12. Monsters

It all happened so fast. A flash of light and she was suddenly pinned onto her back with a minotaur looking hungrily at her face. She could barely move. Her hand was close to her sword, close enough to almost touch it. So close yet so far, Helena thought to herself. Percy saw Helena under the famished minotaur. She caught his eye and signalled to how close she was to her sword. Percy got the jist and distracted the minotaur whilst killing a few other monsters. In seconds, the minotaur was lying limp on the floor, surrounded by a pool of its blood and a slice in its chest to explain the oozing liquid.

"Ares cabin to the back now. Try and stop as many as possible getting past Thalia's tree and into camp." they all rushed off after hearing from Percy. "Hephaestus cabin, keep stocking those weapons. If you have time, get explosions. Yes, yes, I know Leo" Percy replied to Leo's look of utter delight. "The seven, Helena, Mark, Nico and Clarisse to Zeus' fist. Now. Everyone else, keep them back as best as you can. Apollo cabin, help the injured. Go!" Percy urged the camp.

The seven of the prophecy and the others all rushed to Zeus' fist. A hydra was awaiting their arrival. Mark and Helena shared a surprisingly worried glance at each other before Helena's eyes found Percy's. He nodded to her and she knew exactly what to do.

She distracted the hydra as best as she could as the others tried to get leverage on the creatures weak spots. There were a few minor injuries for which she earned an irritated look from most of the group.

There was a small hole in the hydra's armour/shell. Something Helena was sure no one else had seen. It would be extremely dangerous. Life threatening even, but if she could get under the hydra for long enough, she could jab her sword into the hole and the battle atop of Zeus' fist would be over.

She dodged one of the hydra's attempts to bite of her head and got into position. She would have to be quick. She glanced one last time at her friends before she dove under the enormous creature.
