything you liked there, you can be free to buy it."

"Come one." I said to Alex, Ethan and Kyle. We went to the pile and started looking for a wand we liked. the wands were put in four groups; one said, mostly used by Slytherins. The other, mostly used by Gryffindors. And the third and forth, mostly used by Hufflepuffs and mostly used by Ravenclaws. Each one of us started started searching for wands mostly used by their houses. And I found the one I liked the most.

"Walnut, eleven inches, unicorn hair, bendy." Mr Olivander said watching me.

"I think it's the one." I said smiling. It was not carved, but was actually quite plain. And its color was coffee, dark brown. I loved it. But when I looked at Mr. Ollivander again, I saw a strange look on his face, he looked, absolutely shocked, and amazed. And he was looking at Alex.

"What's your name, my child?" He asked her.

"Umm, Alex Cross."

"Come here."

Alex's P.O.V

Okay, that's absolutely normal. What's wrong? Why does he want me? I began to panic for no reason at all. I took my steps carefully to him, and once I was really close to him, he bent to face me and whispered to me,

"Have - have you ever kissed a wizard?" He asked.

"Have I kissed a wizard?" I repeated automatically. OK, that was really weird, and awkward. "Yeah." I said really slowly, realizing I was probably blushing by now.

"Who was it?" He asked again.

"Umm, excuse me, I don't wanna be rude or something, but why are you asking me?"

"I assure you, young lady, that I'm not being nosy or anything, it's just that whoever you've kissed has given you some amount of his magic." I'm pretty sure I my face was more shocked than Mr. Ollivander's.

"What's it Alex?" Max asked.

"Sirius. Can you come here for a minute?" I said not even looking at him. When he reached my side I saw his face puzzled.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Mr Black have you ever kissed miss Cross?" Mr Ollivander asked him. Sirius looked taken aback.

"Yes." He said slowly.

"Well I have to tell you something that not many people know." He then turned around as if looking for something. "Let's see." Behind him Sirius asked me something soundlessly and I just raised my shoulders, shook my head and mouthed, "I don't know." Then Mr. Ollivander grabbed a book. "Yes, here it is!" He said opening a specific page. He cleared his throat. ""What Happens When a Wizard Kisses a Muggle?" He read. "When a true, true love kiss combines a male wizard and a female muggle, sometimes what happens is that; some of the magic shifts from him to her that she gets the ability to make some simple spells. Because love as we know is magic, and can sometime be more powerful. This case, however barely happens." And I think that's what happened to you. Did you feel strange when you kissed, like, electrified in a good way, or - magical?" He asked.

"Yes." to my surprise Sirius and I said in the same time. We looked at each other very fast, smiling. And I felt myself blush again.

"Our first kiss." He said taking a step closer.

"And when we first went to Diagon Alley, in the middle of the night." I said with enthusiasm. I looked into his eyes and he touched my chin with his palm, and we almost kissed, but Mr. Ollivander cleared his throat again.

"I'll just take the yes." He said laughing a bit.

"But Mr. Ollivander, how did you find out?" I asked turning to him, Sirius gave me his hand.

"I saw the way you held that wand, and I saw how it responded to you, but -" He paused. "I think you should get a stronger wand, because weak wands won't work with you all right. You will be able - to let the wand chose you." He said. I felt so amazing! A part of me was actually magical, all of the learning that I took this month wasn't for nothing, after all. I could do some simple spells. Well I hope Wingardium Leviosa is considered a simple one, I thought. Mr Ollivander Then started looking around and gave me a wand. "try this one."

"W- what should I do?" I said confused.

"Just, give it a flick." When I did the lantern broke into million pieces, that was not good. I immediately gave him the wand back. "Not strong enough." He said. He then went into the other room and appeared again with another wand in his hands. "Try this one." I took it and tried it, it felt heavy in my hands, and it didn't feel right. I flicked and as if there was a storm, everything started flying around me. "No, no, no - too strong." He said taking the wand from me. "Let's see-" At last he gave me a wand that was really beautiful that I really wanted it to work. It was carved in a beautiful way, it looked like a wand of an artist. It was black, and it felt amazing holding it, like it really belonged to me and was missing from me for a very long time. And I felt something moving inside me, the magical feeling that Mr. Ollivander was just talking about, as if it got woken up. And I felt myself strong. I flicked the wand and nothing disastrous happened. Instead, everything went on peacefully. "I think it's the one." Mr. Ollivander said.

"I believe it is." I said smiling.
