“Hey guys!” I yell in a try of catching Harry, Niall, Zayn, Louis and Liam’s attention.

The rehearsals are finished, wrapped up and ready to go … which means that everyone now have a weekend’s time off from work until the first concert in the arena on Sunday. Today is Thursday, which for me will resolve in boredom once I have taught the single class I have in music tomorrow. And talking about it, I don’t have a single clue on what to teach in the lesson. I haven’t prepared for any teaching classes for over a week, and my mind is spotless on what to make the class do. So therefore, I need to talk to the boys. They are musicians on the highest level possible and surely they will be able to help me figure something out—at least that's what I’m hoping on.

“Guys!” I shout again, and this time the boys stop and turn around to look at me. Liam waves happily at me as I make my way towards them in a few, solid footsteps.

“I have to ask you something,” I say when I get to them. “And you better give me some good answers.”

“Whoa, take it easy Gabs,” Zayn says and defensively throws his hands up in front of him. I send an obvious annoyed glare his way when he smiles cheekily at me. Today he had gotten the idea of nicknaming me “Gabs” and he had learned to know that I despised it more than anything. I don’t know why I hate the name, but it somehow manages to remind me of babies’ puke.

“Well,” I sigh and look away from Zayn, trying to forget about the horrible nickname he has given me. “Tomorrow I have to return to school to teach a class of—”

“Wait, are you a teacher now?” Niall objects, leaving me with a new question to answer.

“Yeah, I believe I’ve been for a couple of years by now.”

“Wow. Listen to that,” he points out to the other boys. “She’s good in languages and apparently also a school teacher … what will be the next? Maybe she’s a secret charity employee?”

“I’d like to see that to happen,” I giggle. “But back to the real question: I have a music class tomorrow and I don’t have the slightest ideas of what to teach—please say you guys will help me figure something out.”

Louis makes eye contact with each of the boys before looking back at me and uncaringly shrugging his shoulders. “We’re free tomorrow. It shouldn’t be a problem for us to come and help you.”

“Wait a moment…are you saying you will help me teach my music class?”

“Yeah, pretty much,” he replies and the other boys nod in agreement towards me.

“Are you serious?” I shriek. When they nod again, I take them in for a big group hug before they can even get to object. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“Based on the reactions I got the last time I mentioned the words ‘One Direction’, I’m now going to ask you guys to stay out here while I … um, I don’t know, present you to them. Then on my clue you’ll step inside, okay?” I look earnest at the boys to make sure they understood what I said fully. This time I want to know that the five idiots don’t make a stupid mistake and ruins something by a mistake.

“Got it,” Harry says in that slow, deep, velvet voice that somehow always manages to make me loose grip of reality and for a few seconds put me under a rosy enchantment. He smiles a bit withdrawn at me and for a moment I forget all about my surroundings; all I see is the gorgeous boy in front of me and his brown curls that looks so flawless even though he hasn’t styled them with anything else but a simple hair flip, and his leaf green eyes that is filled with more joy than I have ever seen in a person’s before.

“Right,” I say and smack my hands together in a clap, putting a stop to the awkward silence that slowly had grown whilst I had let myself get lost in Harry’s outstanding—and honestly pretty breathtaking—looks. Suddenly the excitement takes over and I can’t help but let out a hushed squeal: “This is gonna be fuuuuun!”

Hoping they won’t manage to get themselves in trouble within the next few minutes, I leave the boys alone in the hallway and open the door behind me to enter the classroom.

“Hey guys,” I say and feel the happiness flutter in my heart when I see the smiles spreading across the students’ faces when they see me walk through the door. “I’m back for today’s lesson—which by the way also will be the last one before your summer holidays begin—so we’re going to have some fun!”

A few excited shrieks from the girls on the front row are heard in the short silence. “Ow, like what?”

“I have a few friends coming to help me today … I don’t really think they know what they’ve pulled themselves into, though. The challenge I have for them is bigger than they think,” I say, knowing that the boys are probably listening to my words with their ears against the door in that very same moment. They really don’t know what I have in mind for them …

Little Amy from the second row seems to be nagged by curiosity and asks me: “Miss, which friends exactly are you talking about—”

I gesture towards the classroom door, letting the boys know they can make their oh-so-big entrance. The door flies open when Louis firstly steps into the room as the big attention-craving human being he is, closely followed by Liam, Zayn, Niall and at last Harry.

Unlike my expectations, the class doesn’t burst out into screams. The most part of them only throws a hand over their mouth to keep in their otherwise loud reactions. Their eyes becomes on the size of pool balls when the boys stops beside me and waves at all of them. Like everyone don’t know who they are already, they smilingly present themselves: “Hi, we’re One Direction!”

The young 9-year old students keeps their state of speechless, startled silence.

Well, at least you can call this a progress from the last time I had them in a class.

“Okay,” I say, knowing I have to get things started sooner or later. “I brought the boys in so we could make a little ‘musical collaboration’. I’m gonna assign three of you to each of the boys and in these little groups you will have to put together a musical performance to show for the rest of the class. You’ll get 30 minutes straight to finish the performance.” The kids nod comprehendingly at me and the boys gives me an approving thumbs-up.

“All right. Laura, Amy and Lucas,” I call out in the classroom to start off the task by making the first of the small groups. “You can be with Niall.” The three students jump off their chairs and rushe towards Niall with big smiles plastered across their faces. The one girl, Amy, hugs Niall’s one leg so tight you might think she’s clinging onto it for life. “I love you so much,” she sighs, completely love-struck by being in the presence of him. I let a smile slip onto my lips when I see the love she has for him … it’s one of the cutest things when a little kid obsess over pop- or movie stars, isn't it?

With a few points and callouts I quickly get the last few groups sorted out. Now all there is left is for them all to start putting together their short performance. “Off you go,” I tell them with a smile. "Be back in 30 minutes!"

When I walk out of the music class an hour later, no one can wipe the smile on my face off. The experience I just have gotten by the boys and each of their groups was incredible. Even though they only had gotten half an hour to prepare their performances everything had been so organized; and the boys’ voices was even more of a joy listening to when they weren’t singing their own original songs.

Niall had been creative with his group of kids and taught them a few chords on the guitar so they could perform an acoustic cover of Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me”. Zayn went for a bit more R&B style and picked “Beautiful people” by Chris Brown. A few of the boys in his group knew how to dance, so they even taught him a few cool dance moves for the performance, that ended up being amazing. Louis choose Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and gave it a touch of DJ by rolling a mixer into the class room and giving himself a solo on it later into the song. It had sounded terrible, but it was a massively great idea he had come up with. Liam was stylish and performed Justin Timberlake’s “Suit And Tie”, the group all wearing black hats and ties and doing a few classy dance moves. And then there was Harry, whose group blew the classroom’s roof into the air. They performed Katy Perry’s "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" in neon colored 80’s clothes and went so crazy, that I for a second believed that he had drugged himself and the students to earn more energy for their performance.

But all in all, I’m really impressed with all of them. It's not hard to see why they are performing as a living—and it isn’t hard to see how much they love doing it either.
