6. Falling Into Place

“Kelsey said she would kill him”

“Kelsey?”

Sophie had said something that shocked me. Would Kelsey really threaten to kill Ben?

“Do you know why?”

She shook her head and blinked back tears. I thanked her for her information and left. Why would Kelsey want to kill Ben?

“Do you want any help?”

I spun round to see Josh standing behind me.

“Umm… yeah, that would be good.” I said as we turned the corner and slipped out of sight.

“I want to tell you everything I know.”

I was so used to people keeping secrets that his words took me by surprise.

“Go ahead.”

“Ben and I had a fight that morning, but I swear I didn’t kill him.” He looked straight into my eyes and I was sure that he was telling the truth. I couldn’t rule him out just yet though.

“What were you fighting about?” I asked, intrigued to finally get some proper information about the argument.

“Ben and Izzy aren’t the amazing couple everyone is so convinced they are. She might think they were but they weren’t. Ben had been cheating on her with Sophie. I was the only one who knew and I didn’t think it was right so I told him. I hadn’t spoken to him since then and I swear I would never kill him, he was my best friend.”

I could never have imagined all of the things Josh would have been through. I was sure of his innocence, but there was more that I needed to know.

“Did Kelsey ever say that she would kill Ben?” I asked.

“No way,” he said, “She may seem a little hard-core, but she would never say something like that. She’s probably one of the nicest in the group; she’s never been two-faced or anything in her life.”

“Is there any way that Izzy could have found out about Sophie?”

He shook his head, “I never told anyone, I just couldn’t do that to her, it would break her.”

Suddenly everything seemed to fit into place. I knew who killed ben, how, why and who they were going to kill next.

“Get the others, including Mr White.” I said determinedly

“Do you know who did it?” He asked, wide-eyed.

“Yes.”

I headed to the boys dorm. There was only one more thing I needed; a confession. If I could get that, everything would come to light and there would be no more secrets.
