Child of The Sea

Helena Troy is a 16 year old girl who has known she was a Half-Blood since the age of nine. Unfortunately, her mother hadn't informed her of her godly father. During her time at Camp Half-Blood she discovers that she must go on a quest to save the gods. Will she save the Gods and the world? Or will the fate of the world tople to its knees in the hands of Helena?

{Please don't judge the book on the first few chapters... I was 13.}

40. Epilogue + Author's note

It had been months since the Quest but Helena still had the same, recurring dream. That she was in the Underworld. Even though she was in Elysium, Helena still felt scared. She would never see her friends, or family again. Sure, she met lots of nice people in Elysium - Charles Beckendorf and his wife Silena Beauregard were the nicest - but she was still scared. She had to go to the Underworld, to where all had perished before making her way to Elysium. Her nightmares were constant reminders that she'd been dead, and that she could have easily gone to the Underworld and never made it to Elysium.

She woke with a start every night, a pool of sweat around her. As far as she knew, she never screamed in her sleep, but she always woke Percy. In some way or another. He didn't seem to mind - he had nightmares about Tartarus. But Helena did. She minded that she woke him up every night over dreams that weren't worth waking people up over. Most of the Camp made a fuss over it - like it was some big deal (to be fair, she had been dead.) But to Helena it was more of an inconvenience. Her dreams were more what ifs than replaying memories. She always felt bad - Percy and Annabeth had fallen in to Tartarus. She had just made a quick shortcut through the Underworld to Elysium.

She talked to Leo about it. And Thalia. Helena figured that if anyone, she could talk to them. She spoke to Hazel and Nico too but it seemed too normal for them, they're dad was ruler of the dead. Leo told her that he had similar nightmares. He hadn't been dead long - he took the vile from Piper before she realised it was gone - but he still had the same dreams. The what ifs. Thalia had been dead years. She often forgot she was actually alive. She had the same dreams but to her, they were constantly way more vivid. It was as if the three of them were cursed - they'd seen death, experienced it but they made it out. The dreams to them were some kind of punishment.

It was the end of the demigods' time at Camp Half-Blood. Most of them would end up going home to go to school and return yet again for the next summer.

"I don't know if I want to go. This, us, just started." Mark told Helena. The two of them were sitting on the beach looking out over the Long Island Sound.

"Go. You need to finish school. I'm staying here, but I promise you I'll be fine. Percy's leaving for a few weeks but he'll be back in no time at all. Annabeth's going with him but Piper, Jason, Leo and Calypso are all staying." Mark still looked fairly concerned. He never liked leaving her. Especially now, after they'd officially started dating.

"Maybe I should stay - at least until Percy and Annabeth come back. I could-" she cut him off with a soft kiss. She laced their fingers together before she spoke again.

"I'll be fine. I promise you I can look after myself. Besides, Clarisse is coming back soon. She and Chris will be back in no time." she gave him a reassuring smile. "Anyway, we'll talk everyday through Iris message, and I'll come and meet you during your school breaks. Seriously. Nothing's going to happen to me." she was amused by his lack of trust in her. She knew it was because he wanted to protect her and a little piece of her fluttered whenever she thought about it. He pulled her in to his chest, so her head was resting where his heart was.

"Do you still have those nightmares?" he asked quietly. Not many people knew about those.

"A little, but you shouldn't worry." she told him.

"But I will. You should tell Chiron or even your Dad. They could help you." she pulled away from his chest to look in to his eyes.

"Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do without you. Please, Mark. Don't worry about the dreams - I'll be fine. I have Percy" she reassured him. She wasn't entirely sure at that point whether she was reassuring herself or Mark. She hoped what she was saying was true. But, she could never be certain. That was the life she lived. Full of uncertainty, full of unexplained things.

"Fine. But, if I come back to Camp and you've completely lost your mind - I'm probably going to end up punching stuff, Pegasus Poop." he gave her a toothy grin to which she returned with an equally toothy smile. He pulled her waist towards him and gave her a long, lingering kiss. It was his way of a good-bye.

"Percy!" she woke again in a start. But no one was there. Percy was gone. Back to New York with Annabeth to visit his mom and Paul. She was soaking with sweat. It didn't look like she was going to get back to sleep again any time soon so she decided to go for a swim in the lake. It was just a few minutes after curfew had stopped that morning. If she decided to go back to sleep she would have gotten at least four extra hours of sleep. But to her, she would never get a soundless sleep. It would always be restless and she wasn't sure whether it was temporary or not.

She was scared it wasn't.

Thank you so much to those of you who have been reading this story! It's crazy to think that it's finally come to an end. Please don't judge me on the first few chapters! I was thirteen!!

I would just like to remind you that I do not own any of the characters except for Helena, Helena's mother and Mark. All other characters throughout the story belong to the amazing Rick Riordan and his incredible series' Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes Of Olympus. Some of the plot may also belong to some of his books so I am fully aware that they are not my own works.

It's been really nice to have been able to write this story for this long. This is the longest story I've ever written - and I've been writing (okay - mediocre stuff) for a long time. I appreciate that the story is long - I never really expected to be writing for this long - but I thank all those who've at least read two sentences of my story.

I plan to write far more Movellas entries in the close future and I am planning on entering the current Percy Jackson Writing Competition (May 2015) with a fanfiction entry, a cover entry and a Greek Gods story entry.

Thank you,

TheImpossibleAstronaut (Tiri)
