Dressing Up or Dressing Down? (One Direction/Lou Teasdale)

Melody is just an ordinary girl, or so she hopes. Her dream is to become a stylist, but after a traumatic experience it was locked in her inner closet. What will happen when she moves to London to be mentored by the famous Lou Teasdale, her idol? What will become of her when she meets the five lads everyone wants to meet? No one knows, except Fate.

10. Cousins And A Lullaby

“That was tiring.” I said as I walked out of the building, trailing after Lou.

“And the best part is, in 2 days you are doing your first photo shoot.” She almost shouted.

“Am I really ready for that kind of responsibility?” I asked really unsure.

“I know it sounds as if its rushing things, but after today, seeing you actually focused and working, I decided you were ready. There won’t be classes until then, so just relax and get to bed early. Rest is the key ingredient.” She said.

“Okay.” I said climbing in the car. To be honest, I was knackered. We were back at the house before I knew it,  probably because I dosed off in the car.

“You may go and rest that precious little head of yours now.” She said giggling.

“Thank you Lou.” I said shuffling to my door. I pushed the door open and basically dragged myself upstairs. It was only 4 pm, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I fell face first onto my bed and just pulled a pillow under my head as I fell asleep instantly.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

“Ugh, what now?” I asked out loud. I picked up my phone.

Hey, how was your first day?xxx

To: Harry

Tiring. I just woke up.

From: Harry

Oh. Do you have class tomorrow?

To: Harry

Uhm, no. Why?

No reply. Weird. He always replies. There was a knock at my front door. Who could that be?

“I’m coming!” I shouted as I walked down the stairs. I opened the door to find the one and only, curly haired boy standing in front of me. He had a huge grin plastered on his face. “What are you doing here?” I asked, stepping aside to let him in.

“You said you didn’t have class tomorrow, so I came over.” He said.

“Okay, but the reason I don’t have class is because I have a shoot in 2 days.” I yawned.

“Wow. Congratulations!” he said taking me into a tight hug.

“Can’t. Breath.” I said as he let go.

“Sorry.” He said hugging me again, but not as tight.

“Its fine. I’m going back to my cloud. Feel free to do as you please.” I said trudging back to my room. I heard the front door shut and I thought he left again. Not 2 seconds later I heard a knock on my bedroom door. “Come in.” I sighed. He came straight to the bed and lied down next to me. I was on my laptop watching PewDiePie on YouTube. He was busy with a new Amnesia Let’s Play. It was terrifying and fun at the same time.

“What are you watching?” Harry asked.

“PewDiePie.” I stated. Suddenly he shut my laptop. “Hey! I was watching that!”

“I know, but I was lonely.” He said pulling the puppy dog face.

“Fine. What do you want Harry?” I asked not looking at his face. I knew I would cave if I looked.

“A kiss.” I turned back at him and stared. I was shocked, to say the least.

“Wh-what?” I stuttered.

“You heard me.” he said still doing the puppy dog face.

“Harry, we ca…” I was cut off. He crashed his lips to mine with so much force I could have sworn they would be blue in the morning. I froze. Literally. I didn’t respond like he wanted me to. He pulled back and stared at me confused.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, hovering over me. When did he get there?

“I-I… nothing.” I said looking away from his eyes. I crawled out from under him and went out onto the balcony. It was a bit chilly, seeing as I discarded my jacket a while ago. I was staring at the moon again. One thing I love about my birthday, so far every year it was a full moon on that night. Three more days. I was soaking up the soft white light when I heard him come closer to me.

“What are you thinking about?” he sighed as he placed his hands on either side of the railing, pining me in place. I was already bent over leaning on it, so it wasn’t an uncomfortable position except for the gorgeous boy standing behind me.

“The moon…” I said trailing off. “and my birthday.”

“When is it?” he asked.

“The 19th of April. Three more days.”

“What does the moon have to do with it?” he asked confused at my thinking patterns.

“Each year gave me a full moon on my birthday. I have a feeling this year may be another one.” I said turning to face him.

“What are you planning?” he asked staring down at me.

“You sound like Lou. I’m not planning anything, because I don’t really know any one and I’m not old enough to go to a club or anything like that.” I stated as I rolled my eyes. I heard my phone ringing somewhere in my room. “Uhm, I think my phone is ringing.”

“Oh, yeah. Sorry.” He said removing his hands from the railing. I ran in my room and started my search.

“Where is it?” I asked in my frantic search. I tossed my covers off the bed and found it. “Cousin! How are you?” I screamed as I answered.

“Oh, I’m fine, Mrs. I-Graduated-High-School-At-Age-15.” She answered with a laugh.

“That’s the longest nickname you have ever given me.” I giggled.

“I know. I felt creative for once.”

“I noticed. So why are you calling at 10 pm?”

“I was bored. We were having a sleepover and guess what happened?” she sighed.

“Uhm, everyone fell asleep?” I asked receiving a confused look from Harry who was sitting on my bed.

“Yup.” She said popping the ’p’. “So, what are you planning for your sweet 16?” she asked. What is it with everyone and this damn thing?

“Probably in front of the tv or something, I don’t know. And its not sweet anymore.”

“Well, its in three days, isn’t it? Why don’t you come visit? I haven’t seen you in almost 3 years. What do you mean not sweet anymore?” She suggested.

“Sounds fun, but I have classes. I’ll tell you that later.” I sighed. As much as I would love to see them again, I can’t just take off for who knows how long.

“Wait, last time we talked, you said you were only leaving for university in two months. What happened that you aren’t telling me?” she asked alarmed.

“Oh, I forgot I haven’t told you yet.”

“I hope that will be changing in about 5 seconds.”

“Remember how I was always doing the make up for the plays at school and the bands at the after parties? Yeah, well, my grandparents contacted Lou and now I’m her new apprentice.” I said as if it was no big deal.

“WHAT?! As in Lou freaking Teasdale?” she shouted so loud I had to hold the phone away from my ear. Harry was laughing. He could probably here her shouting.

“Yes, and you’re going to wake the others if you keep shouting like that.” I said after her little fangirl moment.

“Screw the other girls. I’m getting you here one way or another.” She sounded really determined. “But, anyway, I should get to sleep now. Love you Mel.”

“Bye, Jane. Love you too.” I said and we hung up. I walked over to my bed and faceplanted onto it. I wish I could be there. She was like my other half. We think the same, like the same music, we even share hobbies. I really missed her. I missed everything on the farm. Horse riding, getting dirty from time to time. We even built a tree house all on our own when we were about seven. We had the time of our lives in that thing. I didn’t realise I was crying until I felt Harry rubbing soothing circles into my back.

“What’s the matter?” he asked.

“She wants me to come visit them for my birthday.”

“Then why don’t you?”

“Because I can’t just fly to South Africa and leave everything behind like that and I have that shoot in two days.” I said still hiding my face in the duvet.

“So? You can leave after the shoot is finished.” He stated.

“I’ll have to talk to Lou first.” He didn’t say anything, but kept on with the motions on my back. I crawled up to my pillow after I wasn’t crying anymore and was just about to fall asleep, when Harry lied down next to me. He kept his distance which wasn’t hard to do, because the bed was so huge. He was looking into my eyes as I watched his intently. I wasn’t getting a lot of sleep tonight and I knew it.

“Will you sing me too sleep?”

“Sure, what song?”

“I don’t know. One of yours.”

“You really don’t know about us, do you?”

“Nope and to be honest I don’t really care.”

“You’re so different.”

“I know…” I sighed as he started singing.

Don’t try to make me stay,

Or ask if I’m okay,

I don’t have the answer.

Don’t make me stay the night,

Or ask if I’m alright,

I don’t have the answer.”

I drifted off with the sound of his voice and I had the best nights’ rest I could have asked for.
