Look Into My Life

This is my book of poetry. Most of these will be mine, some might be a friends or a famous poem that I absolutely love, but I will be able to relate to them all in some way. I don't claim to be a good poetry writer, hell I'm not even sure if you would call this poetry, but whatever. Writing is my escape. It's putting the things I can't explain to anyone else into words. I have been struggling over the past couple of years with life and I've found that writing out my feeling has helped so that is what this book will do.

If you comment and leave me a sentence to begin a poem with I would appreciate it. I think that way of writing and creating poems is fun and always interesting. It's something my English teacher does every so often and I really enjoy the assignment.

Some poems I will leave unfinished and often return back to them when I get more ideas.
That's all!

2. Monsters Inside You

This poem is one of my best friends poems.  She wrote it a while back, but it's become one of my favorites of hers.  This is the unedited and original version, also my favorite version of it she has written yet.

Everyone has a secret

something they're not willing to tell

but it's those secrets that will be the death of us.

We live steady lives, but have deadly tales.

The monsters live inside us

controlling every aspect of our lives.

Some of us are scared, but others?

We face these monsters alone.

With our knives and swords we kill these creatures.

Dragging these blades across our lovely skin

We see the blood dripping down slowly and we know,

we know that these monsters in our heads have stopped.

But they never go away do they?

Cut, after cut, after cut, why won't they stop?

The voices are getting stronger.

They're taking control and you can't stop them.

It becomes too much

so many secrets, so many stories to be told.

You soon come to realize you can't fight these monsters on your own

but you don't want help.

The day comes when you fight too hard.

You cut too deep only to realize the monster is you,

it has been you all along.

But it's too late, it's all over.

In killing these monsters, you killed yourself.
