Soul Siren (OneDirectionFanFiction:HarryStyles/OC)

She was the winner of The X Factor Philippines. It was the only detail we were told about the artist that was lined up to be the opening act for our upcoming world tour. Simon made it clear that we don’t Google her even before we get to meet her, let the girl introduce herself to us so to make her more interesting to work with. We can’t help but get curious of course. What made her so special that Simon was so interested and invested with this certain local artist and get her signed to work with a huge name like us, One Direction?

None of us expected that the artist we’ll be working with would somehow clash with our happy-go-lucky personalities. We were not told that the girl had a very bittersweet past and that her life was not all about fame and fortune after she won The X Factor a year ago.

We didn’t expect that we will meet someone like Makie Romero, a soul siren.

2. Ms. Opening Act

This certainly was not the first impression I wanted to give when I get to meet the mystery girl I have been asking the boys non-stop ever since this morning.

Her untimed arrival got Uncle Simon and the rest of the boys driving immediately to our apartment while Louis and I gave her a very warm welcome. Well, ‘tried’ would be the more correct term. She refused to come inside not until Mr. Cowell comes and tells us that she wasn’t there for a one night stand.

“I thought you said her flight arrives tomorrow, an hour later after lunch?!” I bickered at Louis in hushed voice.

“Well that’s what I was informed about. It’s not my fault she arrived a little bit earlier than 24 hours!” He spat back.

We left the door open with Ms. Opening Act (she won’t tell us her name hence my nickname for her in the meantime) outside, sitting at one of her suitcase which she laid flat on the floor while both Louis and I also sat on the cold marble. She hasn’t said a word to us, -my bad.

“Don’t you want to come inside? It’s a bit cold out there.” I tried to ask her once again, my face complete with a smile and my voice matched with all the sweetness I could express.

No answer. She didn’t even look at me. Gaah.

“This is worse than being hideous.” I muttered as I rested my head in between my legs.

After a few more minutes of awkward silence, Uncle Simon came with Liam, Zayn and Niall on tow. All four pairs of eyes were on the girl who sat outside our doorsteps.

“Why in the world did you let her wait outside?” Uncle Simon turned at Louis and me with a very piercing look, “Gentlemen?”

“Please, you don’t have to blame them, sir. I insisted that I wait outside until you came. They didn’t know who I was, and I don’t want myself to be an inconvenience to them while we wait.” Ms. Opening Act told him back.

“Well, that’s nonsense! Come on, let’s have you settled inside before you catch cold out here.” Uncle Simon said as he helped the girl carry her suitcases in the house.

Liam, Zayn and Niall mirrored the same expression Louis and I had a while ago when we eventually got to see her face. With the way their eyes followed her suit as she gracefully made her way in the living room and settled in our comfy couch, I was sure they have noticed with just one look how attractive she was.

Plus, she gave all three of them a smile that just made her even prettier.

I pulled Louis aside and hissed, “Why did she smile at them? She didn’t even smile to us before!”

“That’s because you suck at first impressions.”

Why, thank you for stating the obvious, Louis.

Uncle Simon sat next to her at the couch while Niall took a bottle of water from the fridge and gave it to her which just earned him another one of her gorgeous smile, -showoff. “My secretary told me that she had you booked on a flight that arrives after lunch tomorrow. Did you get an earlier flight?” Uncle asked her.

“No, I didn’t. My flight actually arrived just on time. I just followed the instructions in the ticket that was sent to my e-mail address, Sir.” Ms. Opening Act answered politely.

“No wonder these boys were shocked when you suddenly showed up at their doorsteps, we were scheduled to pick you from the airport tomorrow. Thank God, you didn’t get lost!”

Ms. Opening Act giggled back at him, which was just gorgeous as well. I can’t even think of any better adjective to describe her other than gorgeous and pretty because her presence clearly makes me more like an imbecile. This is bad. “Well that must be the reason why both of them thought I was a crazy fan who wanted to sleep with them.”

Liam, Zayn, Niall and Uncle Simon dissolved into laughter while Louis just shook his head and smile at me. Oh wow, I didn’t know they were here to laugh at me again. Thanks to you, Ms. Opening Act.

Zayn felt bolder and sat next to her, “Let me guess, Harry shrieked when he saw you?” What the hell? I don’t shriek!

“No, he didn’t actually. He just slammed the door right in my face.” She told them.

“I’m sorry! Honestly, I didn’t mean to. I just panicked that there was a girl outside.” I exclaimed in defense.  “Really, you would have done the same.” They all shook their heads at me. Come on boys, save me from disgrace here!

“Boys,” Uncle Simon bellowed with his huge voice, “Now that Harry here has successfully made an utterly humiliating first impression, why not let our guest introduce herself.”

Ms. Opening Act shifted her sitting position and faced Zayn. “My name is Makie Romero,” she said as she shook hands with him. I can’t help but noticed that her voice was so soft yet sensuous, -more on the mellow side. She has that type of voice a guy wants to hear his girl to sound like while he talks to her on the phone.

“I’m 18 years old,” she said as she shook hands with Liam, “Born and raised from the Philippines,” she said to Louis and Niall, who kissed her hand for a change. That lucky bastard, he’s perfectly done all those impressive first impression which got her smiling at him while I sulk at the corner because all I have done the moment I met her was just offending.

Makie turned around and met my eyes. For a second, I thought I was going to lose my breath with the way her eyes smiled as I looked at it. This girl is seriously doing something to me that I can’t even put in words, good Lord. When my hand made contact with hers, I knew I lost it. The feeling of her skin clasped with mine just felt really good, it’s like they fit perfectly with each other. The building momentum in my chest made me shake her hand with such delight. Maybe I can still save my crashing reputation if I just smile and show her some tried and tested charms-,

“And I’m not that kind of girl who does one night stands.” She nonchalantly told me.

There goes my reputation, all crashed and burned.

The smile plastered in my face completely vanished. She hates me, and she’s going to hate me all throughout the entire tour, Fan -fucking- tastic. I wouldn’t want that to happen!

Uncle Simon cleared his throat that made us turn our attention back to our manager, “Makie, Louis and Harry will be your host for the meantime.”

Luck was still on my side!

My eyes brightened like those on cartoon characters with what Uncle Simon mentioned, “She’s going to live with us?”

“It’s just for a couple of weeks until she gets familiar with London, Harry. Would you rather have her stay on the streets?” Of course not! Why would I let a pretty young thing stray at the cold streets of London?!

“I wouldn’t mind if Makie stayed with me. She’d be welcomed with open arms.” Niall said as he immediately linked his arms with Makie’s, ready to snatch her out of our apartment. Hell no, Horan.

“You live in a one-bedroom apartment Niall, where will Makie sleep?” I pointed out at him.  “It will be an honor to have her live with us. Makie can stay here as long as she wants, Uncle Simon.”

Niall glared at me, still holding Makie, and fired back, “You don’t have any spare room either.”

“Well then Makie, make your choice, would you like to be in Harry’s bed or mine?” Louis said as he wiggled his brows at the mortified looking girl in front of us.

When things are about to get better, Louis Tomlinson kills it! Why am I best friends with these whackos again?

“Uh Mr. Cowell, I think I’d rather stay at the streets.” Was all Makie’s reply to us while she slowly slipped off of Niall’s arm and held on Uncle’s who looked disappointed as well.
