Dressing Up or Dressing Down? (One Direction/Lou Teasdale)

Melody is just an ordinary girl, or so she hopes. Her dream is to become a stylist, but after a traumatic experience it was locked in her inner closet. What will happen when she moves to London to be mentored by the famous Lou Teasdale, her idol? What will become of her when she meets the five lads everyone wants to meet? No one knows, except Fate.

5. New Day, Same Mistakes

“I see you driven round town

With the girl I love and I’m like

Forget you

I guess the change in my pocket

Just wasn’t enough I’m like

Forget you and forget her too”

My phone’s ringing. I hear it, but I can’t see it. I fumbled around until I found it tangled in the duvet. How’d it get there?

“Hello?” I said in the best morning voice ever!

“Morning, Honey! How are you?” hearing my grandmas’ voice instantly cheered me up.

“I’m doing great! I can’t thank you enough for doing all of this. Lou is really great. She introduced me to some, uhm, friends of hers the first day.” I said remembering our little prank we pulled.

“Oh, that’s lovely to hear, Honey.” She said.

“How are you guys down there?” I asked.

“Just missing you, but other than that we’re just peachy.”

“Aaw, I miss you just as much grandma.”

“Well, Honey, as long as you’re happy. We’ll support you in what ever you do. You know that right?”

“Yes, grandma. I’ll make you and mum and dad proud. I promise. I love you, grandma.”

“I love you too, Honey. I have to go now. Bye!” she said

“Bye, grandma.” I said and hung up. I looked at the time and saw it was 7 am. Well, it would seem that I would be running on 4 hours of sleep today.

“Whoa,” I said clutching my head. “worst headache ever.” I walked to the bathroom and hopped in the shower. Today was one of those days that called for washing my hair and that was usually accompanied by singing. Oh, well. Stevie Wonder, my favourite. I started singing Isn’t She Lovely. My parents always sang it whenever they got the chance.

I finished quicker than usual.

“Damn you!” I yelled at nothing in particular. I forgot my clothes in my room again, but it’s just me in this house and no one would be here after last night. Commando it is then, at least until I get to my room. My wet hair wrapped in curls around my waist and covered some of my chest. Here goes nothing. I opened the door and strutted over to my room. I heard a wolf whistle from behind me and I froze. I didn’t dare turn around, seeing as some parts were not covered. I started walking to my room again, ignoring the person behind me. I shut the door and locked it immediately. I was planning on going out and taking a few pictures today so I put on a white summer dress with some converse I found in my closet. My necklace and bracelet complemented everything perfectly. I braided my hair as quickly as I could. I grabbed my camera and threw my phone in  my bag. I was ready to go. I don’t wear make up even though I want to be a make up artist. My skin is still fine without it.

I opened the door and rushed downstairs. I went to the kitchen, ignoring the curly haired boy sitting on my couch starring at me wide eyed. The presence was there again.

“I don’t have time for your shit this morning. Come back another day.” I whisper yelled at it. I know it sounds weird, but it helps sometimes like today. I instantly felt it dissipate. I sighed and grabbed an apple that was on the island.

“Who are you talking to?” he said blocking my exit from the kitchen. I didn’t answer him. I turned around and went out the back door leaving him standing in the kitchen. I walked the little path to Lous’ house. I could hear him following me after a while. I stopped at her door and knocked. She opened it looking at me and then at Harry who was standing behind me.

“Hey, Lou.” I said signalling for help.

“Hey, Melody. Harry.” She nodded.

“Is it okay if I go out today? I want to practise with this.” I said holding up the camera.

“Yeah, of course. Just be back before dark and everything will be fine. Do you need a chaperone?” she asked. I thought about it for a second before saying no. “Okay, see you tonight then. I want to see the pictures.” She said smiling. I nodded and turned around, which resulted in me bumping into Harrys’ chest.

“Why won’t you talk to me?” he whispered to me. I just stared at him.

“Uhm, Harry, can I have a word with you?” Lou to the rescue.

“Yeah.” He sighed and I walked out the front gate.
