1. Im Done

I slammed the door behind me.  I couldn't believe him anymore. He keeps telling me that he is going to stop with his drinking, but he is still a drunken idiot. I looked at the clock. It wasn't even 1:30 PM yet and he was already messed up. I locked the door behind me and put the chair from my desk under the handle. I sat on my bed, clenching my fists. I sighed, I wasn't going to tell him anything because we had already gotten into 4 fights this week, and it was only Tuesday. I put my pillows under my blanket and made sure the chair under the handle was secure, then opened my bedroom window. Crossing over the window, I turned around to make sure it was closed. I had the key in my back pocket. James went into his room, I could hear him, falling about, knocking things around, speaking gibberish. I climbed down the rain gutter to the ground below. I let a few tears fall as I ran to the nearby park. My fingers slid onto my phone in my pocket, I pulled it out and called my best friend, Christian. I waited a few seconds before hearing his voice.

"Hey. What are you doing?" He asked, casually.

"Leaving, I can't handle James anymore." I sighed, looking both ways before jogging across the street.

"Need a ride?" His voice suddenly became more serious.

"Please. I'll be at the park." I sighed, slightly relieved. I sat next to a tree in the park, looking up at the sky.

"I'm on my way. One day I'm going to end up fighting with him." I heard him huff and I could hear the familiar sound of his motorcycle's engine. I hung up and put the phone in my lap. The tears streaming down my face. While waiting for Christian to come I went to the bathroom, looking in the mirror. I pulled the sleeve of my shirt up, looking at the bruise from the night before. When James, 'my dad', hit me because he was drunk. Last night we had gotten into two fights. One was just verbally, the other was both verbally and physically. I pulled the sleeve down, hoping no one saw it. I grabbed my phone off of the counter, going back outside. I could hear the motorcycle before I saw it. The orange bike with black details finally turned around the corner as I got up, grasping my phone in my hand. As soon as Christian parked the bike next to the sidewalk I was already half way on it. After I slid the helmet on I used, I wrapped my arm around his waist, putting my head on his back. I was used to riding his bike with him, so I just doze off to sleep. When I awoke we were parked in front of his house. I pulled the helmet off, fixing my hair and putting the helmet on the back of the bike. We hugged before walking through his front door.

"Christian?" I asked, quietly.

"Yeah?" He looked over at me. He was on the left side of me, we were sitting on his couch.

"James.. Well.. James hit me last night." I said in almost a whisper.

"He what?!" Christian was quite irate. I picked up my sleeve showing him the bruise my 'father' had made.

"Just because he has to suffer with all of this divorce shit doesn't mean you have to too. It's bad enough your mom wouldn't take you away from all of this just because her new boyfriend doesn't like kids. Then he is going to do this. We are going to get your clothes and you are going to live with me and Olivia. Okay?" I smiled and nodded my head.

"That's all good with me. We can go later this afternoon when he will pass out somewhere around the house because he is so out-of-his-mind drunk." I rolled my eyes at the thought.

"I should have let you live here earlier. Im sorry I didn't though." He pulled me into a hug and we both smiled.

"No. It's okay. thank you for letting me stay here." I smiled then looked at the clock on my phone. It was now 2:00. "By five he should be out cold, based on how he was earlier." I shrugged, this was a regular action for him recently, I was now used to it. Although, I still wasn't quite adjusted to his screaming, our fighting, or his hitting, I was accustomed to him being out cold by five in the afternoon. I let out a breath I had no idea I was holding in.

"So where's Olivia?" I asked, still looking at the ground.

"I think she went grocery shopping." I noticed him shrugging from the corner of my eye. Olivia and Christian are my BEST friends. Especially Olivia, but Christian helps me with anything I need, I look up to him as a big brother.

"Alright, I'll call her." I said, with a slight smile, already dialing the buttons to her number.

"Hello?" Her voice was soft.

"Hey girly." I said cheerfully.

"What's up?" She asked, more happily than before.

"Good news!" I said excitedly.

"What?" I could hear her tension through the phone.

"I'm moving in with you and Christian!" I shouted, not being able to hold it in, hearing squeals from the other end of the line.
