He's No Good

Steph has newly moved to London in hope of starting over. Her past has been hard to deal with, but distance has made her stronger. She wants to make friends, but just friends. She can't let herself fall all over again...she must remain single to remain strong.

One day this all changes when boy with a similar past, walks into her work. She was warned to stay away, but darkness is just so alluring...

1. Another day- 1

"Darcey, hurry up!! I need to shower!" I pound on the door hoping that she would quit double conditioning, and open the stupid door. I know she is the boss, so she doesn't care if I'm late, but to be honest, work gets my mind off of life.

"Steph, I swear to God, yell about it one more time, and I will snap!!" Leighton screams from her room next door.

Sometimes I swear that I'm roommates with two of the most snotty girls ever. They have grown to be like sisters though, and i couldn't pass that up. Leighton is a complete opposite of me; her golden hair reaches her butt, and  she has the most beautiful blue eyes. She runs around like nothing matters, and I'm convinced that she believes that she is a Disney Princess. She works at Darcey's bakery with me, but since she is incapable of getting out of bed till at least noon, she works from 2 till close of the weekdays. Me on the other hand, i work the 8-4 shift everyday but Sunday.

Leighton was the one who convinced me to move in with Darcey and her because i was just rooming at a little family-owned inn outside of the city. Darcey was a family friend that had moved to England when we were 8, and she was actually a main reason i choose London. Her and I were Facebook friends, and i was able to set up working at her bakery before the big move. Some people say we look alike, but in reality, she is much more pretty than i am. She looks like a model, and had fiery-red hair that fell right under her shoulder blades, with a slight wave all the way down. She was one of the most naturally beautiful people I have ever known; however, she puts on just the perfect amount of eye-makeup that she looks fierce, not trashy. This is probably why she always has a boyfriend gawking all over her.

I begin to patiently wait for my turn, when i hear yelling outside. I stand up and run to Leighton's room to look out the window and see where the commotion was coming from. The is a group of guys walking toward a boy, and shouting things. The boy looked to be around my age, but i can't see his face enough to recognize him. I'm about to leave to window to try again with Darcey, when i see a curly haired boy pull a knife out of his pocket, and laugh when he opened up.

This automatically made me run for the front door, and i made it my mission to help this unknown boy. I don't know why, but I seemed to have startled everyone with my sudden presence, everyone except the boy.

"What the fuck are you doing you bitch, get back inside or I'll cut you next!" The man with the knife spat as he continued his march toward the weaponless boy.

"I called the cops already, and they are on their way," i quickly lied, hoping to spare some time to think of a better plan. I was unable to think of one before the boy turned at me, looking shocked. I expected to see fear from him, but he looked strong, and cocky. I met his eye contact, and i noticed how blue his eyes were. I quickly realized I have never seen him before, but before i could get any closer of a look, he whispered something i couldn't quite make out.

It took me a few moments to register that he told me to run, but by then, he had already pounced on the guy with the knife, and knocking him unconscious before any of his goon friends had a chance to react. When he got off his body, his knuckles were broken open from repeatedly punching him in the face.

I wanted to run so badly but, my feet were glued in place. The boy had made it his mission to defeat the group around him, and it didn't take him long, because within seconds most of the others had fled the scene. However, he managed to beat two others in the group senseless.

I stood trembling, taking in what i had just witnessed. It was so similar to what i had fled to London to escape from, and it was like violence was following me. When the boy finally turned to me with the others blood smeared all over him, i crumbled to the ground. I did what I use to do in these situations, and i got into a ball and pleaded to not be hurt.

"Whoa there love," the boy put his arms around me, and hoisted me into his body. He carried me to the steps of my apartment, but when he set me down i burst into tears. All of a sudden i blacked out.

------------------------------

I woke up in my bed, with tea by my bedside, and a note from Leighton and Darcey:

'Steph dear,

We had to go into work. You passed out and Louis brought you inside. He wouldn't tell us what happened, and he left right after he tucked you in. I don't know why you were with him, but I can give you plenty of reasons why you shouldn't have been. I'll explain more later. But shower, and come into work if you can, we are short on help today. Don't feel any pressure though. We love you, and hope this tea isn't too cold when you wake up :)

~Yours truely'

I quickly showered and put my brown tangle of hair into a bun, and wipe some mascara on my eyes before I grabbed my purse to leave.

I exit through the front door, and i realize that what happened this morning was very thoroughly cleaned up. I sped walk to the bakery, which is 5 blocks away, in an attempt to get out of the misty rain as fast as possible. When I'm about halfway there I remember that i didn't take any medicine, and i come to grips with the fact that in about an 1 hour I'll have a raging headache from passing out.

I decide that it would be better to continue on my way to work, rather than turn around and get my work shoes any more wet. When I finally get inside, I am greeted by Drew, Darcey's brother. He hugs me (a little longer than I'd hope for) and tells me how worried everyone has been about me.

"I'll tell you about it later, for now, Darcey looks like she could use some help." I smile warmly at Drew, and we both look at Darcey frantically trying to ice my share of cupcakes. He nods in agreement, and hands me my apron that he has been holding since I walked in.

I begin my shift, and everything is going back to normal, and the crowds are beginning to slow down. The slowdown gives me a chance to head up front and organize the display case in the front of the store. I start to hum to myself, as I move around the plush flower bouquets, when someone behind me starts to chuckle.

"Drew, stop laughing! You know I like to h-" i stop short when i finally turn around to see Louis. Standing about a foot from me, with his hands in his jacket pocket. He starts to laugh more when he catches the surprised look on my face.

I think he likes that he as that affect on me...
