23. The talk #2

Percy and Mark were first on lookout whilst Annabeth and Helena slept. Well, Annabeth slept. Helena pretty much just stared at the ceiling of the tent. Annabeth slept like a baby, with the occasional stutter in sleeping pattern when her recurring Tartarus memories overcame her. Helena decided at midnight, that maybe she should do something productive seeing as she was already awake. She walked out of the tent, careful not to wake Annabeth up and went to the boys. 'Ok, I'll be on lookout. Both of you can go sleep.' they both looked at her and looked at each other, before Mark said 'are you sure? I mean, I think at least one of us should stay with you.' Helena simply looked at him. 'I defeated two monsters by myself, not 24 hours ago. I should be fine.' Mark then stated 'yes, I don't doubt you would be totally kick-ass but like we said last time, one of us - any of us should've been with you. We won't let the same thing happen twice. I'll stay with you. Percy you go sleep.' Percy looked between the both of them. Mark was standing and Helena realised that the two of them were very close to each other. 'Nope. I don't like the thought of the two of you being left alone together.' Mark and Helena's faces both earned an obvious redness. 'll stay with you.' Percy stated. Mark nodded his head, and left.

'You okay?' Percy asked her. 'I should be asking you that.' Helena replied. 'Helena...' 'Percy...' she mimicked. 'Helena. Just tell me. Are you okay? Seriously?' Percy asked her. 'Percy, I'm - I'm fine.' She gave him a weak smile. He didn't return the smile. 'Helena, please. I heard you earlier, I heard all of  your worries and fears. It's me. Please, just tell me.' He looked straight into her eyes. She sighed in defeat. 'Okay, I'm not fine. I'm scared of everything. I have no idea what's going to happen and that scares me Percy. This is my first quest. I've barely been a known demigod for a year, let alone long enough or good enough to survive a first quest. I have no idea what's going to happen. I don't know what's normal and I don't know what's not and Gods Percy, that's what scares me the most.' She looked up. Percy's face was full of sympathy, and he was slightly more relaxed. 'I know exactly how you feel - and trust me, my first quest was days after I found out I was a demigod. At least you had a few weeks to get used to the idea. Hey, I've seen you in battle. You battled two monsters single-handedly. Trust me kid. you'll be fine.' he put his arm around Helena and pulled her close to him. They sat in a hug for a little over an hour before Helena said 'I forgot to ask. How are you? You know, after Tartarus and Leo and Gaia and everything?' he just looked at her and chuckled. 'Trust me Helena, I'm fine. I mean, sure it's hard. I still get recurring nightmares but it's okay. They're getting better. It's less vivid now, kinda more like a blur. As for Leo, I'm glad he's ok. I mean, yeah he could've told us earlier but I guess there wasn't too much he could do about that. At least he found Calypso again.' It was Helena's turn to hug Percy. 'Maybe you should go to bed, be with Annabeth.' Helena told Percy. 'You slept?' Percy asked her. 'No. I don't need to though, I'll be fine.' she told him. 'Helena, get your butt in that tent and sleep. Don't wake up Mark, he'll kill you.' she heard Annabeth tell her from behind. She let go of Percy, gave Annabeth a hug and went to the tent to sleep.

She opened the flap and looked inside. Mark was sleeping, but very lightly as he kept tossing and turning. He woke up when Helena walked in. 'Hey. Sorry, I didn't realise. Go back to sleep.' Mark stared at her. 'What's up?' Helena asked him. 'Nothing. You just... Never mind, come sleep.' he patted the spot next to him. She instead went and slept where Annabeth had, far further from where Mark had proposed she sleep. She fell asleep far quicker than she thought. She woke up when she heard the snap of a camera flash and some sniggering. She went to move her head when she realised there were arm wrapped tightly around her waist. She opened her eyes to see Percy and Annabeth and felt a weight on her head. She quickly realised the arms belonged to Mark, and she moved her head only to realise it was Mark's chin resting upon her head. She got up, shaking Mark awake in the proses and saw that she had moved from her spot where she slept beforehand to where Mark slept. She then remembered, she woke up in the middle of the night because of a vivid dream and Mark was there to comfort her. They talked for a while before Helena fell asleep again in Mark's arms.
