The Girl Next Door

Mia has just moved into a new apartment in London and her neighbor happens to be Liam Payne. She thinks she has fallen for his friend Niall, until Liam gets involved and things get complicated.
Niall or Liam? Niall or Liam?
Will she end up with one of them or none?
Will she be able to escape her past and have a chance at romance?
Or will she stay 'just The Girl Next Door...

58. The last time

Mia's P.O.V

I bring my hand down and slap him hard. Right across the face. Even though I had hurt him multiple times in the past hour, pain that was more excruciating than a simple slap across the face, I took pleasure out of the slap. I felt as though it was more personal than a punch and it felt great.

I would have absolutely beat the shit out of him but I resisted, and instead spoke to him.

Just spoke. Still sitting on him of course, I could feel his heavy breathing as his chest rose and fell.

I remembered the day when we first met and I was charmed by his good looks and what seemed like a flawless personality. I was such an idiot back then. How could I have been so stupid?

I look down at him and scowl.

"Listen here you little shit." I say through gritted teeth.

"You will stay away from me and my friends. You will not follow me, you will not call me, you will not text me, you will have absolutely no contact with me what so ever. This will be the last time you ever see me, unless of course you want me to contact your parole officer."

"How did you know about-" He starts but I cut him off.

"Friend of a friend runs a court house, told me all about it. The way you got drunk and vandalized $500,000 worth of council property as well as stealing a cop car and taking it on a joyride straight into a church. You decided to pay the fees rather than go to jail but you still remain on parole. Am I right?" I ask him.

"In my defence I-"

"I so don't want to hear it." I tell him and then continue, "You saw me at the club that night and decided, like a child, that since someone else had me than you would make it your mission to get me back, though you must be very sick in the head to think that I would ever forgive you for what you did. So as soon as I get off of you, you will leave this apartment building, on your own or by force, I really don't mind, as long as you leave. You will never see me again. So any last words, asshole?"

Suddenly his face softened, something I had never seen before. "I think I could have loved you Mia. If you had given me another chance."

"And why would you be so stupid as to even consider I would give you another chance?"

"Because I thought you could have loved me too."

"Love isn't something you could have done. It's not like you can learn to love someone, because love isn't something that grows in you, its something that's just there and when you feel it you know that everything else, every failed relationship, every bad date, is totally worth it in the end. I never could have loved you and you know exactly why, so it doesn't matter whether we could have loved each other, because we don't, and never will."

"I know. But I just wanted you to know, that I wanted to love you and protect you. Which in a way I did."

"How the hell do you figure that?" I ask, confused.

"If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have taken self defence, boxing, all that crap. Thanks to me you can kick anybody's ass and I feel sorry for that poor bastard." He says, almost friendly.

I smirk, biting back a giggle. I then stand up, pulling him up with me.

It was then that I remember Niall, Zayn and Liam, standing there, overhearing our entire conversation. Jake is on his way out the door when the guys block his exit path.

Immediately, Zayn's fist comes into contact with Jake's gut, winding him. And he clutches his stomach in pain.

Between the three of them, they could have easily turned Jake into a human punching bag, but I didn't want that. I didn't want any more fighting and more importantly I didn't want anything else to do with Jake.

I step between the boys and Jake and grab him by his wrist, pulling him out the door. I push him onto the first step and tell him goodbye for the last time.

And as I watch him walk down those steps and out the door, I'm confident that that will be the last time I ever see Jake.
