On the Death of Two Women

I wrote this today on hearing the news of Margaret Thatcher's death. Rosemary is no-one in particular, she is a representative of the thousands driven into poverty, many of whom died in underfunded hospitals

1. On the Death of Two Women

On the Death of Two Women

Margaret rose

Like bubbles in champagne

Burning miners

To keep herself in power,

Killing Society,

To feed her greed,

Maggie died in luxury

In the Ritz

Rosemary

Drifted slowly down

As though wearing leaden shoes

Burning furniture

To keep herself warm.

Searching in vain

For society.

Rose died in poverty

In soiled sheets.
