1. Flowers

I stared at him in surprise as soon as the words escaped from his mouth.
" A flower?" I asked puzzled.
Memories flashed through my head from the train journey. No, he couldn't of seen the flower too!
If  Kieran and I are both seeing the symbol- then, it must mean something. Something important.....
"Uh- Izalla, are you okay?" Kieran asked; his eyes full of concern. His words of worry snapped me back to the present. I took him by the elbow and whisked him away from the busy crowds and to a willow tree where we could speak in private. It was a sudden move; I know but I was desperate for answers.
"Hey! What was that for?  I mean I just said that I saw a flower; it's not that-"
" Did you see it too? I mean- back at the train; did you see the flower?" I asked eagerly; interrupting.
" Yeah. I did. I have to admit, I was a little confused at first but now that you've just told me that you saw it; well I feel slightly better about the whole situation. But, what does it mean?" Kieran replied.
"To be honest, I don't have a clue." I said with slight disappointment. I was hoping that he would have some ideas on the peculiar hieroglyph but he didn't know much about it either.

With a sigh, I slumped back against the twisted bark of the tree; letting my thoughts wonder through my mind. Kieran joined me on the grassy floor but we both didn't say a word to each other. In some ways, the silence was strangely comforting . I  don't know the reason why I'm contemplating about this so much, but I just feel that the hieroglyph has a unique importance; like it holds a secret that could explain the peculiar, recent events. The sound of Kieran's voice startled me.
" Let's go back. To the train. We might be able to find some answers." Kieran said with excitement.
" But, the train has probably left by now. We'll have no chance of finding it again." I said.
" "Well, that's where you're unfortunately wrong. Before I ran off the train, I noticed that the train would be stopping at the next station for a while to change signals." Kieran replied, smiling.
" Okay then. We'll go to the next train stop." I said, returning the smile.

When we arrived  to the train we stood their for a while to regain our breath. We decided to run there to not risk the chance of it having only stopped for a very short while but as luck would have it, there it was. It looks like Kieran was right after all. We ambled our way onto the train carriage where the hieroglyph appeared, where my life changed. I gasped loudly when I glanced at the two symbols on the glass windows; they were both dripping with blood; who's blood? I stood their paralysed to the spot; too afraid to move. I don't remember the blood being there, so why was it here now? Kieran shuffled over to the flower that he drew and dipped his finger into the ruby red liquid.
" It's okay Izalla, it's just blood, there are so many possible reasons why it's here." Kieran said, trying to reassure me.

I sauntered over to my own symbol and gently placed my whole hand onto the cool glass. The blood felt sticky against my warm, sweaty hands. I don't know why I put my hand against the glass, I just did. I then had an overwhelming feeling inside which seemed to control my movements. My eyes widened in alarm as I began to rise up from my sitting position. What was going on? I looked over to Kieran; he looked surprised by his actions too! Our blood covered hands were raised in line with our heads and we seemed to be drawing closer to each other, as if the red hands were magnets. With a quick movement, our hands were suddenly entwined and fused with an unknown force.  The feeling inside of me then started to buzz voilently with a great intensity ,as if it was being charged up. It soon got to a point when I could no longer bear it. Whatever Kieran and I were doing, it wasn't good.

I had to try something fast. I looked into Kieran's eyes which were filled to the brim with astonishment and utter fear. I closed my eyes, hoping that something would happen.

Anything.
