Mia's P.O.V
I lay in bed with Ella, my younger sister, hugging her tight, trying to comfort her as she falls asleep. This might be the last time I see her.
When she was 4 years old Ella was diagnosed with leukaemia. She was always in hospital and having some sort of operation done but 3 months ago it got worse, they told us that she might not make it to the end of the year and our best chance was a transplant. But in order for that to happen we needed a donor with the same medical genes as her. We looked for donors to appear on the worldwide register but we were too late, so my parents turned to me. At first I refused, but after tests were performed and I was called ' the perfect donor' I accepted. I could not picture a world without my sister and I would do whatever I could to save her. Even though there was chance of me losing my own life. She was, after all, just a kid and my favourite person in the world. I would do anything for her. 'Mia' she whispered
'Yes Ella?' I replied
'Please don't do this' she pleaded
'Ella, I love you so much and I want you to have a wonderful life, which you will have, because I believe you are strong enough to fight this.'
'No' she said, tears running down her cheeks, 'because there's no way I could have a wonderful life without you in it.'
'But Ella-'
'No buts, we both know that you can't protect me forever, even if this goes well and I survive there will still be medical proceeders, and we don't know how long I'll have'
'But Ella- '
'Mia, you showed me what it was to be strong, you weren't just a sister, you were my best friend and I wouldn't have made it as far as I did without you'
I hugged her tight and whispered 'forever'
She nodded then said 'forever, together or apart'
We fell asleep together.
The next morning when I woke up I shook Ella, trying to wake her up, when I realised, she wasn't breathing.
I called my parents into the room and called an ambulance but she was gone. A week later there was the funeral, I read her favourite poem.
A month passed after her death and my parents announced that they were moving, and I wasn't welcome to come. They said they wanted to escape the town where we grew up and move on, my father said the house had too many memories and my mother said she was going to burn all Ella's possessions. Then they said, I would have to go too because I reminded them too much of her. I lost it.
I yelled at them, I screamed, but they barely noticed. They said I was welcome to take it all as long as I stayed out of their sight.
The next night I packed it all. A friend of a friend had found me an apartment and I was moving the following day, my parents said 'the sooner the better'
The next day with one last hug, I said goodbye to my parents. I have them my phone number but I doubted they would use it.
That was it.
It was time I started out on my own.

Now you know,
This is my story
